Fit well
Not heavy enough to offer any significant protection. They do stay in place well and work ok if wrapped with kerlex .

Fine product, messed up sizing
The media could not be loaded. I purchased both the thumb and pointer guards. The leather feels quality enough, and in fact they would have fit my purposes perfectly. (Whittling) If only they had fit my fingers perfectly. I ordered medium for both, but I would say one is a large and one is a small. Unfortunately because of this, neither of them stay on my fingers while in use, which renders them practically useless. Let me stress, if they fit they would be useful, I have no qualm with the product. Their sizing is the issue.

Great but a little too large for my hands
I just started whittling, so I knew that I would cut myself so I purchased this and the index finger guard. I'm a woman with small palms but long skinny fingers so I thought that the medium might be ok for me. I wish there was a smaller size but I didn't see one with Prime shipping and now that I have it, it is a little too long for my thumb. It's also too fat for my thumb, as well. I know that most whittlers are older men so it doesn't surprise me that it's not the best fit ever. I find that the guard swings around my thumb while I whittle, so it's not the safest thing in the world. You can't see it in the pictures, but the back has to elastic bands, one covers the whole thumb tip and the other is at the base to keep it on your thumb. The lower band is too low for my thumb, so it pushes it up constantly so it's a little awkward. I plan on doing some sewing modifications to get it to fit better. I just wish that there had been the option for the smaller one or that the band on the back was higher so I didn't have to fix it to fit my hand perfectly. The product itself is great, but the fit just doesn't work for me. If you had larger man hands, it would probably be fine. It's too large for a woman with skinny fingers.

Great product. Has saved my finger multiple times.
I recently took up wood whittling and am admittedly not very good at it yet. My wife was concerned about my safety and the fact that she didn't want me slicing myself up or losing any fingers. She found this leather finger guard and wanted me to purchase it for my safely, so I did. Fortunately I did make this purchase because this finger guard has saved me from Emergency Room visits a few times now. I have had the knife slip and few times and each time it has gone right into the guard, but the guard has saved my finger each time. If anyone was to slice their finger through this guard it would be me, but I haven't done it yet because it is a high quality guard that won't allow knife penetration. The sizing on the guard is spot on as it fits my finger perfectly and doesn't slip off. The guard is comfortable with the elastic and doesn't cut off the circulation in my finger, but instead stays nice and tight and doesn't shift. The finger guard smells great too, like real leather. Great product. Has saved my finger multiple times.

Runs small
I am a female woodcarver and ordered this as a thumb guard. I am a small person, so I ordered the medium size just in case. It just fits on my thumb even being a little snug, but I feel safe that it won't slip off while I work. If you have larger hands, you might want to order a larger size. I like the quality though and would order it again.

Does it's job well, well made.
This is a simple thing, that's hard to get right. This one gets it right, it's thin and comfortable, fits well and is easy to remove and replace. If you "pinch cut" with thumb and index finger using super sharp knives, you know the feeling when you discover that during the last 20 cuts, the blade went into your thumb but you didn't feel it until too late. This handy tool prevents that, as well as other accidents where you get so focused on your work, you forget to plan where that blade is going after it passes the workpiece. Your thumb is one common landing place. (Your off hand is the other popular place, so get a glove for that too). You won't be sorry you have this in your kit!

Good product
Overall this is a good product. My only issue is that my hands are small and it tends to slip off even though I have the smallest size. But I sort of expected that. Otherwise it does the job. I cut soap and use this as a thumb guard and have had no issues.

This Protect makes sence, SO YES it Works!
Is it made of quality material? YES! Will it Last after its first use? YES and longer! Is it easy to use out of the Mailer? YES! Is it affordable? YES Are there complicated instructions for use? NO! Will you have to wait so long that you'll have forgotten you even ordered it? NO! You carry Auto insurance, Home insurance, Life insurance; why not finger insurance? This item saves you Stiches, Band-aids, Pain, time away from your hobby; as well as the chore of getting your blood off your work piece. Novice or Master, accidents happen, never mind why or who is to blame. The cost of this insurance is so inexpensive why not get four or eight. Thank You. I am now a calmer and more relaxed stiches free novice carver.

A leather thumb protector with a bulls head on it
its a simple piece of leather that fits on my thumb and protects me from nicking myself when I forget to keep my thumb out of the way when carving spoons and the like. and it has a picture of a bull on it!

Not very strong, not very protective
Better than not having anything, but the leather is so soft that a sharp knife will cut through it quite easily. I put a piece of an old belt underneath it for better security.

You get what you pay for
Cheaply made very small and light weight. You would be better off with a glove thumb cut out of a leather glove.

Too small and thin leather.
This was purchased to use as a guard for a pusher thumb whilst whittling. I don't see how this can fit any thumb. I don't have big hands and ordered medium but it is extremely small in diameter. I checked the packaging twice to confirm that it really was labelled as thumb and medium. The leather is not particularly thick either. Not worth returning, I'll keep it for use as a finger guard at sometime. As for my thumb, I don't think I will be ordering the large one, I will just cut the thumb off of some old motorcycle or rigger gloves.
