Doesn't fit modern mountain bike tires. Even 2.4" is a stretch.
So I love the idea of this bike claw but there are some real limitations on what bike's it is going to work for. I have an older mountain bike where it works just fine. I'm sure any road bike would also work easily as well. Where I ran into problems was when I bought my wife a new mountain bike that came with 2.4" tires. The claws simple don't close and just bang into the rims. The claws are basically too short. Now this wouldn't be a huge problem except I've invested thousands of dollars and scores of hours into Gladiator's slat wall system at home only to find out that that their bike claw system doesn't work with a fairly typically sized mountain bike. I emailed Gladiator to see if they were going to make an updated version of this claw which could accommodate modern mountain bikes and they told me they had no plans and I was out of luck. Well that's really not a great answer when you've got customers who spend a great deal of time and money to get invested in to your garage system. So anyway, I solved it myself. I took apart the claw and machined some new longer fingers out of aluminum and reinstalled them. They work perfectly. Amazing that I can solve in a couple days what Gladiator should have solved for their customers years ago. I'm going to coat them with rubberized coating so they don't scratch my rims but other than that the problem is solved, but not by Gladiator. Regarding the quality of the original unit itself, the plastic claws always struck me as a weak link in the first place. I'm sure they've done their testing to confirm they'd hold the 50 lbs that they claim but they definitely feel flimsier than I'd like. It'd be nice if they made the claws and the pin they rotate on like 25% more robust. Frankly, I think this is one place where Gladiator should over engineer their solution especially since mounting and unmounting your bike every day is going to bang this thing up and it's holding up an overhead load that could do some damage if it ever broke free. I'd pay $100 in a heart beat for a "robust" gladiator bike claw. Maybe they need "premier" hooks and racks just like they have "premier" cabinets competing with their "ready to assemble" line. So even though it cost me $60 in aluminum plus machine time to make new claws, I'm kind of glad I did even if the old plastic ones did fit my bike. The new aluminum ones lock the bike in with a level of confidence that the plastic ones never did.

Nice push button feature. Hope it has longevity in its future.
It didn't fit into the track system I have, on the bottom part. But it's an easy enough fix for someone with a Dremel tool. lol But for what it is, it seems to be working fine at the moment. I do like the push button feature to lock it in and release it. I'm not sure if it has longevity in its future, but I'm hoping so.

Great hook, don't discard it when it gets weak
I bought several of these hooks and used them for years. They are terrific for holding bakes against the wall. This one snaps into the Gladiator rail system. Be sure to lock it in place with the yellow tab so it does not pop out. They do make another model that screws into a stud so be sure you buy the right one. One day one of them started sticking and would no longer close around the tire automatically. I fiddled with it, assumed it had just worn out, and threw it away. A few weeks later a second hook started sticking. I looked at the inside mechanism and on a whim I sprayed some silicon lubricant through the hole where the arms emerge. That brought it back to life! Desperately I searched for the first hook but I had indeed thrown it out. So I ordered a new one... For some reason (Covid probably) there was a national shortage of Gladiator Bike Hooks! It was backordered 6+ months. Thus I paid the price in time and money for discarding a hook that just needed some lube. (sigh)

If you already have the Gladiator track system, this is easy to install
This mounts your bike to the wall as though you are riding up the wall (or down, if you hang your bike from the rear wheel). If you're installing the system from scratch, get 3 pieces of track. One for the hook itself. Then gently hang the bike (so you don't mar your walls). Mark the wall where the tire in the hook hits the wall and then again where the other tire hits the wall. Then install a short section of track in each spot. This way, your tires won't leave marks on the wall and it's easy to clean/wipe the track when the bike tires leave dirt behind. It's a push button operation. When the clamp is open, insert your bike tire straight in and bob the orange button with the tire and it closes. Do the opposite to open.

Definitely worth it over the regular bike hook
The media could not be loaded. I purchased both this advanced bike hook and the regular bike hook (which does not have the button) to compare before deciding which one to load up on for all of my bikes. My conclusion was that the advanced hook is DEFINITELY worth the extra cost. It is so much easier to get the bike on and off compared to the regular bike hook, which is a pain. Additionally, it will fit much larger tires than the regular hook. I've noticed some reviews mentioning that the bike sticks way out from the wall when mounted like this which is true of all hooks of this style, however this hook allows you to turn the bike sideways/diagonally on the wall (see video review for what I mean) so it doesn't stick out as far from the wall. As others have mentioned the hook is plastic, but it feels very sturdy to me. I haven't had it long-term yet but I am not too worried about it holding up. Ultimately I ended up purchasing 3 more advanced bike hooks after doing the comparison of the two. The advanced hook is better in every way outside of cost, though the price disparity is not so much that it's worth dealing with the basic hook.

Super easy way to hang bikes on wall
I already had Gladiator wall system that I never felt was useful until I came across these bike hooks. Super easy to use and allowed me to Organize garage. Fit commuter and beach cruiser tires no problem

Perfect solution and great price
Got this “used like new” and aside from the box being a little scratched in the outside, it was never opened! Score! I needed a solution for hanging my daughter’s bike while allowing my car to come and go. Luckily you can swivel this quite a bit, I also put a bungee cord on some eyelets to keep it from swaying. Very secure and easy to use! Gladiator ftw!!!!
