great quality try by shore before you really need it
Works great. It's made of pretty heavy gauge material. Deffenitely recommend flipping kayak by the shore and trying it so you have the experience before your in a situation that you need it. IMPORTANT--INSTRUCTIONS says to partially inflate bag before using, if you put more than just a little air the paddle bag it can't be slid under bungee on kayak. . Try it before you need it. Not recommended if you're very overweight or do not have enough body strength .I recommend keeping a tether line from the paddle to kayak and always have a tether line from the bow of kayak so you can swim to shore pulling kayak. Good to have bow line always prepared ,common sense, but for newbies ,you will need bow line if you get off on a dock so kayak does just float away. I am in good shape I flipped two miles out in rough seas ,it took couple hrs for me to get back in .Make Your Own Call on this, but you kind of need to take life jacket off to make it easier getting in so it doesn't get caught up when trying to pull yourself in kayak. I make it sound challenging but this paddle bag can very well save you.

Surprisingly large float rolls small
This is dual chambered, which means there are two air chambers and two blow tubes. The instructions say it is for paddlers "over 150 lbs." I am well over 150 lbs. With both bladders inflated, I think this would give you double flotation, so I assume two bladders is not a safety redundancy issue, but rather an option to give big guys increased flotation when needed. I liked that a lot. It still rolls into a surprisingly small package that fit well behind my cockpit seat. The retainer cord wraps around it and has a little loop that keeps it from unrolling. The instructions advise to keep it "partially inflated" and under the bungies on the deck. I suppose the partial inflation helps hold it under the bungie and insures that it floats after a capsize. Eh, okay. I understand that, but with the attachment leash, I think I'll still store it behind the seat to keep unnecessary junk off the deck. A well-made and well-considered product though.

Getting back into the kayak.
I bought this to aid getting back into the kayak so as not to become shark bait.I wish I could have found the foam floats to make getting out of the water faster.Maybe the brown stuff I leave in the water will save me.

Great rescue float with minor solvable issue.
Does what it is suppose to do and inflates very quickly. The only problem I have is when you put to much pressure on the paddle with the float installed and inflated, it goes under water just enough to let water seep in between the 2 inflated bags causing it to be less buoyant. I guess a bungee cord wrapped tightly would solve the problem. Overall, I'm happy with it and the cost was reasonable.. I would buy another one. Extremely durable, and bright yellow so it would server as a means of signaling if needed.

Awesome device!
I purchased a paddle float in preparation for renting a kayak for day use in British Columbia. I wanted to know how the device operated so I would be that much better prepared in the event of a spill into chilly waters. I tried it out in a warm Virginia lake before my trip and was astounded how well it worked! I followed the instructions to the letter, partially inflating it before flipping then completing inflation once in the water (good idea!). After securing the float on a paddle blade, I then slid the opposite blade under my deck cord, as instructed. Using the paddle with float as an outrigger I was easily able to climb back in my kayak...I made three successful attempts...each in under a minute! While I have not had to use one in a real emergency, I am confident I could do so, even in rough, cold water. I am a strong female but feel most kayakers could use this technique if needed. Practice beforehand is strongly advised. What an ingenious design!

It works!
I'm new to kayaking and one of my concerns was, how do I get back in if I turn over. I saw one if these on you tube and knew I needed one. I received it real quick in the mail and put it in the "trunk" of my kayak. I went out to the local lake and got out of my kayak and turned it over then turned it back over again. I was in deep water and was not able to touch the bottom. I was able to blow it up set it up and get back in to my kayak. It's a little awkward and you just kinda flop back in but it works. I'm going to take it whenever I hit the water.

Must have safety device!
Works just as it should! Makes kayak re-entry a million times easier. I took my kayak out on the lake and tested it in a situation where there was a moderate wake and no ability to touch bottom, this float was very easy to slip on, inflate, attach, and set up in a real life scenario. It was even able to help me keep me and my boat upright and stable while I pumped the water out. While I hope I am never in a situation where my life depends on it, I am confident using this float.
