Good little do dad
I bought this do dad to hold a 6 inch by 1/2 inch bayite Ferro rod and I love it. The Ferro rod stays pretty much tucked away and when I need it, I just extend it out use the Ferro rod, then tuck it back away.

My favorite small work buy
Love this product cause I'm tall but sometimes reaching overhead I'm just shy or it snaps my crayon but with this I get extra reach and no crayon snapping. Also(knock on wood) I have dropped it, sat on it, and everything and no breaks or cracks so far in the casing.

A Super 1/2" Ferro Rod handle
I've used these wooden keel handles years ago while working as a Shipwright (Marine Carpenter). So I know they work great for lumber marking chalks or crayons. I purchased this particular one to see how well it would hold my 6" X 1/2" Bayite Ferro Rod. It does a great job of doing just that. The first photo shows the 6" Bayite Ferro Rod in the Dixon handle. Notice that only 1.5" remains out. A 5" rod would leave but 1/2". The second photo shows the 6" Bayite Ferro Rod extended all the way out. It gives you 5.5" of extended ferro rod to strike upon. That gives the handle 1/2" to grip the rod when the aluminum nut is tightened. It appears to work great. However, I'll field test the handle this hiking season here in Montana to learn it's durability and functionality as a handle for a ferro rod.

Does not hold marker
Just like the last one I bought. The marker pushes back into the holder when you try to use it. I can’t get the nut tight enough to hold the marker tight.

Works best with amazon crayons
If youre a canadian going into your local home depot kents or rona and buy standard "wood crayons", they wont be thick enough for a good synch from the nut. however..amazons work out to some pocket change cheaper per crayon ANYWAYS...but the feel and design of this product is great. its dixon dont doubt. my skipper ordered the crayons with his, and unless your hands made of led it has no issues holding a perfect 1/2" tip out, ready to be pulled outa your pouch at any time. much better than fumbling through my designated pocket for a broken bit when labeling studs for crown. worth the couple bucks

does what it's supposed too
does what it's intended to, collet holds well compared to some other brands. didn't come with usual leather strap which was a bit of a let down. the price of crayon holders has always baffled considering its just veneer and a steel collet ring but this one is a pretty average price for the market.

Yes but needs major improvements
Fits crayons, only issue is the metal vs wood screw.... The wood easily loosens the metal "nut" and then constantly tightening it, but after a few days it seems to strip the wood threads, good idea but needs major improvements

It works okay and does the job, just don’t be too rough with it as the lock ring is plastic.
