Pretty good.

I have two other Gaiam mats that are a little thicker. Those have full paint on both sides covering the entire mat, as these 4mm only have the paint on the designs. Three mats were as pictured while two mats had the designs in a very dull color and not the brighter color as the other mats. I ordered 5 of these. I am using them under a putting mat so I don't care, but beware that the design may not look as pictured, which some reviews stated. They do have a smell to them but it was fairly hot today and they sat outside for about an hour. I know that smell will go away. I do wish, however, that I would have ordered the 6mm instead of the 4mm. Think those are covered better on the surface. I would never order the 3mm. Too thin even for my purpose. But they are quality mats. Just hope the smell goes away by tomorrow. Whew. Little stinky and strong enough odor that you feel it on your face. Irritating to the skin. I think the 6mm covered in full paint would stop the gas releasing from the mat. Maybe when they cool down, they will stop gassing.

Great mat so far!

I’m really enjoying this yoga mat so far. I needed something light weight that I could carry to the gym and this rolls up small enough that it fits nicely in my tote bag with my random teacher junk and workout clothes. I only use this for some light yoga and floor based exercises so comfort isn’t a priority for me, but it’s not like the mat is uncomfortable to use. The grip is nice, kinda like the material you put in a cabinet to keep dishes from sliding around, but higher quality. The design is holding up okay so far as well! All in all I love the mat.

Wears down with athletic shoes

I understand that this is a yoga mat BUT I would expect it to not get worn out on the first use with wearing athletic shoes. That’s a bummer. It’s pretty though.

One drawback...

I bought this as an add on to my extra thick mat because it started to stretch whenever I was in down dog. I was hoping a regular thickness mat would add some stability. Now I've had this mat for about a month and it didn't exactly fix my issue. My palms get a little bit sweaty and start slipping every single time I'm in down dog. Overall it's a nice mat and the design is pretty, but I wonder if the design is the reason for the slippage.

Good quality yoga mat, exactly what I expect from an established brand like Gaiam. Only critque I have is that the design print is off center. It really doesn't affect the quality of the mat, but the visual bothers me.

Only reason this did not get 5 starts is it did not come with the downloadable yoga that Amazon said it would come with.

Pretty, but not really suitable for Yoga

This is a very pretty mat with a lovely design, however it is not fit for purpose as a yoga mat. Trying downward dog on this mat and you are more likely to look like dog squashed on mat! Very slippy when holding poses and the mat also does not stay engaged with the floor in the studio. It rumples up so all in all not very safe at all. While it does take time for some mats to get worn in, this for me was not useable. An accident waiting to happen. This would be alright as a general purpose exercise mat. Such a shame as it looks so lovely. I wouldn't recommend it.

Se pone resbaloso con el sudor.

Buen diseño, material de buena calidad pero se pone resbaloso si sudas al estar haciendo yoga o ejercicio en él. Si haces yoga descalzo te resbalarás. Además no trae cintas para mantenerlo enrollado por lo que deberás comprarlas aparte o comprarle una funda. No compraría otro de esta marca.

Una buena esterilla

Buscaba una esterilla estéticamente bonita, pero que también pudiera practicar bien el yoga, y la verdad estoy bastante satisfecha. Hago yoga de forma habitual, y he ido a algún festival, y entre lo ligera y fina que es la esterilla, y lo bonita que es, no me quejo. No es tan antideslizante como me gustaría ahora en verano, cuando se suda mucho, pero es mucho más que mis anteriores esterillas (la razón de 1 estrella menos), y no tenía tanto presupuesto como para invertir en la esterilla antideslizante (que rondaba los 40€). Es bastante fina, así que no la recomiendo a aquellos que tengáis problemas en los huesos (rodillas, muñecas) ya que no acolcha tanto al apoyarse, o a los que seáis delicados cuando os sentéis sobre los isquiones. Excelente compra.

Brilliant Yoga Mat for Bikram or any...

I'm delighted with my 4mm Gaiam Yoga mat. I took up Bikram Yoga 12 months ago, and was using an old mat I'd had for years which in hindsight is average quality. The change in quality and enjoyment to using this Gaiam mat is massive. Stability, gripier, easier to clean, rolls tightly yet never curls at the ends when laid flat again (been using it about a month now). It's just really good quality and makes my Yoga practice even more enjoyable. And the design I chose is meaningful too.
