Works as expected

I got this to look for drafts in the wall of the house I’m working on. I preferred this brand because I used it at work as well as the country of origin. The hand held version was more expensive and beyond my spending limit. Came with semi-hard case. Like all electronics pieces I expected fragile equipment but the construction appears to be sturdy. In the 20 minutes that I used it I found the cracks that I couldn’t find with another unit. The temperature color display and resolution work to more easily find differences and points of drafts. Used with an iPhone 14 pro max. I had to remove the phone Otter brand cover to reach the phone plug because the extendable connector would not reach with the cover on, that would be my only complaint.

Know when to walk away

I am a licensed home inspector. I have used this product since 2018. This is my fifth and final purchase of the product. The first two I lost soon after purchasing ???? so then I got numbers 3 and 4 in 2019. The 4th one as back up in case I happened to lose the 3rd given my history. Now first in foremost. The flir for its price helped me resolved so much issues for my clients such as but not limited to lacking insulation,leaking air ducts,leaking pipes,Overheating breakers. This product was worth the investment however it is not all praise. I would say the most struggle comes from its battery life. On full charge I never got more than 30 minutes of use out of the product. Usually I didn't need it running for so long. After roughly two and a half years both units started to massively struggle with battery life. I constantly found myself charging the devices in the job site just to use them at the end of the inspection. Towards the 4th year the battery was basically non exist. I could have 27% battery remaining and it would turn off during use. I could charge the battery and activate it with only 78% at full charge. It finally came to a point that no matter what I did one product didn't turn on anymore and the other shut off every time it turned on. So I knew the battery life struggles with longevity which prompted to look elsewhere yet against my better judgment I purchased my 5th unit. Upon finally arriving my unit came damaged with a cover that pops off,and a battery that is damaged.

Excellently simple thermographic accessory

It installs easily and operates responsively. It does everything the item description says and does it well. I don't think I need to restate the whole product description. They describe it very accurately and it performs accurately.

Mid-priced model hits the sweet spot

The LT model has the lower resolution like the FLIR ONE but has the software of the FLIR ONE Pro. More software options makes the lower resolution less of an issue by outlining the images using information from the visible light lens. In practice around the house you just need to get closer to the surface to see detail after scanning more broadly from a distance not unlike a conventional camera really. Battery life is limited so when your done playing (it is fun) recharge it and plan on getting getting your survey done in under an hour. A few tips. 1] Glass is opaque to IR so don't pay any attention to the reading you get from it. 2] Shiny things emit IR poorly and reflect it like a mirror. Don't be fooled by your own reflection. 3] Put a piece of electrical tape on a shiny surface and read the temperature of the tape. 4] Water holds heat surprisingly well so to find dampness try a fan or A/C temperature changes to create a temperature difference and moisture will stand out. Confirm your suspicions with a moisture meter. 5] Sun and wind outdoors can change the surface temperature and confuse matters. Its not hard to imagine the liquid propane in the bottom of the tank being cooler that the vapor in the top, or for that matter the same temperature for a period of time. 6] The default colors indicate the highest and lowest temperature in view not hot and cold per se. My nephew isn't the Human Torch in Antarctica but if he was the image would be a range of purple to yellow as well. 7] It can seem like you can see through things but you can't. You only see surface temperature differences. In the middle picture you can see a missing insulation bat in the ceiling and three windows. If you look closely you can see my reflection in the right hand window. Also if I had put my hand on one of the windows a hand print would be immediately visible and persist for several minutes. 8] When observing a power panel do it while the connected devices are on and drawing current. Unloaded power panels are no fun in IR. Put a measuring spot on the point in question and make sure its really "too" hot and not just warmer that surrounding areas. Breakers and wires under load will be warmer normally and stand out. If it's a loose connection issue the entire wire will not "glow" in the image; just the end connected to the breaker. 9] You may be able to see breaker bus bar connection issues by heat that seems to emanate from the gap between the breakers and not the breaker itself. Remember, bus bars are shiny and mirror like so the heat u see may be your own body heat reflected back at you. Stand off to the side or kill the mains and try the tape trick.

3 years ago i had flir one I purchased flir one pro lt The quality is half of the first generation and the price is 100$ more I talked to flir tech support and aakes them hiw come tge products aee now has lower pixels and more expensive than the first generation No results talking to them

Nothing like advertised

Pro - cheapest I found (not Chinese company), works well if the object you inspect is really warm compared to its surroundings and its not obstructed by another item. Cons - advertised images are a complete lie, resolution is way lower than you imagined, cant tell a hot water pipe from a cold one in the wall. It works to find an overheated electrical breaker but if you use it for more than that you better get a better one. Also the battery is unbelievably bad.

Wow..impressed

Impressed. I used to work with 7000USD$ thermal cameras (fluke) and was not expecting a lot from a 100g/330$ unit... well, not bad at all. I can see anything i want to see at home, easily. Thermal bridges and wet walls can be seen without problems. The superposing of thermal/visible image is a genius move from them. In think I will bring it on the job (engineer in a plant). I always bring it with me. Only downside, my phone is micro-usb and i bough the flir one pro with usb-c; i also bought an adaptor micro/usb-c but the phone does not recognise it. I have always to borow my girlfriend phone until i upgrade my phone!

Not worth it for the wait and money.

The media could not be loaded. Read it before you buy. Ordered USB C type and I got lightning version. I reached out to Amazon to know what went wrong and I was informed that I placed the wrong item. I don't use IOS and I didn't order IOS version. The customer service just asked me to send it back to the and order new item. I waited for a long time to receive it and it ll take as much as time and more to get it again. I ordered it coz it was 6 months equal payments as I couldn't pay upfront. As I am returning it, Amazon denied my monthly payment as I am buying another one after returning, which is unreal. The customer service is terrible as the agents weren't well aware about the policies. I got an unappealing answer after hours of wait over the phone. Not saying this coz I had a terrible experience. The product is not good as you would think it would be. Go for higher end versions or different brand. Not worth it for the waste of time and money. The image has no resolution at all and sometimes it is hard to turn on. It hard to press and hold for a long time to turn it on. It shows calibrating everytime as you pan across objects. It takes significant time than other versions or brands to get a reading. Please don't buy it.
