Better than YakTrax
I use these on the boots I wear when I take the dog out back in the winter. My backyard becomes snow-packed and then icy, and I am out there 4-5 times each day. I had a pair of YakTrax that were less than a year old, but the wire-mesh design on the Yak’s collected snow, making them useless, and then the wire mesh started to come apart from the rubber material that holds them, protruding from the sides of the boots. When this happened, the two boots were getting tangled by the wire mesh, and I almost fell several times. I tried to get YakTrax to stand by their product, but they did not. The tread on Due North cleats uses metal cleats inserted into the rubber sole, similar to what a studded snow tire looks like, so the snow does not collect on these treads. I imagine the metal cleats will wear out eventually, but in the meantime I am no longer risking my life by wearing YakTrax.

INCREDIBLE PRODUCT
As an Ice Fisherman and lifelong Wisconsinite, I have decades of experience with winter traction issues and the ice grippers that attach to standard shoes. Now that I bus to work daily I needed something which was more substantial and had shorter spikes so that walking on sidewalks and roads isn't likely to cause a stumble. These are impressive out of the package. Tough, nobbly traction, and a well-balanced positioning of front and back spikes make for a flat footed walk on all surfaces. I've worn them over hiking boots which was fine, but more difficult to get on because they're made of very heavy duty rubber. That said, if you've got weak hands or arthritis these are NOT for you. But for me, a wearer of Adidas Size 13 shelltoed kicks on most days, they go on and off without a struggle, and look badass as heck. People ask me about em all the time. And I can walk with total confidence as a guy over 300 bills in all weather. It's actually helped me to walk more upright (evolution) and improve my hip arthritis because I am tracking with both feet without any need to compensate or step lightly. Few things are as good as advertised. Even fewer are better. These are.

Great quality
This is worth the money. They stay on your feet and work great on ice.

Size up and they’re perfect!
5 stars! Simply amazing for icy conditions. When walking, either your foot skids forward when your heel hits the ground or your you slip when you push off your toe. Finally, cleats that solve both of these problems and I can walk with confidence. But size up!! I have a woman’s size 9.5 boot and the large is perfect. I would guess most men’s boots would need the extra large. Women can probably use the medium if your size is less than 9

Incredible and worth every penny. Don’t cheap out on safety.
I purchased a pair of these at the same time I purchased a cheap pair of Chinese rubber ice cleats for half the price. Just to test them out against each other. I was blown away by the quality, durability, ruggedness, materials, fit, and comfort of this Due North product. I think the big difference between this and the other pair is that these grip the ice, and penetrate the elements. The cheap Chinese pair is better than nothing, but not by much. I definitely still felt slippery with the other pair. These, however, are the real deal, industrial grade, and I purchased a pair for my in-laws following this experience as well. I do about a third of my walking indoors. These traction aids perform well under normal, non icy conditions such as streets and hard flooring indoors. You will find that other competitors products are hard to walk with outside of the snow. These are great, but watch out because they’re so durable they will probably damage hardwood flooring. But where these really shiny are outdoors, in snowy and icy conditions. The last thing I’ll say about this is that the fit is perfect. They wrap around my shoes, and are actually a bit of a pain to pull off. There is a 0% chance they would fall off by themselves while I’m walking or running. This is much better than the other problem to have, which would be that they fall off under normal conditions, which happened with my other pair of Chinese knock offs. Would highly recommend. I don’t know how I lived in the Midwest for eight years without this.

Easily slip off Muck boots
On uneven surfaces, I found that they easily slipped off my Muck boots. Many times I'd look down and notice that I was missing one or both of them. Then I'd retrace my steps to find them.

Truly heavy duty!
I have been looking for a pair of slip-on ice spikes for my heavy winter boots for a while. Nothing seemed to fit due the fact that the boots are all rubber with winter liners and bulky. When I read a review on these from a person who had size 14 shoes, I thought I's give them a try. My boots are only size 10, but the bulkiness makes up for any size difference. I put them on as soon as they arrived, which was probably not smart since it's February and they had been riding around in a cold Amazon truck all day, and were very stiff. It took a little tugging and pulling, but I got them on, and they fit perfectly (see the pictures). I'm mid-70's and my fear is that I will fall on the ice going out to the mailbox or feeding the birds. No more worries! Each unit has 14 tungsten carbide studs that should last me a lifetime. They do add some noticeable extra weight to each boot, but that's the trade-off when you get "heavy duty".

Not fit for purpose
I am a window cleaner and in the winter months, I need to be careful due to ice under foot. For the last couple of winters I have used ice grippers bought fairly cheap (sub £5) from a local shop. They did OK, not brilliant, but acceptable given the price. But I decided earlier this year to invest in a 'better quality' set of ice grippers. So did a search on Amazon based on customer reviews and ended up ordering these (using the size guide provided). Took a while to arrive, but that was OK because I wouldn't need them for a while. They eventually arrived, and I packed them away in my van in readiness for the 1st day I needed them, which turned out to be today. Went to put the first one on and the rubber at the heel tore in two places!. Absolutely fuming, these cost me 4 x more than the cheap ones I had before but I might aswell just have bought 4 pairs of them. £20 down the toilet and nothing to show for it. 8 or 9 months after placing the order, I guess I have little chance of recompense, so I'll be off to the shops to see if I can get another pair of the altogether superior £5 ones!. Lesson learned☹

Winter essential
An everyday essential for a Scottish winter. You won't be climbing an iced-up munro in these but you'll at least get down a skitey pavement in one piece. Strong, sturdy and offer great confidence in day to day icey conditions. Easy to put on and take off, just don't wear them inside as you'll poke holes in the floorboards

A Must on Icey, Snowy Sidewalks
I don't like snowy weather and surely dread it when I need to go out into the ice and snow. I'm fearful of slipping and falling. I wouldn't appreciate any broken bones. I purchased the sole traction aid and it made a huge difference. Even though the company recommends walking with care, just the same, and I do, I find that I can walk without being fearful of falling. My "walking with care" is not that high. Great product. Easy to slip on and off my boots.

Great grip easy to fit
Fantastic product did exactly what it says on the tin. Fit the size bot as order easy to take on and off and more importantly offers great amount of grip without being uncomfortable on surfaces where the ice and snow has been cleared. Did the Northern lights cruise in December and these were a godsend
