Pretty versatile and simple
Pros: Can use White or Ground wire. 5 preset or custom time settings. Con: Hard to turn on in the dark. Only the little 'off' button on the right is on at night, and it won;t turn on the light. Hard to land squarely on one of the preset buttons to turn on.

LOVE this timer!
I cannot express how much I love this timer! I searched through dozens of options before coming across this timer. We recently remodeled our bathroom and previously had a heating lamp light in the ceiling which was connected to an old turn dial 15 minute timer. We loved the timer switch because it mean that it could never be left on for an extended amount of time. The first requirement that needed to be met was finding a timer that did not require a neutral wire. This one only requires a ground wire (3 wires - red, black, green vs 4 wires - red, black, green, white). We have a light above the shower and a small ceiling exhaust fan connected to this and it works wonderfully. My absolute favorite thing about this is that the green indicator light will move accordindly as it counts down. For example, if you choose the 60 minute setting and it begins counting down - when it reaches the 30 minute mark, the green indicator light at the 30 minute button will now illuminate... and when it reaches 15 minutes, the 15 minute button illuminates and so forth. When it is about to shut off, the indicator light on the main switch to the right will repeatedly blink until it shuts off. Other helpful things: - The light is bright enough to be seen without mistake but it is not overly bright and is not a nuisance in the dark. - You can choose a timer setting, with the ability to override/shut off the light by using the main button on the right hand side. You can also use the button to turn the light on continuously without a timer countdown. - The directions include instructions on how to change the timer settings if you desire (however I did not/it seems silly because the printed times on the buttons wont match if you change the times) but I did think that was a cool option. - The buttons don't seem as cheap as some of the reviews made it seem. I mean they are plastic, but if you aren't slamming the buttons down, especially because there is no need to do so, then they should last a long while. - Does not come with a face plate, but those are easy enough to pick up and it's a standard size so no worries about it fitting properly. This has been installed for a few weeks now and we have had no issues at all. I love this product and highly recommend purchasing it. I think it's features are great and much better than some of the other options and it's at a reasonable price. Not cheap enough to worry about having issues sooner rather than later, but not absurdly expensive where you expect it to be made out of gold! And if you cannot tell from the pictures, I purchased a white faced one.

Decent Product Once You Locate Hot - Quality Issues
This is a decent product provided you know the required steps (warning I'm no electrician, but I've done enough wiring in my time): 1) My first step is to locate the hot using a non-contact voltage detector. Just unscrew and carefully pull out your light or fan switch. If it is properly wired then the neutrals (generally white) will already be tied separately via a wire nut. You will also observe that a ground wire (generally green or exposed copper) is attached to a green screw. If not then you will need to ground yourself with a pig tail to the screw in a metal junction box. Next, you should have two wires (generally both black or one might be red). Turn off the switch and use your non-contact volt detector to find the "hot" wire. You can observe when you close the circuit (turn on the light) both wires buzz or have solid red light on the meter. You need to mark the "hot". I used my wife's bright blue nail polish. http://www.amazon.com/Fluke-1AC-A1-II-VoltAlert-Non-Contact-Voltage/dp/B000EJ332O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438830291&sr=8-1&keywords=fluke+voltage+detector 2) Go turn off your circuit at your fuse box (test that the hot is no longer live with the volt detector). Safe to work now. 3) Disconnect you ground wire from old switch, disconnect the hot (inbound) and other wire (outbound). Straighten the ends of all wires. 4) Connect ground to GREEN wire, twisting until tight, wrap with electrical tape to insulate and ensure hold. 5) Connect hot wire (previously identified and marked with nail polish) to the BLACK - wraps with electric tape. 6) Connect RED output wire with last supplied wing nut. Wrap with electrical tape. 7) reassemble the outlet and cover plate. 8) Turn on breaker. 9) You should see the right on off buttons led in green. Next test from top to bottom all timing settings, looking for LED. Finally turn off. 10) Congratulations you've completed another thankless unpaid Job at your residence. Enjoy. ----------------------------- Additional Information: I thought one of the timers was broken, it was NOT. The first thing you should do is carefully test each of the button for a tactile response. If all the buttons feel like they are clicking, then you product works. For some reason, if you don't install the product very carefully, where the entire surround has zero pressure, the buttons may appear to STICK. The manufacture should have somehow addressed this issue by putting a hard plastic surround to protect the buttons. One you figure out the proper positioning by ensuring there is no rubbing then you are good to go. Otherwise, great product and highly recommend. I especially like the automatic countdown timer, where it continues to advance to the next lower level as time goes on.

Works well, numbers rub off eventually
This is our second one of these. They're solid, relatively easy to install, and very straightforward to operate. The only drawback is that our first one, in a high traffic bathroom has had the text rub off the most-used settings over the course of years. Bought it again, though, for a much less-used bathroom.

Almost perfect. Effectively 5 stars, but more like 4.5 (read on)
This timer switch is very easy to install but I did have to call support when I connected only 3 of the 4 wires and the result was the fan turned on and stayed on and the switch did nothing. The reason for this was the 4th wire which is white (for neutral) with a green sleeve. While the switch does not NEED a neutral, if you do have one, that's what that 4th wire is for. I don't have a neutral so I didn't know what to do with it. Well, the green sleeve (I presume) is to suggest that if you're not using the wire for neutral is MUST be connected to ground. So TWO green wires are for ground. Simple enough. And it worked, however, if it doesn't it means you must have a neutral. The physical dimensions are not overly huge so it should fairly easily fit in any box. The buttons are programmable but I prefer to keep the original settings as the time matches what's indicated on the buttons. The only down side I experienced was that some of the buttons can be a little sensitive to any pressure that may be applied to the switch housing during installation. In my case, the 60 minute button would light up when pressing 15 or 30. I purchased 3 switches and this was exhibited only on one, but I think I read that someone else had this happen in another review. As long as there's no pressure within the box or from the faceplate then it should be fine. I'm exchanging one for a new one in the hope that I get another like the other 2. I have 3 Panasonic Whisper fans in my bathrooms that are very low power. This can be a problem with certain no-neutral switches - I don't really understand why, but I know that it's NOT a problem with my Panasonic fans.

Nice Timer.
Easy to install and works well. Tight space just had enough room.

Perfect solution for fans and low wattage devices
I had previously installed the GE no-neutral timer switch, but discovered that the bathroom fans ran slow. This appears to be a common complaint of this switch - that low wattage lights don't light, or fans run slowly. I suspect this is because the control circuit uses a triac and the device turns on only partially for each half-cycle of AC. An undocumented but important feature of the Eaton timer switch is that it contains a relay. You can hear it click on when the switch is activated. This means it doesn't care how big or small the load is, as long as you stay within the maximum current rating.

Logical Upgrade
It makes perfect sense to have this feature.
