Good enough for homeowner projects.
I bought a house and the ductwork had numerous leaks. Before I began to seal the leaks I bought this meter to measure existing airflows. I also re-measured a few times as the work progressed and measured the final results. Although I could feel an obvious improvement in air circulation and distribution of heating and cooling, it was nice to have some data to work with. While the meter certainly worked well for that project, now that the work is complete I will only have occasional use for this tool. If you are in a similar situation you will have to decide if spending the money is worth it. If I could have rented or borrowed a similar tool I would have done so. Pros: It works as described. Nice hard shell case included. Cons: The cord is short and pulls out of its socket easily. A cord with a locking plug would be a better design. The thermometer function is handy but it responds slowly. Notes: Someone posted a question regarding certification of calibration. It has none but the instruction booklet says it conforms to some standards, which I posted as a reply. See the questions section if you need this information.

Works Good, Quality Could Be Better
I tested this product in various situations, and it seems to work good. Although the fan blade will make a slight rubbing noise when spinning it does not appear to effect the measurement. The quality was not quite as good as I expected, but I guess for the price its what you get. I am a bit concerned about the rubbing noise and future operation but so far it seems ok.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. In fact, it is more useful than expected. Easy to use. So far, it appears to be a very reliable instrument. It is not only a breeze to use, it also can be used to measure breezes!

The meter worked well for my application.
Worked as expected, some difficulty setting the area. The cable connection needed more than a push/pull without lock. Overall very nice.

Love it!!
This product works like a charm. It helps me measure the air flow in dryer vents. It's very helpful in before and after results.

Poor Air Flow Accuracy at Many Speeds
Review for: General Tools DCFM8901 According to the manufacturer the accuracy is a percentage of the top of the range, not of displayed value. Thus the accuracy claimed would be +/- 138 feet per minute (6900 x 2%). Since 3% of displayed value is the minimum expected of decent lower end certified models these days, this would make this instrument inferior when measuring speeds under around 60mph. ft/m accuracy 6900 2% (78.4mph) 3450 4% (39.2mph) 1725 8% (19.6mph) .. etc .. If someone in General Tools feels this assessment by others at General Tools is incorrect, please note so in the comments, I don't want this product to get an unfair knock. Please note that 2 other companies that use the same design base have also verified that their accuracy is a % of top of the range, not displayed value.
