Loose fit

The mounting tabs on this filter are thinner than the original filter's. The filter does not lock in like the original did. The new filter vibrates loose and falls off it's mount. It's very frustrating. I had to make a gasket out of shop towels to create enough pressure to keep it tight. I originally bought the 2 pack of aftermarket filters but returned them for the same reason, they kept falling off. I mistakenly assumed that a filter from Dewalt, in Dewalt packaging, would fit correctly. The Dewalt filter is twice the price of the generic ones, but the same poor quality. I'm very unhappy. I am forced to use it with my modification if I want to use the vacuum.

Clean and Filtered

Firstly, this is a DeWALT product, so it will cost a bit more than off-brand units. The advantage is that it is guaranteed to fit. Secondly, unlike the off-brand units, you can count on the quality of this filter. Yes, the price tag is a bit of a shock, but you'll save money in the long run because you won't have to buy as many cheap filters.

Appears to be a good filter. Just didn't fit my vacuum.

Seemed like it is a good filter but it didn't fit my Dewalt 581 vacuum.. I got some bad advice. Love Dewalt tools. Returned it with no problems.

Not a bad HEPA filter for the money.

I've used these filters for a while. They make an excellent addition to the job site for picking up spare drywall dust and not spreading it through the rest of your work area. Even fine for very small mold remediation jobs. Just bear in mind that the seals on the DC500 itself aren't that great, so if you are trying to comply with the EPA's RRP Rule, this will most likely not cut it. Griping aside, it's a fantastic product for an excellent price.

Alive Again!

My 12 year old DC500 vacuum was losing suction and at first I thought it was the motor. After reading some forum I found out that it was the hepa filter. Even though I cleaned it regularly some of the dirt still remain in there and over the years it started to cake up. Got the replacement at Amazon free 2 day delivery if you have Prime and my DC500 is as strong as the day I bought it.
