Not as I believed
The pieces are very well made, and I have ordered before from this company with little to no disappointed, and never because of quality or service (extra service was not required). My disappointment is the size. Why was Wiltons alphabet cutter set the same size, little difference except the Fox Run set is better and has a storage tin included, described as Fondant cutter, and Fox Run as cookie cutter. The size is the same. The shape of the letters is very similar. Perhaps somewhere it did say 1 inch, or slightly more, and perhaps I am challenged in understanding the concept of size. After receiving the Wiltons, I reasoned (faultily) that because these were fondant cutters and therefore smaller. Why would you need cookie sized letters on a cake? So I searched again in "cookie cutters," to come upon these. A photo was shown of the numbers as well. They appeared similar to me, so I purchased both. So now I have two sets of small letters, 1 set of small numbers, and 1 set of large numbers. This is a better made set, does not come with numbers but does come with storage (haven't tried getting them all back in once they are out though)Do not buy these or the other if you are looking for a cookie sized alphabet cutter.

Great For Punching Our Fondant Numbers
I use this (along with the Fox Run 1" Alphabet Cutters) for cake decorating. It's super easy to punch out fondant numbers (and letter). They're a great size - I can easily fit the phrase "HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY _______" on a 9 inch round cake with a bit of room to spare. One should probably grease these up before cutting fondant; in spite of skipping that step I've never had any mishaps. Worse case scenario, the fondant cutout has remained within the cutter. So I just give one of the corners a gentle toothpick poke and coax the rest out.

Too small
The letters are very small so they are better if you want to make mini cookies or if you need to cut out a sugar dough .

Very tiny little letters!
This is a really high quality set of letter cookie cutters -- I do like it. Just don't make the mistake I made and think that these will give you normal-sized cookies. These are about an inch high, so they are wonderful for little decorating touches, like with fondant, or for tops of pie crusts -- I'm sure I will find other uses for them! I just wanted to write this so others will be wiser than I was. Still, I like them!

Rusty after first washing
I finally was able to use my letters. I always clean by hot soap water usually soak over night. Well I went to clean them and low and behold they are rusted.

They're nice cookie cutters
The photo is a little deceiving - these cookie cutters are tiny. The entire tin is less than 5" wide - so the cookie cutters are not as all as big as they appear in the cookie dough photo. They're nice cookie cutters, but maybe smaller than what you are anticipating.

Getting kids to eat healthy foods....
We've been doing all kinds of tricks to get our son to eat more, and to eat healthy foods. Since he's preschool-age and learning his letters, these have been perfect! I cut deli meats, cheeses, bell peppers, melon, etc., for his meals. Sometimes I spell out a word or his name, or sometimes I just put in a few letters. I've even been able to coordinate the 'letter of the week' with his preschool teacher. We had fun putting everyone's initials in crust on the top of personal pot pies. One tip - since they're small, have a few toothpicks handy to poke the food back out after cutting it! Depending on the food, it can stick. Take care of these - wash and then dry well. I usually put the dry cutters on a small cookie sheet in my toaster oven and turn it on warm. This gets them completely dry and prevents rusting!
