Good filters for Petmate
Problem is Petmate. You have to completely disassemble it to get it clean.

Fits our fountain
These filters fit our Petmate fountain perfectly. I cut them in half as others do, and they still filter the water just fine. It also makes the Petmate brand filters more economical. I usually change them weekly as they start getting discolored & slimy in between the daily water changes

Petmate Fresh Flow Dog and Cat Filter Replacement for Deluxe Fountain
I have had my Petmate Fresh Flow for about 15 years and absolutely love it, so do my three pets, one puppy and two cats. My daughter gave it to me and i have taken very good care of it, i use distilled water to protect the motor. I just had to put a new one in. Lucky to of had one, it was sent to me by Petsmart (sorry), when i was having a problem with my fountain. Hopefully it will last at least 10 more years. My cat is 15 years old and has been using the Fresh Flow Fountain for 14 years. My other cat was my daughter's a Calico which i now have, has been using it for 14 years. I have a new puppy, Chloe and she loves it also, she has now been drinking out of it for 6 months. I highly recommend the Fresh Flow Fountain and the replacement filters. Nothing better !!! I recently needed more replacement filters and ordered them from Amazon. Take care of your pets and get the Fresh Flow Fountain, you won't have to worry about what's in the water, it will be pure and clean.. A month ago i ordered from Amazon, Colonial Dames 28,000 I.U. Vitamin E Cream, Concentrated Age Defying Moisturizer. I find this to be a fantastic product because it is so light, i ordered the 4 oz. container and use it both at night time and in the morning. I have seen beautiful results in this short period of time. I definitely will continue to use this product. The 4 oz. is perfect it will go a long way. Thank you Amazon !!~

Replacements for fountain works fine
Well, things have sure changed. I think I would rate it 3.5 stars. It is the right height, it is thinner, it is not quite the right width but works OK, it is two square pouches made into one long section rather than the older (better) version that was in a long plastic frame. This one has been made so that it can be cut in half, easily, to fit into something far smaller. PROS: It fits ok. The price is right. The best thing is actually the one that I was most concerned about: the two pouches hold the carbon in place (like all the way up). The older version, the carbon pieces all clumped down to the bottom so really didn't do much to the water at the upper half of the fountain. My two pets went right to it and started drinking. Prior to this, I only had one pet drinking from it. So, I think it will be fine. CONS: The fit could be improved - it's a little loose. Definitely need to get used to the new shape without the firm frame around it. All in all, I think I like it. The pets like it. I can't seem to locate these in stores any more, so I'm glad they were here.

Not the greatest filters
Filters don't last long and leave fibers in the drinking water. After a few days, they actually slow the water flow and debris is left at the bottom of the reservoir. The cheaper aftermarket filters here at Amazon are even worse. Would be nice to have a refillable filter option for the Petmate fountains with activated charcoal, similar to a fish tank filter or small K-cup.

These R Great
My 17 year old elder cat has a kidney ailment and one of the things he needs and craves is water. I had an older model of the Petmate water fountain that he never used, but I decided to save. It worked fine but needed a new filter. This product fit the bill and works like a charm. Kitty and I are happy campers!

New & IMPROVED pump
After more than 5 years of operation, our Petmate pump stopped. Actually the electrical cord at the pump became cracked and eventually shorted out. The new pump is improved. The intake has moved from the bottom of the pump where sediment can be picked up to the side facing the water bowl. The grommet on the electrical cord slides on the cord which enables you to adjust the length to not be strained. It might just be the age of the old pump but the new pump is much more quiet. Note to owners: Debris gets into the water system most of which is filtered by the filter but overtime some debris will get into the pump intake screen. Our regime has been to clean the pump intake screen at least once a week. However when the pump failed we discovered that the intake screen is removable and that the pump impeller was full of crud. The user manual probably describes this but even now, I have not read it.
