Opened item.

The reel was cut opened in the plastic wrap and seems it was a returned item. Looks as if it was disassembled and put together incorrectly. Not as smooth reeling as I’m use to in a in-line reel. Not sure if they are all like this or this one was tampered with causing it not to reel smoothly. Would not recommend to others because of this.

Great reel for the price

Great reel for the price . Line twist is practically non existent . Free spool feature is smooth , and allows the smallest of lures to get down fast . Free spool also has a drop rate drag to allow for a slower drop rate with heavier jigs and spoons . With a 2.6:1 gear ratio and a fairly smooth star drag system , I see no reason why this reel can't tackle the larger game fish ! I only gave this reel 4 stars due to the fact that the star drag is a little tricky to adjust on the fly . I simply set it for medium amount of drag for average size fish , then palm the spool on larger fish , which seems to work out well . A couple of my fishing buddies have already purchased this reel after seeing it in action . Pick one up , you'll be glad you did !

Love it

Never had this style reel. I like it a lot. It’s very simple operation. Seems good quality. I use it ice fishing now. But plan to try it off the boat in the canals.

Good for panfish

Great reel for panfish. Stripped the drag out of one after a couple long fights with some lakers wouldn't recommend for big fish

Great Budget Ice Reel

I have two of these reels now. They pair perfectly with my HT ice blue super light rods. Amazing spool response. The braking system allows you to slowly drop jigs of all sizes and weights, which is so crucial for catching panfish through the ice. The reel is comfortable and the gear ratio makes reeling in fish easy and quick. The star drag is also a very nice feature. I will continue to buy these reels! Great value for the money.

A good basic inline for ice fishing

I've used this reel with 4lb mono in 10* temps - worked fine. No problem handling 16" trout with 22" pole. The drag works, the freespool works. Reel never snarled up on me when the line was iced. There are $5 cheaper inline reels available (ZAvenak), but Eagle Claw is a respected name and brand. I'm liking it so far.

Eh. Its ok at best

It ok. Drags a bit clunky and sticky. Free spool tensioner is usuless. Free spool button in a non convenient location. Theres better inline reels. Not worth it imo get a better reel

Not for windy conditions.

Good for light baits.will tangle in wind as line peels easily.caught lot of fish this winter with it so far.
