I will never part with my Bar Mitts
Last winter I endured frigidly cold bike rides in 20 degree temps and would often have to cut my rides short due to the intensity of the pain in my fingers which would leave them feeling like they were on fire. Wearing two pairs of gloves still didn't solve the problem. Last month I came across this product when I was searching for gear for cold weather biking, and I thought I'd give the mitts a try as I wanted to continue riding throughout the winter. Suffice it to say, after trying Bar Mitts, I will never again leave home without them when I'm riding in freezing weather. Today I set off on a 34-mile ride with my Bar Mitts attached to my bike for the first time. When I left my house, the temperature was 25 degrees, and during the course of my ride, it eventually got to about 34 degrees. At the start of my ride, I was wearing a pair of cycling gloves rated for temps in the upper 30s-40s. I inserted my hands into the Bar Mitts and waited to see if they would really work. The first few miles of my ride my fingertips felt a little cold, but nothing like they used to feel without the Bar Mitts. Before I reached my fifth mile, my hands were actually toasty warm, and they stayed that way for the remainder of my ride!! This product is a Godsend, and I can't recommend it highly enough for cyclists who don't want to give up riding during the winter months. For reference, I am a 5'6" woman and weigh 136 lbs. I ordered the medium size, and they fit perfectly. I had been debating whether or not to get the large size, but I think the smaller holes on the medium size helped insulate my hands more, and I had no difficulty operating the gears or brakes.

Great Investment
My hands remained warm during the entire ride. Great purchase

Bar Mitts for the Win!
How did I not find these before now? I live in Southern NC so it doesn't get super cold here, but my fingers and toes start to get cold when it drops below 50 and we do ride year round. Went out the other day and it was 39 at the start. Tempting fate, I put my brand new Bar Mitts on and donned a relatively thin pair of gloves. My hands stayed warm and toasty. Shifting and breaking was a breeze too. The only problem was that it got warmer than forecasted and I had to remove the mitts - and they're a bit bulky. Well, I rolled them up tight and stuck them in a kit pocket. Worked just fine. I highly recommend this product.

Dorky appearance, uncompromising comfort
Yeah, these will make you look like a dorky lobster, but they work as advertised. I’ve used these to commute to work in subfreezing temperatures, without gloves, for a few weeks and I’m satisfied. My hands stay warm enough, just barely, and I can still shift and brake. You won’t be turning heads for your style, but people will stare nonetheless at your lobster-like qualities as you zoom by in comfort.

Good for cold temperatures, but slip down the bar
The Bar Mitts are my go-to pogie for really cold weather. They are sufficiently large, so even my huge, battery-powered gloves fit into them. The combination of those is good for even subzero (F) temperatures. The extra space they afford traps more air, and it makes a difference. They are a bit too warm for moderately cold temperatures. They are easy to install, even over hydraulic levers. I can have both on in less than a minute. What I don't like about them is that they love to slide down the bars. I also have 45Nrth pogies, and they stay in place and are far better constructed as they are made from various panels of material. The Bar Mitts are inexpensively constructed, but I paid less for them, so it's understandable. If they stayed in place better, I'd bump up my rating. Still, when my hands are in them, they don't move, so it's not something I can't live with. Overall, I'm glad I bought them and would recommend them as they do the one thing I need: Keeping my hands warm in very cold temperatures. I just need to modify them a bit to keep them from moving around.

Lifesavers during winter
These bar mitts are awesome - I wish I had bought them years earlier. I use them when it gets below about 50 degrees Farenheit on my road bike. I wear light mtn bike gloves even in low 30's, and swap back and forth between having my hands inside the mitts and then on the bar when they need to cool off. I'm considering buying some Di2 remote handlebar shifters because it's a little annoying when I'm climbing up a mountain with my hands on the handlebars because they're warm and having to reach inside the mitt to shift.

These worked for me when nothing else really did.
I was starting to go the carry hand warmers or get heated gloves route. I even bought a small portable usb hand warmer. It would have worked as a solution but it would have been a lot more work coordinating when I could have what hand on a warmer, and making sure everything is charged every morning. Bar mitts were the last thing I was going to try before taking a deeper plunge. I ride about 30 miles every morning before dawn and the temperatures here were hitting the low 20's. Even then, these blocked my hands from getting cold from wind. Before these, my combination of ski glove on left hand and 3 thinner gloves on my right so I could shift easier, would of had my hands freezing not more than 20 minutes in. Not now, full ride with no painful cold and only wearing silk glove liners and my regular long finger riding gloves. It is fantastic to have full motion of your digits around the controls. More difficult to get up on the bars depending on your setup. I don't use the drops much, more for fun, but with these I wouldn't even try to use the drops. As for sizing, I got the small but I wear medium sized gloves and ride a giant road bike size small. I have no problem going in and out of the mitts with my hands. I'm often switching between different modes on different front lights so getting my right hand in and out to switch settings or turn something off depending on changing conditions, is important.

Highly recommend
Just got these and they’re amazing. I took them out in 30 degree F weather with no gloves and my hands were the perfect temp. Plan to pair them with thin gloves in really cold weather. I was worried they would take some getting used to but they’re roomy and intuitive.

Girlfriend loves them
I bought these for my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves them. She cycles to work everyday in temperatures close to zero sometimes and had tried various gloves and glove liners. None of them kept her hands warm enough on the coldest days. These bar mitts let her wear gloves under them and keep her hands nice and toastie.

Gamechanger for winter cycling
Love them! They have transformed my enjoyment of winter cycling. In the past, even when wearing winter gloves, my fingers got so cold that I couldn't feel them, which made braking and gear shifting clumsy and dangerous. Now I can wear lightweight gloves and have great control over brake and shift. Took half a day to adjust my signalling technique as you can't move your arm sideways until you have drawn it back an out of the mitt, but once used to it, no problem.

Hands are toasty!
Mounted these on my Ritchey Ergomax bars. Fit well and keep my hands super warm, so warm that I usually ride with my summer gloves even when its -4 Celsius the coldest I have ridden so far this year. Very happy with them and would buy again. For the people that want to shift with your hands on the out side its possible but the neoprene is quite thick.

Check that you have ordered the right ones (inner cables vs. outer cables)
I thought I had picked the right ones, but these did not fit my cables. I certainly like the concept as my hands freeze even with downfilled mitts on (mitts are awkward...true), after about 20 minutes of a 2-hour ride.

Game Changer
Still comfortable in -13C Toronto weather and with thin knitted gloves. I have my large ski mitts if weather drops below -20. I get cold easily and these have exceeded my expectations. My road bike looks like a Frankenstein but its worth it to stay warm.
