Expectations well met
I have a 20-year-old, grey, green and brown, hounds-tooth, wool jacket with a brown suede collar that developed a tear at the back of the left elbow. Although it has a tailored fit, I felt sloppy and poor wearing it; so, I put it aside. These patches are a beautiful rich shade of brown that matched the collar well and were true to the illustration. Although time-consuming, the repair was made easily by hand-sewing the patch with a slip stitch (directions found in a YouTube video). My old favorite was rescued from the clothing donation pile with a relatively inexpensive fix. I did not have to go in search of a replacement of a classic and pivotal piece of wardrobe, which would cost who knows what today! I only used one patch so I feel like a rebellious or eccentric professor wearing the jacket now. I would highly recommend these patches. I considered buying some black suede ones for a vintage grey cashmere sweater, although I hesitate because the weight of the patches may be too heavy for the sweater. (I used the lining of the coat to help support the patch.)

Great product, but...
I also bought these elbow patches to complete an 11th Doctor Who costume. The patches are very good quality and the holes are perfectly punched and evenly spaced. I did have to trim around sides a bit just to make the border even all around, but that is to be expected. I'd rather have a little extra material than have it coming up short. The only flaw with this product, and with all Dritz brand patches as a matter of fact, is that the staple THROUGH the patch to secure it into the package. There are two holes near the top of the patches. They are small, but noticeable to the trained eye. It seems odd that they wouldn't put the staples through the edge or near the holes where it could be cover with sewing. Other than that, they are perfect.

A godsend for protecting against the dreaded elbow holes
I must have really sharp elbows because I have worn holes in so many sweaters and light jackets from sitting my elbows in the table. Yeah I know it's bad manners but hey we all do it from time to time...I bought these to salvage a nice jacket which had the dreaded elbow hole. Now, I am no sewing expert and it took forever, but I did it. Gave the jacket a cute "rider" or "western" style and added some spunk. I remove a star because the holes for stitching are tiny and hard to see. Also, these are large so I would recommend getting a smaller size for sweaters or items with smaller sleeve diameter

Bees Knees and Elbow Sleeves
I have patched two sweaters in the elbow where I wear them out. Both sweaters are hand made. The patches are real cowhide, have big holes, are easy to see and stitch with thick durable thread and they have worn well. Sometimes it does pay to get higher quality if it is only going to wear in one spot, with these patches I hope to get many years of wear from the two sweaters in question. They would also work great for those boys' knees on jeans that are always getting worn out. I appreciate the convenience of having this item shipped in the regular Amazon.com box, otherwise I would have to drive to town for one item from a specialty fabric shop.

Inconsistent quality
One patch looked exactly as described and similar to the marketing photos. There was - good thickness to it and there were holes around the edges. The second patch looked like a piece of scrap suede - thin, pilling, uneven, and without clear holes. The quality of the second is so poor that it’s not usable. I’m going to return.

Light weight patches
These are thin patches. They do the job, but do not stand up to constant wear and tear.

Lovely quality and size
Just right for a mans elbow patches on a jumper for which they was used. Very easy to sew as the had the sewing holes already. Would definitely buy again if needed

Good quality, good thickness but tear in patch
I really liked the quality of the patches and they were perfect for fixing my 54 year old teddy bear's paws - I know quite random. However, when taking off the cardboard label and removing the staple it was hiding a tear in the actual patch. The photo isn't very clear but I made using the patch a bit more tricky for the paw coverings. If it was indeed to be used as an elbow patch it would have had to have been returned. Not sure how such a flaw made it through the system. Patches were good but would have been great without the tear. Bit disappointing.
