Great value

This is a necessity!

I was planning to put together a fire pit and wanted to make sure I do it safely, responsibly and to the code. So I reached out to 2 of my friends who are firefighters to get some advice and they both insisted on a fire pit screen. If you are constructing a fire pit in your backyard or just make a nice little fire you need a way to stop the larger glowing pieces of charcoal from flying out of the fire and into the surrounding area. Most glowing red dots that you see coming out of your fire are harmless and fizzle out before they are cold enough to get to the ground. but the larger pieces that shoot out of the fire with those snap sounds generally land on the ground near dry grass, tents or people's clothes and continue to glow and burn for a few seconds. This mesh is designed to stop those bigger ones and I saw this in action when the large pieces of glowing wood were getting stuck to the mesh and burn until they were small enough to make it through. and once they were that small the went out before they came anywhere near the ground. This one gets the job done very well. it is nice well constructed and heavy with good protective coat of paint. it does get very warm since it sits right on top of the flames but it comes with a metal fork to open and close it. This is a really good way of ensuring your fun recreational activity does not become a life threatening house fire.

If this doesn’t fit just right, it’s very difficult to use. Especially when it’s hot.

no screen lifter in box

It does seem sturdy. I guess will find out when we do a fire. The item did not come with the lift handle that states in the description. Too large to send back so stuck with just the screen

Good form and function, poor quality

The poker was chipped and already rusty. Almost as if it was rusty and then sprayed with some cheap paint that is flaking off already. I don't think I'll even be able to use it due to the flaking and rust under the paint. The screen opens/closes nicely, but it arrived basically loose in a giant box, with only a thin plastic bag around it. There was a small amount of bubble wrap tossed in there with it as a worthless guesture of care. The condition of the screen was poor. It was scratched and scuffed completely through the black matte paint. It also had some old grass on it, so maybe it was a return they tried to pass off as new? It will soon rust and look awful. I like the fit and design, and I'm guessing a replacement will be just as bad, so I'll probably keep it until it rusts through, but I won't buy it again. I'd recommend getting a cover to keep it dry!

Packaging not right

Product is as described however they need to rethink how it is packaged. The box was delivered almost completely open and the screen lifter was not in the box

Well constructed works as promised

I bought this as a replacement for a 30" screen which had rusted out after several years of use. I wanted a high dome and this one fit the bill. Unfortunately, it is a bit on the heavy side and it just barely fits my firepit so it is prone to falling off. I plan to get a welder to add some tabs on the sides which will keep it in place. Because of its two piece construction, you cannot lift it off the pit without grabbing it with your hand(s), so you will need gloves to put in place and to remove - you cannot pick it up by the handle with a tool like you can a single piece cover. If you want to take it off when it's hot, you will need fireplace gloves to do so. It's too early to tell if the paint will hold up to the intense heat of a fire and the Texas humidity without rusting. So far I'm pleased with the quality and construction, just wish it was a bit wider.

A well-used spark screen was sent, definitely not new.

Packaging for delivery was ridiculous, spark screen measured approximately 30" wide and 25" high, this item was shipped in a box big enough for a refrigerator, with no packing around the screen so it was able to toss around the box puncturing many holes and further damaging the screen. Two screens sent, first screen had been well used, it was returned, and yes in the box it was sent in. The second screen was sent in the same manner, so many holes punctured in the box, one piece was missing when I received it. However, I called Good Directions, and they sent the missing piece immediately.

Fire pit spark arrester

Love how quick it was delivered, love the size, great look and functionality. .but two of the welds were broken. I'm lucky enough to have a mig welder and was able to repair it easily. But for some people that may not be an option.

Great and Heavy Duty

Product is awesome!. Perfect for my backyard allowing me access from either side and to remove for greater access. I plan on touching up the metal after each season with proper paint to preserve it's use.
