Great pencil dispenser!
The media could not be loaded. I’ve wanted one of these for my classroom for ages and I finally got one. It works great!

Great for my classroom
I bought this dispenser to use in my classroom to have pencils readily available for my students. It used to bother me when they wouldn't show up with their own pencil ready to learn, but that wasn't the case. They just simply needed a pencil. So, I learned to pick my battles. However, any teacher knows around Oct./Nov. it seems like students have run out of their favorite back to school supplies and now start to eat yours! And the most common lesson distraction is 10 students asking for a pencil and then taking it to the sharpener to sharpen it. So, I fill this dispenser up and voila! The kids love that it's clear and for some reason love to see the pencil pop out. The only issue I have is that the pencil does POP OUT. It usually rolls out onto the floor if your hand isn't in front of it to stop it. Also, the knobs used to turn the rod that dispenses the pencils are screwed on. So, they are constantly getting loose and I have to tighten them. Overall, I like it. Will probably keep it as an item in my classroom.

Fun teacher gift!
Bought this to fill with pencils for a teacher gift! She LOVED it! The pencils do stick a little sometimes and are hard to get out but overall I think it’s a good product!

Looks as if it will work
I just received my "pencil dispenser". Some reviews complained about one knob not being attached. Fact, the left hand knob was probably never installed so that the dispenser could fit into a box. (Mine came with the screw separate from the knob.) It requires a very strong grip to push the ball onto the brass screw firmly. Everything was inside a plastic bag so nothing was lost. However, a careless person might lose the screw and knob if they aren't careful. I noticed that the pencils will dispense whether you turn the knob in one direction or the reverse. Now to see if third graders will treat it with enough respect for it to last for a while. I bought this as a gift so it hasn't been tested yet in the classroom. It did work with the 4 pencils I tried. I wanted to get a really snazzy metal version but I noticed that they do not have a long "trough" to catch the pencil; instead there are two hooks which are separated by an empty space. Pencils would most likely get stuck or roll away. That wouldn't work in a classroom. Note: To load the pencils, the top slide has to be kept very level and moved slowly so it doesn't jamb or break. This is something that should not be left up to a child.

Pencil Stuck
I don’t want this review posted - I just didn’t know how to contact the seller. I bought this for a teacher gift and the pencils do not dispense. They get stuck. It’s looks Like one side of the plastic has a smaller space so the Pencil gets stuck. Is this common or maybe a defect?

Straw dispenser dispenses straws (yes really)
I wanted a straw dispenser to dispense straws, not pencils. NONE of the dispensers I could find reviewed on Amazon could give me this info so I took a chance on this one based on design and price. It did exactly what I needed it to do. We use a lot of bendy straws in our home and this allowed small hands to dispense the straws easily. If a straw is somewhat bent it can get caught in the rolling dispenser but it's easily fixed with a few wiggles of the rod. Occasionally the knobs do come loose and that's easily fixed (like any loose knob; it's no big deal at all). The top slides back for the dispenser to be filled. The bottom grip is excellent. It never moves from its spot. So whatever you put in it, it works exactly like it's supposed to. And if you're looking for a straw dispenser that dispense actual straws and does it well without being obtrusive on your kitchen design, here's your winner.

Only good for jumbo plastic straws, not paper straws
I purchased the Winco ACSD-712 Acrylic Straw Dispenser for jumbo paper straws. I use a different type of dispensers for jumbo plastic straws but they don't work for paper straws. The reviews said good for paper straws. Wrong. Paper straws purchased from Webstaurant (EcoChoice #485UPJ7GDSTR) are smaller than jumbo plastic and slip through the place between the slotted roller bar and bottom of dispenser. The result is multiple straws are dispensed with each turn of the knob. Also when the straw comes out the bottom it rolls out of the dispenser and falls to the ground. I will be able to modify it to work for my needs. It's not the manufactures fault, just an FYI for anyone wanting to use it for paper straws. Side knobs were loose so I used a little crazy glue and solved that problem. Would I purchase again. Unless there is a better dispenser for straws, I'd purchase again.
