Great training tool
I was very skeptical at first with such a small paddle. After practicing with this paddle, my thoughts are only positive. It definitely forces you to focus on a small area to make contact with the ball. Aim small, miss small is a term used for competitive target shooters but can also fit the same thinking when playing pickleball. My eyes tend to focus better & can make a more precisely placed shot. I definitely feel that this paddle will only add to your training routine.

Valuable training tool
I wanted to get this to help me hone my pickleball skills. To be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what I would actually get: looking at the dimensions in the description and using a tape measure could give me an idea but that was it. In the picture, I overlaid it on top of a regular pickleball paddle so you could get a more accurate picture of what to expect. When I first opened it up, it really reminded me of a really juiced up ping pong paddle! The weight feels very similar to a regulation pickleball paddle. It does have a significantly smaller head, with a very elongated grip to really make the feel similar to a regulation paddle (so you are not over-reaching for shots). I use it at home, simply hitting the ball continuously straight up in the air to get the feel of hitting the sweet spot. Doing this frequently will help your muscle memory. I also use it to hit balls against a wall. I personally do not, or would not, use it on a court. You COULD try to use it in warm up, but I personally would rather warm up with my actual paddle when prepping for games. It’s a great tool to help your focus in getting used to hitting a smaller surface (or more accurately, aiming for the sweet spot on a regulation paddle!). It’s something you can use when you’re not on the court.

Great For Training
I use this to warm up with so I can dial in my hand eye coordination. This paddle weighs 8 ounces and has an extended grip which is nice if you prefer two handed back hands. Although, I think it is a bit too long. The paddle surface has some grit so it feels very much like a real paddle. This would have received five stars if the handle wasn’t so exaggerated.

A Good Training Tool, People WIll Look At You LIke You Are Crazy When You Pull This Out
Obviously this isn't a paddle that you are likely to actually play pickleball with though you could. As you can see, the hitting surface of this paddle is tiny compared to a standard Franklin pickleball paddle. That, of course, is the point of this product. Another reviewer has posted a video using the paddle so you can see how it may be used for drills. So far I've just used it by standing at a wall with some markings on it that are about the net height. I stand there and just gently hit the ball against the wall, it bounces back to hit it again. To me, this training paddle does not feel anywhere near as well balanced as most regular paddles but it does make it so you have to hit the ball in what would be the sweet spot of a regular paddle. The sweet spot within this "Sweet Spot Training Paddle" is basically just right in the middle of this little paddle face. The handle on this is HUGE as in really long. This certainly isn't anything you need to play pickleball and I haven't yet seen anyone else use one or even have one but if you want to force yourself to zone in on hitting the ball in the sweet spot of the paddle, this is a decent tool to help you do just that.

Great feel
This training pickleball paddle has a great feel. It's nicely constructed and feels responsive. The head is obviously smaller and the handle is larger, but it will help you gain some consistency and get a real feel for the sweet spot.

Well-executed sweet spot training paddle for pickleball
I started playing pickleball last summer, and I have progressed enough that I am now working on some fine points of the game. That's the reason I got the Franklin sweet spot training paddle. The face of the paddle is obviously significantly smaller than the normal pickleball paddles. The idea is that if you are able to hit the ball with this smaller paddle face, then you will later tend to hit the ball with the sweet spot of your normal paddle. This only works if the training paddle effectively simulates the weight, relative dimensions, and overall feel of a normal paddle, while having a smaller face. The Franklin training paddle achieves that through a slightly thicker paddle with a thicker (weighted) band around it. The training paddle feels very close to my normal paddle (perhaps a bit unbalanced), and I think it will improve my game after using it in practice for a few weeks.

Well made and useful training paddle
I been using this for warm up, before my regular play. It definitely helps you concentrate keeping Your eye on the ball and your swing… It has nice feel and I can tell it has quality of a higher costing Regular paddle… The control is right there, but I found the power is not, but that could be good thing As it really loosens your arm , while swinging hard with it in practice.. I haven’t tried it in a regular game, but I can see myself using it against lower level players, and I can get my practiced in, and probably still Do just fine with it… all and all I think this is handy tool to have, and glad I got it..

Perfect for my needs
I got this for a fitness class, to use as a coordination exercise. I have been using with a regular tennis ball, not a pickle ball, and it works fantastic. I’m glad that it’s a little smaller than a regular tennis racket, so it requires more accuracy to hit the ball. This is a super sturdy paddle, and handles the tennis ball great. It is easy for my older clients to handle and hit a ball with. Perfect for my class and reliable. Great paddle for the money.
