Easy to use without much spraying experience
The sprayer is very easy to get set up and running. I decided to go with the 3M PPS system from the start and it makes cleanup easy (I presume easier than having to keep cleaning up the paint cup). I also went with a different size tip because I knew that I was going to be painting kitchen cabinets with thicker paint than the tip shipped with the sprayer would support. It would have been nice if I could have picked which tip to include with the system but the extra tip was not a huge expense. Just make sure you have the correct tip for the material you are spraying.

A woodworker’s dream
The Mini-Mite 3 Platinum is a woodworker’s dream. Simple to use. High quality components and straightforward instructions deliver professional results to a non-professional finisher, like myself, with little effort and a very short learning curve. Easy to set up and clean. The only downside is maneuvering the bulky hose around the work, which was resolved with the whip hose.

An excellent spray system
About me: I've never owned a sprayer before, only used spray cans. Why I bought it: System gets consistently good reviews. Replacement parts and accessories appear widely available. Could get it Amazon Prime. I asked a pre-sale technical question and Fuji answered via email within 24 hours. System is well-packaged; lots of individual, sturdy boxes. The instruction manual if fairly complete. The illustrations and diagrams could be improved; they appear to be photo-copies. There were a couple of notable omissions from the instructions. There were two warning stickers on packaging (one on the turbine box and one on the gun box) about where to place the turbine and how to screw on the lid. These warnings were not included in the manual that I could find. If you somehow didn't see the packaging the system comes in (perhaps you bought it used and downloaded the manual), you might miss these warnings. The build quality is high. The main hose is very nice. It's a flexible, rubber-like material and the fittings feel solid. The turbine was more compact than I imagined (though I had read the specs before). The whole system is smaller than I had imagined. The spray gun is a bit lighter than I expected, but is well-made. Some parts appear to be cast; those that are appear to be plated (very faint parting lines). The tubing and filters appear to be standard items that could be replaced if official FUJI parts can't be located or in a rush. The included 1.3mm air cap nozzle was extremely tight! It was necessary to use the supplied wrench to loosen it. I can't imagine why it needed to be so tight (perhaps it got that way sitting in the warehouse or in shipping). The interior pieces are very well machined, appear to be stainless steel or aluminum. I am pleased with the care taken to make these critical parts. Extras: I bought the whip hose and an extra quick connect coupler for the hose-to-turbine junction. I like both, but they're not necessary at all. I also bought the spray gun stand; it does its job okay, but the vertical bar is disturbingly close to the delicate nozzle. I would've liked a few extra centimeters space so I don't accidentally mash the expensive part. Further, it's two pieces and feels less designed than other parts of the system (the two-piece design does serve a purpose: to swing the filter away from the cup). But the contraption falls apart if you pick it up by the upper piece. There's no retainer to keep the upper and lower parts together. In use: I sprayed water- and solvent-based materials, primer, and enamel. I practiced on some flattened cardboard boxes to get the needle adjusted. When using properly-thinned material and correct nozzle, it is straight-forward to get an even, smooth coat. I wouldn't say it's show-room car quality, but surely that's because of my skill level, and not the equipment. I expect that with more practice, I won't get any of these small blemishes. [***Please see edit below for followup comments.] One thing not mentioned in the manual: if you pull the trigger without pressure, you get a nice thick stream of material squirting out of the nozzle via gravity. Makes perfect sense in hindsight, but while flexing my finger in preparation for spraying, it was a bit of a surprise. I didn't find a use for the circular pattern. I strategized ahead of time how to use fan pattern for all tasks. I tried to avoid switching to the circular pattern because it requires adjusting the needle projection. Some people may find it useful to switch back-and-forth between fan and circular patterns. I plan to give it a whirl in the future, so the option is nice. The turbine is louder than I expected. It has the pitch and quality of a floor vacuum, but louder. I used ear plugs and wasn't bothered by it. I didn't notice the weight of the hose. Don't know if it's because I had the whip hose. The turbine does get hot, so watch out. Cleanup: Takes me about 30 minutes with the following steps: wipe with succession of solvent rags take apart and soak and wipe nozzle parts reassemble spray 1/4 reservoir of solvent wipe again take apart and wipe nozzle parts reassemble spray 1/4 reservoir acetone take apart to dry reassemble store I don't think cleanup time is unreasonable. Brushes take a certain amount of time to clean up properly, and cleaning this system is probably comparable to other spray systems. About the only think quicker would be rattle cans, and that's not a fair comparison. Q-tips and old toothbrush are very handy. The chrome plating makes exterior cleanup very easy. I am not sure how to remove lid gasket for cleaning; would using a pick damage it? I just did the best I could with a rolled shop rag. Other thoughts: I wish the system came with a few extra gaskets/seals (lid, two in nozzle) and pressure tubes. Extras available as a kit for $30 at the time of writing. I also wish the warranty was more generous. Also, alternative spray caps are pricey. Explanation of 4-star rating: Excellent product overall. Good build-quality, good performance. I am holding back the 5th star, because to me, to earn that fifth star, a product has to be superlative in all categories: quality, performance, and price. While the performance is excellent to my novice-eyes, the overall price is a bit steep, the extra spray nozzles are also pricey, and the warranty could be longer. If I had ten stars available, I would happily give it 9 stars. Again, an excellent product overall. I am happy with my purchase and would purchase it again. ***EDIT: After doing some internet reading and reflecting on my parts layout, I am now certain that the two blemishes I observed were my fault, not the HVLP system's. The first blemish was due to me not keeping the gun close enough to the surface. The second was due to crowding the parts too close together and causing me to pull the spray gun at an angle. Both are fixable with more spacious layout.

