Does the job

Ordered a 5/8 bit to drill through a solid shank receiver tube. Even with the weak 12v drill and adapted 1/2” chuck, I was able to get the job done. The 18v batteries were all dead so I made due. Seemed to cut well. Can’t speak for longevity as I only had one hole to drill.

Great for drilling wood

I bought this to drill holes in wood. It works fine for this. I have my doubts that this would do well in steel.

worked to chase old holes in wood, but be mindful of the burr

I purchased the 5/8” bit to chase old 5/8” holes (in wood) I drilled with a spade bit years ago, looking to fill them in with 5/8” dowels. The holes shrunk slightly over the years and needed a little cleaning. This 5/8” twist drill bit from Drill America worked great. The only criticism I'd give is that the burrs weren't removed from the cutting edges – but for the $11 price it's about what I expected. And it's easy enough to clean up if I ever need to use this drill bit beyond chasing a handful of old holes in wood.

Impossible to find at a reasonable price in B&M or home improvement stores.

Excellent product. Retained its cutting edge after multiple uses and I needed the reduced shank in order for it to fit into the drills I have.

drill worked good, received wrong size in packaging

Ordered 1-5/16" bit, drilled the two holes in 1/2" steel I needed to and then realized that the drill was actually 1-5/8. The drill preformed good. But it's a bad deal that you put a 1-5/8" drill in a 1-5/16" box.

Didn't Fit My Skil Drill but Fit the GFs Bosch Drill

I've only used it once but it worked perfectly drilling through a metal stud to insert a 1/4 inch toggle bolt. I was surprised that it didn't fit into the chuck of my Skil drill. Thankfully it fit my GFs Bosch drill. Make sure you know the size of your drill chuck before purchasing this bit. Minus 1 star for not specifically call out the chuck size in the description or if it was it wasn't prominent enough.

It did the job..... barely

I bought this specifically for one task.... drill 3/4" holes in square steel tube. I needed to drill a total of 7 holes. Worked great on the first hole, and slowly got worse with each hole after. Despite very slow drilling using a drill press and oil, it dulled out quickly. And the very last hole.... man that took forever. I was begging the drill bit to finish!! Another complaint....Even on the first hole when the bit was sharp, I noticed it "rip" the metal instead of neatly drilling it. It also vibrated/shook my 10" heavy duty drill press!!!! Overall, it did the job at a cheap price. I will attempt to sharpen it and see how it goes if I ever need to drill holes like that again.

Finally made it through..

I had to drill out a receiver for a bike rack also. I had to fight with the first hole with the drill press and didn’t think I was going to get through the second hole until I put it in a drill and moved the drill from side to side and chewed through it.. I have bought a lot of junk and inferior products in my life but this is the grand daddy of them all. The board of directors and management of the company must just sit around at their meetings and joke about their customers using their products

not what expected

did enlarge interior diameter for two bronze faucet connectors to adapt a copper 1/2 inch exterior diameter. Resharped the drill bit 3 times for 2 holes 4 mm deep. Poor quality, not recommended. 3 stars for job completion only .
