Review with Directions, for Non-You-Tubers :-)
A 1/2 inch hose repair kit is very hard to find in most big box stores. Of course, Amazon had the item I needed. I'll start with the pros and cons. Pros: it's made only to fit a 1/2 inch hose (universal sizes often leak IMO), it does not leak, it does not need silicone or tape, and it was easy to install. Cons: Made of low quality plastic (I wanted metal but couldn't find one), it did not come with directions. How to install (with pictures, as posted). 1: unpackage the repair kit and use a phillips screwdriver to take apart the sides of the clamp. 2: Take big sharp scissors and cut your hose straight across. 3: insert the threaded part into the hose with the threads out (if your hose is too stiff, use a hairdryer to soften it). 4: put the clamp around the hose under the threaded portion and tighten both screws (be careful, the plastic is weak and the bolts can strip). 5: install your sprayer (with a washer), carefully because the threaded portion is made of plastic and can get stripped and cause a leak (you will find over time taking off the sprayer will cause problems with the thread, so try not to do that too much). 6: Test your sprayer for leaks, tighten screws if needed. All Done! I installed this repair kit and a new sprayer this morning and watered my garden, front and back, in the morning and evening with no problems. As you may have noticed from my review, I don't have faith that the plastic will last for more than a season. However, I'm trying to repair items rather than replacing them and this should save this 50 foot hose from the landfill for a while more. Hope you found this review, pictures, and directions useful :-)

It's plastic but it's cheap and it works well
They don't make this style of hose mender in metal for 1/2" ID hose, which is what I have on a portable reel. This fit perfectly and is working well. I put a Dramm swivel on it between the mender and a hose sprayer. Don't over tighten the screws.

Plastic collar doesn't fit
This should be a relatively simple fix on a hose but one of the parts didn't work for me. The nozzle fits into a 1/2 inch hose as expected--it would be beneficial if it was brass/metal but it's plastic. However, the plastic sleeve or collar didn't fit my 1/2 hose. The collar is too small and wouldn't clamp around the hose with the new nozzle. Maybe the wall of my hose was too think although it's a fairly standard hose from Home Depot/Lowe's. If it cost more, I would go through the trouble of sending it back.

This is a plastic male hose end replacement. Still good product!
The first Gilmore brand that I ordered was the wrong size but it was a heavy duty metal male end replacement. This Gilmore is the perfect size. Slides right on and fits perfect. This one was a plastic which is fine but definitely probably wont last as long as the metal. Good bang for the buck!

Hose repair
I needed to repair an old hose. This did the trick. I did place the end of the hose into some hot water to make it more flexible. Seems well made. Very pleased. Be sure to measure your hose to get the correct size.

I did not use it, i bought two types and this plastic model was beat by a metal model
Plastic is cheap and a way for a company to maximize profit, but to fix a hose, for one thing, the hose would be a expensive hose, worth fixing. The metal product i used worked really well, but was kind of bulky. I think they could make a better design, but the metal model worked, and this one went into my junk drawer.

Boil the Water!
It’s nearly impossible to find this size in the stores! It worked great after I heated up water and stuck the freshly cut hose in the cup only for a few seconds and, boom, slid right on! Tightened it up and was back in business in no time!

Don't waste your money. Get metal end.
I bought this for the clamp type and it ended up lasting on a few days. The plastic for the male hose end stripped and leaked almost from the start. I didn't over tighten, but it still stripped out and began leaking. I put the older aluminum male end on and tried to use the Gilmour plastic clamp, but it wouldn't tighten enough to not leak. I put a new screw type hose clamp on and it doesn't leak at the hose and male end any more and it fits securely into the nozzle end. Not sure why I bought this. Don't go with plastic end, stay with a metal end if you want it to last. Waste of money.

check to be sure this is the size you need
Be sure you confirm the item is the size you need. It's easy to miss the 0.5" specification for this one because it doesn't appear in the title description.

Thread Size issue
Thread is a little small and does not work with my current gardena attachment. Under water pressure it pops off.

Beautiful Hose Repair Kit
Very nice hose repair kit. No gear clamp band to hook your clothes on or cut your hand. It doesn't even look like a repair on the hose. Recommended.

Wrong colour/Undersized Threads
Sent grey unit... no big deal. BUT threads are undersized and sprayer etc (whatever you screw on the threads) comes flying off when under pressure.

Easy cheap repair.
My hose burst near the end, so rather than spending $30+ for another 15 meter hose, now I have a 14.9 meter hose and only spent $3! It's a no brainer.
