Large, easy to read display
I bought this scale to replace an inexpensive plastic scale that only lasted six months before it broke. Unlike many scales that have a platform resting on a single post, this scale's design has the entire top supported by the base. It is easy to clean since there are no buttons or gaps to trap food spills. The display is large and backlit, and much easier to read than typical LCD displays. I now always try to buy rechargeable items to reduce the e-waste that battery operated devices produce.

I just wish it would work while it's charging
This was my third food scale after two different ones quit working due to liquid exposure. I decided to not try to find the cheapest one possible. This scale has a much nicer screen and some better features, but I didn't pay attention to the fact that it runs on a rechargeable battery. That's more convenient than digging around for AAA batteries, but when it dies, it has to be plugged in charged for a while before you can use it again. You can't just plug it in on the counter and use it.

Love this new scale! Works great. Has multiple functions for grams, ounces etc. Can hold the weight and you can remove item or add more weight. Soo much better than my last scale!

Great scales.
I love the simplicity and ease of use with these scales. I recently bought a new bread machine and needed some electronic scales as the recipes for the machine were all in grams and so needed to have something accurate to measure the ingredients with. These scales measured very accurately and for bread making it needs to be accurate for all the ingredients to work in synergy with each other. The result was perfect bread, I will try the cake recipe next, the tare function on these scales make them so easy to add ingredients into the same bowl if you need to, the display is nice and clear to read and can change from grams/kilos to pounds/ones with just one button click, you can also use with any other bowl or cup etc or without any bowl too, the bowl provided with these scales are a very good size big enough to use for mixing up other ingredients like pastry by hand and being stainless steel it's so easy to clean too. It also has a timer function too, although I've not tried that yet it would be an extra bonus and save having to buy an extra gadget. And it has a temperature too to show the temperature of the room I would think after reading other reviews which could be useful for bread making too as if the environment is too cold it could affect the bread.

Overall a good set of kitchen scales - great for baking
I was supplied with this product as a free sample for the purpose of testing, but this review reflects my own opinion. The scales are a good size, fit easily in the cupboard, and work well with the supplied weighing bowl or a separate dish. They measure in imperial and metric, offer a timer function, and display the room temperature. I try to be as honest and unbiased as possible when writing reviews, regardless of whether I receive the item as a free sample, or pay for it myself. Whilst I think it is a shame that these kitchen scales don’t also measure liquids, I would still recommend them for baking and general kitchen use. Appearance This stainless steel Etekcity kitchen scale has a base diameter of 19cm, so fits easily into a cupboard, but also looks good on the worktop. The bowl has a diameter of close to 21cm at its widest point, and a depth of just under 10cm. This is a good sized bowl for mixing small quantities, such as cake frosting or pancake batter, reducing the amount of washing up! The scales have just four buttons: power, a button to set the timer, one to reset the scales to zero and to set the time on the timer, and a button to change the unit of measurement. Full instructions are supplied, but the operation is very simple. The backlit display is bright and very clear. Function These kitchen scales require 2 AAA batteries, which are supplied. They are easy to fit on the underside of the scale. On testing, the scales perform very well, and the platform can be used for dishes other than the supplied bowl, like larger mixing bowls. The scales can measure up to 11kg or 5lb, and for my kitchen use this would be an ample amount because I generally just use scales for baking, and rarely exceed a 2lb loaf. The default measurement is pounds and ounces (imperial), although the scales can also measure in kilograms and grams (metric). The only unit of measurement for temperature is fahrenheit, and this displays the room temperature not the temperature of the item resting on the scales. Unit of measurement changes very quickly and easily, as does a return to zero. It is unfortunate that these scales do not offer a liquid measurement, but overall they are a good set of kitchen scales and excellent for baking. I love them.

Will not charge
I liked this scale and found it very good. The battery lasted a long time, however this also means the return window closed well before I found out that it will not charge. I used multiple cables (including the one it came with), and multiple charge blocks without any success. Very disappointed to have a now useless piece of junk that was quite decent up to the point of battery not working.

You don't need another scale really. Pretty impressive.
Used it for a week now, which is still a very short term to truly evaluate the products' long term use. From the outset the parcel arrived exactly on time, and in perfect condition. Packaging is strong with both the scale and the bowl wrapped individually within the Etekcity box, within the amazon packaging. The product itself is clearly very well made, and honestly doesn't have that "cheap" feeling to it. The buttons don't wobble which and have defined "clicking" mechanisms which is a good sign. The scale comes with 2 AAA batteries included and are isolated prior to first use with the plastic tag to prevent draining, so you can use it straight away. The bowl is actually a really good size, and clearly made from Stainless steel, so you wont have to worry about it rusting a few months down the line. The scale is calibrated already to accommodate the weight of the bowl, so it's literally "a press and play" setup. The scale measures all weights as described, so grams, pounds, kilograms etc. It has a built in thermometer to tell you how hot the bowl is on the scale plate, which is quite a good indicator when it comes to baking etc. There's also a timer built in, which was a real deal breaker for me, as it's a feature I absolutely need. The timer isn't hard to work, you just press the timer button, use the left up and down keys to manipulate the first field, then press the right button to move over to the next indicator line etc and once you're ready, you just go. Overall I am very pleased with this scale, and I get the feeling I'm going to get alot of use out of it. And even if something does go wrong with it, it comes with an impressive 2 year warranty which is something you don't see every day with small appliances like this.

STOPPED WORKING AFTER 2 MONTHS - WON'T CHARGE ANYMORE
Bought this scale 2 months ago, it was not cheap either, cost $50 with taxes! It has a built in rechargeable battery. Seemed to be working great until recently, for some reason it won't charge anymore. Tried charging it from multiple different USB sources and even tried using a different charge cord than the one that came with it and it still won't charge. Machine display shows nothing when it's plugged in and it obviously isn't charging as it keeps displaying "Lo" when you try to weigh something and then shuts off. It clearly must be defective but the 30 day window has passed for returning it so no matter what I do on the Amazon website it won't even let me submit a complaint or request a refund or replacement for it. This is ridiculous and super frustrating! What a waste of money! Do not buy this scale.
