A good quality unicycle.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, strength and durability of this unicycle. And at how fun much an 8 year old has had learning and riding it. It took her a week or two to be able to do a full circle in the driveway (30 minutes to an hour each day). This is probably the right size for anyone up to about 5 feet tall. I had to cut (hacksaw) about 3" off the end of the seat stem so that she could reach the pedals through their full cycle (She is 4 feet tall, and the bottom of the stem hits the top of the wheel if you lower the seat down very low). That has still left enough stem remaining that I'll be able to adjust the seat up as needed for the next several years of growth. One other note about assembly: there is not much to do, but it is very important to put the cranks and pedals on the correct sides. The bolts and threads go in different directions on each side, so if you do it backwards anywhere it is easy to strip the threads. Just look for the markings on each piece - they are not easy to find but they are there. A unicycle is not as hard to ride as it might seem (anyone who can learn to ride a bike - ie. with normal strength and balance - can learn). It provides a good alternative to biking since you only need a small, flat paved area in which to do it. Just don't forget the helmet, since during the time it takes to learn how to go forward many attempts end with a fall. She never had any fall that required the helmet, but as with learning a bike it's definitely a risk. One benefit of learning a unicycle over a bike is that at least the unicycle is always going slow. But there are more falls.) I learned to ride a unicycle about 35 years ago, and recently bought a larger (20") different model that cost three times as much as this one - and it is only slightly higher quality. After a few months now she can go forwards, rock to balance in one place, and go backwards without falls. It has been great fun and exercise, and helping to promote self-confidence and demonstrate how to set incremental goals and work to achieve them. Check out youtube for a wide variety of free lessons and ideas about how to get started and progress. Example beginners game: after the first few days of just trying to balance and go one full-pedal distance, using a different color chalk each day to draw a line for each new record distance achieved.) And now she can't wait until the next small local parade that allows little bikes....and unicycles.

Fun, but low quality
I bought three of these unicycles for a school, where they get several hours of use every day. It's a fun, different activity for the children, we're glad to have them. But... two of the three had problems within a month. On one, the quick-release bolt used to raise and lower the seat got stripped and wouldn't work. On another, the threads on one pedal stripped. We welded the pedal back on, and got a replacement for the seat bolt, so they're both back in use, but I was disappointed. I've been a cyclist for many decades and haven't encountered such things before. It seems like some pretty low-quality manufacturing. As for height, we, too, needed a lower height on one of them, it was a simple thing to have a machine shop cut a couple inches off the seat post.

Good for the shorter child but bring your hacksaw!
Bought this for my son who is on the vertically short side. He is 10 and wears a 6T still. We waked 4 inches off the seat post and it was ready to go. Took a few days but he is up and ridding. All the boys have them in his class this time of year and no shortage of rough usage on this one. It should make it through the school year just in time for his sister to pick up his and he can upgrade. If I can get Craig to show me his shopping cart technic maybe I'll get one. Did you day FUN?

Double check tire tubes
The product is great! The only problem with it was that the tube had a leak when we opened the box. So besides having to buy a new tube, which we are stilling searching for tube replacements, my nephew liked it a lot.

Great buy
Got this for my 6 year old. He's is average height of 7 -7 1/2 year year old. My husband still had to cut some height out of it. But overall great unicycle for beginners

Flat tire, faulty pedal.
When we unpacked this unicycleFun Chrome 16" Unicycle with Alloy Rim the inner tube had a hole in it so the tire would not hold air. Once that was fixed the right pedal fell apart after very limited use. The pedal was not repairable so we are now going to have to buy new pedals. Our grandson has been frustrated with all these problems, and so have we. Hopefully the pedals will be the last problem. We probably should have returned the entire unicycle, but then we would not have had a significant Christmas present for our grandson.

Grandson loves his unicycle.
Grandson is just learning but this unicycle seems to be the one he needs to get off on the right foot. He's having a blast with it.

The whole family has had fun with this
What do you give a kid that has mastered most everything on 2 or 4 wheels? Get him or her a unicycle. We had to cut the seat bar as it was to high. The whole family has had fun with this. PLEASE remember to wear a good helmet. There will be falls.
