This was a gift for a friend.

One of my good friends had mentioned her brown sugar kept getting hard quite quickly and I asked if she had a terracotta teddy bear in it to help keep it soft. She had not heard of them so I ordered two. One for her and one for her sister. They really like them!

This silly little bear does the trick!

I have always had trouble with brown sugar hardening once it is opened. I decided to try this sugar keeper. I am totally amazed. It keeps my brown sugar soft and pliable. If you are not using your brown sugar often, you might have to check occasionally that the bear is still doing his magic. If the sugar is starting to get hard, again, soak your bear a couple of hours, pat dry, and put it back in your container!

Keep your brown sugar from becoming a brick...

This little gadget is such a good idea! I saw it in an email catalogue and though it looked interesting. I don't use brown sugar that often, so by the time I do use it... it's hard a a rock... This cute little terracotta bear works... I read the instructions... soaked it for a little while and put it into the brown sugar package. The brown sugar is still soft... I am impressed. I had never heard of this before... I highly recommend this as a good deterrent to brown sugar becoming a rock...

This is a very simple way to keep brown sugar soft and usable for long periods of time. Works great.

He Can Keep Your Sugar Soft

This was requested stocking stuffer. I also have this sugar bear. You soak it in water for a few minutes. Dry it off & into the brown sugar it goes. It keeps the brown sugar as soft as the day your pour it out of the bag. Will definitely buy more for friends & family.

Works as stated!

I am incredibly surprised about how well this works. I use brown sugar rarely, so I end up throwing away the hard rock of sugar that it inevitably turns into between uses. I needed it recently and, surprise surprise, it turned into one chunk. Did some research and it led me to these little guys. Soaked it for thirty minutes, patted it dry with a paper towel, and tossed it in. Next day, consistency of the sugar was back to normal. You will have to resoak every three months or so to refresh the moisture (I set reminders on my phone for things like this). If you have a large sugar jar, you may need more than one since they are rather small. The other thing to mind, try to set it up that it doesn't touch the sugar as much as possible. It did ruin the sugar underneath it (from the moisture) when I threw it in flat, so I repositioned it to this angle. Every brown sugar jar should have a terracotta bear!

Works amazing

My husband doubted me when I said this would fix our rock hard brown sugar problem. The brown sugar was pretty much a solid block, after soaking this for 20 minutes in water we put it in the container and by the next morning we had beautiful soft brown sugar again!

It actually works to soften brown sugar!

I bought this little bear with hopes that it would soften the container of rock hard brown sugar I had. I followed instructions (soaked the bear in water for around 20 minutes) and put the bear in the container with the brown sugar. Within 2 days, the sugar was completely softened!Great product but a little pricey.