Fantastic All Around - Company / Quality / Support / Setup / Finish / Clean-up
I've used an old single stage for many years and was very happy with it. Was never able to justify the cost of a Fuji and honestly I still can't for what I do however it's a pleasure setting up and using this thing. If you're like me you'll stop crying over the cost after you lay down the first coat Tip: some say to use a short lightweight garden hose as a Whip but note these can kink and compress restricting airflow

- Great little guy -
Great little guy but I also bought the Q5. This one is lighter side but a bit louder. And Q5 is bigger but quieter. Both fit its need. I think if you have the money and want to paint faster and quality then go with Q5. But this is much better than semi pro 2 IMO

Fantastic Results with Mini-Mite 3
Contemplated going with the semi-pro 2 but opted for the Mini-Mite3 with the gravity fed spray cup. I do many facets of woodworking, etc., and decided it was time to begin using lacquer paint on some of the cabinets I am doing. It turned out to be a really good choice. I am using Sher-Wood Hi Build Lacquer from Sherwin Williams along with their primer in the same line. First tried without thinning but that wasn’t wise or necessary. Thinned primer at 2-1 ratio and it sprayed beautifully using the 1.5 tip. When I applied the actual paint I thinned at 3-1 and it went on perfectly. The system itself is really not that loud to me. I think my Rigid Vac is louder so no problems there. The spray gun is super easy to use and clean, it’s just really not that hard. The results from my first foray into spraying lacquer with the Fuji HVLP were none shy of excellent! At this point, I have no need to look any further into any additional spray systems. The Fuji with the right accessories is all you will ever need.

Great Spray System
I come from the world of compressors and syphon/gravity cup sprayers so for me this was a big departure from what I'm used to. But it was truly worth the investment. I havent given up the compressor or that type of spraying, I've just expanded my tool set to include HVLP as part of my choices for equipment. I also chose the Fuji after lots of video watching and reading reviews. I thought about getting a Graco system because I already have a professional Graco airless sprayer, but it was too pricey for me and the Fuji seemed to be the best system out there for the money plus they had a 3 stage turbine which was a great compromise between the 2 and 4 stage systems.

Not very good for thick latex
Works fine for thin primer, oil, stain and laquer. Terrible for any type of thick latex such as SW Emeral Urethane Trim Paint, even with the larger tips. Too much thinning required. You will still want an airless for that. I could not paint cabinets with this as the thinning was 30% or more with a 1.5 tip
