Post knee Replacement
Works great for putting on socks. Had knee replacement and needed assistance

Use it daily.....
Let me tell you, I have spent/wasted as this type of item is a non-returnable item with most sellers. You name the model and type....I've tried it and I can tell you the soft, flexible sock aids just don't work well. The metal stretch, step in, and pull devices over a hundred bucks, don't work as well as this hard plastic pull on sock aid. I LOVE this sock aid. I discovered this model over two years ago and have been using it daily, ever since. It is just fabulous. Works well with knee high stockings, panty hose, and socks. I have found the garters, meant to give you extra traction when pulling up the foot covering of choice, to simply get in my way. I used them in the beginning but found that the stocking/sock was always up and over my heel sufficiently with use of the sock aid alone, to allow me to place my hands down into the stocking or sock and finish smoothing it up my ankle and the rest of my leg. Eventually, I cut the garters off as they were more of an annoyance than an aid and I can't imagine my life without this hard plastic sock aid. Like most things that I've found that REALLY work and do what they are supposed to do, when next you go to buy a new one, they are no longer available, so I ordered four additional and have them in my linen closet as backup for when this one wears out, but I can tell you that after two years of daily use, this first one looks as good as it did the day I bought it. The white canvas strap does get soiled from brushing against the lotion I place on my legs after showering, but the strap launders up beautifully with some laundry detergent placed on a scrub brush. Lay the strap flat, brush until clean. Rinse well, hand to dry and you're good to go the next morning. LOVE this sock aid.

Works like a charm!
This item was recommend by other amazon shoppers who had knee replacement as a helpful tool during recovery. I purchased it prior to my total knee replacement. It is made from quality plastic and the elastic garters and webbing on the handles seem adequate keeping in mind that it is only a $10 item. However, I would be remiss in my review if I didn't note that the instructions included are for two different models. The one with garter snaps (this one) and one without. My point is if I could bend down and unsnap the garter snap after putting on the sock thenI most likely I wouldn't need help putting on the sock in the first place. Having said that, I find it works fine just putting the sock on the holder without using the garter snaps. I will readily say also that this was used to try it out and then not used during my recovery period. My foot, knee, and entire leg were swollen and wearing socks just simply was not an option for me for the first few weeks. By the time the swelling had subsided I could easily put on my socks alone. So, if you are wanting this for TKR I really wouldn't recommend it but I would recommend purchasing some very large socks to keep your feet warm that do not have much elastic in them. In addition, I plan on keeping this item for future use. There are many other times this would come in handy. Such as when ones back goes out, bone spurs act up, or surgery on abdomin where bending over is painful.

Almost really good
This item to help put on your socks is interesting to say the least. I have used two other styles that work pretty well and I thought to try these as I am fully dependent for help to overcome arthritis. These are well made and not expensive and seem durable. The difficulty is with design. It is another case where the item seems not to have been adequately tried out before going into production. The sock is slid up over a "shoot" which is pulled over the foot using cloth straps, leaving the sock behind on the foot and ankle. Two garter hook-strap arrangements can hold the sock up if wanted. I wear over-the-calf socks, but the tools would work well if not for their defects. My feet are size 11 for which no modification is mentioned. Problem 1: The "shoot" is too narrow, as others have noticed. I have to turn my foot sideways which lets the edge gouge my ankle. Problem 2: A thick rubber pad which, importantly, keeps the sock on the "shoot" during inserting the foot also acts to impede sliding the sock on the tool in the first place. Tapering its lower edge would minimize this added difficulty. Also using two such pads might help a lot with pulling on the sock. Problem 3: The garter clamps to hold the socks up during the process are themselves on elastic straps which stretch way to far to help. They dangle and are in the way as it is. More nasty is the fact that all the straps are fasten on with rivets with the sharp ends on the inside where they scratch the ankles. Problem 4: The instructions show the straps being pulled over the knee, when, in fact, that doesn't work, but they have be pulled behind the knee to be aligned with the outstretched foot. Unmentioned is the usefulness of pressing the foot against the rug while pulling the sock on. Interestingly, that despite these unacceptable annoyances , the devices work at least as well as the other versions on the market.

There are better ones on the market
Protruding edges are too sharp and damage the sock making it difficult to remove. There are better ones on the market.
