Good looking sleek product

Right off the bat, this cooler impressed me with its robust and elegant design. It boasts a sturdy construction that assures longevity, and the attention to detail gives it an attractive aesthetic that complements any setting. The cooler's spaciousness is also worth noting. Despite its compact exterior, it offers ample space inside, making it a perfect fit for family picnics or large gatherings. I decided to conduct a preliminary test and filled the cooler with a small amount of ice, just enough to lightly cover its bottom, a day in advance. The cooler spent the next two days sitting in my living room, and to my astonishment, only a minuscule portion of the ice had melted. Truly impressive!

All is good!

I have an East Oak fire pit that I love! When they came out with a cooler, I was on it ASAP! But what a surprise when I opened the box today. Instead of a cooler, I got 5...count them 5!... cooler lids, and NO...count it...zero...cooler! Ooops! I knew it was going to be a fairly heavy cooler, but when I picked up that box I knew something wasn't right. It was way too heavy to be just a cooler. Now I know why. I guess I'll have to contact East Oak. I really don't want to have to lug these somewhere to return them! If I ever get an actual cooler, I'll edit this review with information for yall! ***UPDATE!!!*** East Oak is a stand up company. I know they haven't been around that long, but they are committed to customer service. After doing the "paperwork", I had an actual cooler on my doorstep in less than 48 hours. I dropped off the lids at UPS at no cost to me. I haven't even had it five days, so I can't speak to the longevity of the ice in the cooler, but the way it's made I'm sure it's going to work just fine. It's identical in shape and size to my East Oak fire pit. I like the rounded shape. So different from your standard cooler. It will definitely be a conversation starter this summer. Can't wait to try it on the boat!

Good, Customer service

I got a cooler after emailing the company based on the card inside the box. The company was responsive and helpful. They got me a new cooler within a week and a shipping label to return the covers only box I got. I originally got a box of only covers. This review is more on behalf of the company and their ability to resolve and respond. We have had some other back and forth through out the process and always respond in no more then a day. The cooler is great, solid and large. I really like the depth of this cooler, where they make it lower and wider for my mind to reduce the digging through ice. The cover is easy to take off or unlatch 1 side to open and close as a hinge. I have not tested its cold retention as of yet, other reviewers have, I will update this review when I get a chance to test it. Based on this coolers size and weight it is heavy with nothing in it, so it is not something you will easily be carrying around, size is a bit large so fully filled it will take a conscious mind to not let the back get into the lift or 2 people. My plan was at the house summer outdoor use so it is great for my needs. Will update after I do some temperature tests.

So I wasn't paying attention when I ordered this for some reason I thought it was a medium sized cooler this thing looks amazing but literally is commercial boat sized cooler and as much as I wanted a nice cooler this is entirely too big for us.

Effective Cooler

Pros: 45 QT Capacity Supprtds 400 lbs 360 Degree Access Ice Grooves Detachable Lid Ergonomic Handles 2023 Red Dot Design Award Winner Rotomold Construction Virtually Indestructible Weather Resistant Quick Drain System Long Ice Retention 3 Year Warranty Cons: Expensive Drain Plug Design Unusual Shape Bulky What I received in the package: 1 x EAST OAK Cooler 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card This EAST OAK Cooler product has a 45 QT carry capacity. The cooler has a dry weight of about 22 1/2 lbs. The cooler is roughly 25” x 25” x 16 1/2” and is made of LLDPE material. The 3” walls are insulated with injected commercial grade polyurethane. The bottom of the cooler has a ribbed texture to help keep the melted water from the ice. The double hinged lid is can be lifted from one side and use the other hinge as a pivot or vice-versa. Or it can just be removed completely if needed. So my first impressions of this cooler where two things. Damn that’s an expensive cooler Damn that’s a thick walled cooler One caveat before I get into the cooler. After reading the manual, there is a bit of misdirection in the length of time the cooler will keep items cold. First, the manufacturer claims that it will keep cold for an impressive 4 1/2 days. While that may be factually true, that is with 100% ice content. Who needs 100% ice and nothing else. A bit deceptive. The next two percentages are more to what I think is the norm. At 66% ice and 33% food and drink it will stay cold for 3 days … still pretty impressive and out lasts anything I currently own. Finally, at 50% ice and 50% food and drink it can stay cold for 2 1/2 days. So I decided to go about testing this cooler. To be honest, I think it would take about 15 - 20 lbs total of combined ice, food & drink to get close to filling this cooler. Full this cooler is roughly 50 lbs. The handles are stiff and synthetic rope straps which are detachable by removing the screws. While the handles are flexible, I don’t necessarily like the top material for the handles. The bottom of the cooler has 4 screw-in thread openings. This was not mentioned in the manual and I am not certain what they are for. Perhaps to be able to lift the cooler up off the ground with a stand or legs or wheels maybe? The cooler did perform well and by well I mean it just barely beat out my old but trusty Coleman cooler that I have had for 20 years. I dumped about 15 lbs of ice in each and only opened them once a day to check on the ice to water ratio of each. Each cooler lasted about 4 days but the East Oak did have a little ice left when checking on the 4th day. I am not sure how I feel about that … as my 20 year old cooler technology just barely got beat out by this cooler. I also compared this against my daughter’s YETI and it was about the same. That being said, the amount of time you can keep something cold is a direct correlation to the capacity. So if you have a 110 QT cooler of similar make … it should keep your items cold for close to 10 days with similar ratios as previously mentioned. The cooler has a removable top … why … I am not certain but it does. Although I can see how that can be helpful when you are ready to dump out any contents. The two sided hinges are convenient so you can come at this in two directions and be able to open it. Nice feature. It is quite sturdy and my wife and I can sit on it and feel it is not near collapsing in any way. We have a combined weight of about 325 lbs. Not a problem at all and it can also be used as a table. At first, I could not believe how expensive this cooler was. But as I did compared. My daughter’s YETI was $450 dollars so I guess that is the going rate for coolers of this size. It just blows my mine … I guess on don’t go shopping for coolers very often. The shape of this cooler is different than anything else I have seen. I don’t know if that is a good thing or not. It is awkward in size and shape and that makes it difficult to place and store. Unlike with my daughter’s YETI or my Coleman that have more traditional shapes that can still be placed in the back seat. It is much more difficult to make the room in our car or truck to put this cooler in the back seat. So it has been relegated to the truck bed. This is solely due to the shape and size. So I don’t necessarily consider that a positive. The drain plug design is okay. I am not a fan of screw in drain plugs. I would think these would eventually tend to leak. But only time will tell. What I do like about the drain is the location. It is situated on the side of the cooler and you can remove it to drain away water without having to tip the cooler at all. That is a nice design. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. All in all, keep in mind this cooler get heavy fast. So make sure you have help. While the rope handles are not my favorite part of this design .. they do work well. This is a different looking but an effective cooler. This cooler to me is a base station cooler. You truck it in and put it at your camp site and it stays there until you leave. It is not something you trek around with. Strictly as a camping site type of cooler … I cannot say that I was extremely impressed with its ability to keep the inside cold and when it is all said and one, I will stick with my 20 year old Coleman. Not the biggest fan of the shape however. To me it makes it less versatile. But it does effectively keep items cold for a few days. Hope this information was helpful. [4 Stars]

Interesting shape

This does seem to be an extraordinary cooler. It's unique shape and design sets it apart from others. The fun shape makes for a great conversation on the patio for our barbecues. I don't think I would like to take it to the beach, but for out in the backyard for parties, it is phenomenal. It's got ice from a few days ago, and it stays fairly clean. Beware, it is a huge cooler, not to be trifled with.
