Big game, small components.
Take DNA, make dinosaurs, place them in your park and keep your security high before anyone gets eaten. This is a roll & write version of Dionaur Island, wish I haven't played. But I love roll & write games so I got this one and love it. Why? It feels like a big game, many things happening. It feels like you are running a dinosaur park. It have replay value and multiple strategies or ways to try. It's relatively small and easy to set up. It's just 30 - 45 min. I would not recommended for new to the hobby players, even though they can catch up. Probably if you are and enthusiasts, you would prefer the big Dinosaur Island game. If you like roll & write games, this is a step up in the gender. And a fantastic one.

Great couples game
We have several roll and writes in our collection and they run on the lighter side of strategy. This one has good depth without getting overly thinky. Our go too game for a quick filler game 30-45 minutes. Very enjoyable.

Too complicated - poor gift!!
Gift to grandson a failure. He is 10 and plays chess but this game was frustrating and not fun! Too many pieces, too many rules. Tedious and complicated even for adults.

Engaging for Kids and Adults
My son asked for this game for Christmas. We got it and have played it multiple times over the last couple of days. It has been fun and engaging for both myself and my kids. I must admit it took me an hour to initially read the directions. I then had an overview and understood the basic concept. Then three of my children and I sat down to play. We simply walked through the direction book. It took us about 2 hours for the 4 of us to do it the first time because we were learning and their were four of us. My 7 year old daughter needed a lot of help. The directions are extremely well written and make sense. At one point I didn't understand something that they had written, but once we did the process it totally made sense and I was thankful for the extra help. There hasn't been anything that I am left wondering about how to do. The basics of the game are that you have two sheets of paper. On one you draw your dinosaur park, track your DNA to make dinosaurs, and record the dinosaurs you have made. On the other sheet, you keep track of your specialists, and work through the steps of running your park. There are 10 dices that you use each round to determine the resources that you get. You receive threats based on how dangerous the dinosaurs are that you make, but you also get extra excitement points the more dangerous things are. After you run your park you have to determine your death toll. If you have enough security then you are fine, if not then you have to resolve the issue by loosing resources. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins. We have played with 4 players and with 2 players. There is also a way to play solo also. As a mom, I have really enjoyed this game. I will say, the box says ages 10+. My daughter at 7 years old gets some of the game, but doesn't really understand the actual creation of the park. My 8 1/2 year old son, who asked for the game, understands how to do it and does just fine playing it. My 10 year old son does a good job too. They all really like it. Pros: Engages both kids and adults Directions extremely well explained and make sense The game changes every time you play. Great for your Dinosaur lover You can play solo if you want. Cons: It takes time to read through all the directions initially. The first game will take extra time to walk through each phase and do, but it isn't confusing and worth learning to play. Bottom Line: This is an extremely well made game with excellent instructions on how to play. Even if you aren't into dinosaurs, I highly recommend this game. In fact just writing this review makes me want to play it again.

Amazing Game with a Few Customizations!! ????
Dinosaur Island: Rawr 'n Write is a really good game. This was one of the first "modern" roll-&-writes added to our collection and I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of play that has developed in this genre. Players draw dice from a bag to form a dice pool, draft dice, gain resources and then perform actions as they develop their own custom dinosaur park. At three intervals, players get to "run" their park to gain additional resources and perks based on the success of their park development. After the last "run" phase, victory points are are counted and the winner is determined. Components for this game are really well made. It comes with 10 chunky "amber" DNA dice, a cloth bag, two double sided player sheet pads, building and specialist cards, as well as cards for single player mode. The building and specialist cards add variability to each game, by introducing public objectives for each game and grant additional victory points. The only component that disappointed me was the first player marker. What comes with the game is an awkward oversized cardboard "amber" nugget. Really un-impressive compared to the look of the rest of the game. So I went on the hunt for a new first player marker, something thematic and unique to replace original. What I found was epic, a set of three baby dinosaurs cracking out of their eggs. They blend with the game perfectly since there is one from each category of dinosaur (herbivore, small carnivore, and large carnivore). When I originally saw them I was not sure they would be small enough to fit in the game box without removing the insert, but they are perfect. I have included a picture of how I store them without any modifications. Originally I intended to choose only one and keep the rest for other uses, but I thought ..... maybe I can incorporate all of them because they blend so well with the game. Then it hit me, tournament play!!! I use all three, with each being retained by the winner as a 'trophy.' We start with the herbivore (triceratops), move on to the small carnivore (velociraptor), and then the large carnivore (t-rex) as a tie breaker if needed. It is so much fun to incorporate the different dino types into the game play. It's like they were made as deluxe components specifically for my game. I glued the eggs to the bases, they don't come attached. I also customized my game by laminating the player sheets, and use ultra-fine tip dry-erase markers. I also added nine transparent cubes in different colors to place over each round indicator on the round track (the game comes with one cube that you move along the track). I prefer building the track with multiple cubes, it makes it feel a little more thematic like you're using little DNA cubes (and it's so pretty as the track fills up). Love this game! ????

Uno de los mejores roll and write del 2021
El juego casi no parece un roll and write. Tiene su complejidad y su truquito. Basicamente, sacas dados de la bolsita, reclamas los recursos y luego los colocas en el tablero para realizar una acción de las 4 disponibles. Repites este paso otra vez y despues a ejecutar el parque. Gana quien mayor puntaje tiene. El juego en solitario es bastante bueno como jugarlo en multijugador. Tiene 20 cartas de construcciones especiales y especialistas. Tu nada mas requieres 3 y 3. Po lo tanto, el juego tiene una alta rejugabilidad. C Creanme que no se van a arrepentir.... y si les preocupa gastarse el papel, no se preocupen hay una app que remplaza al papel y puedes jugarlo desde tu cel o tableta. Las partidas me tardo entre 45-60 minutos jungado dos personas. Este es de esos juegos de mesa que te deja un buen sabor de boca y te pide a gritos echarte otra partidaca!!!! Tu que estas leyendo esto, no lo dudes y agregalo a tu carrito y dale comprar!!!

Estupendo!
El juego en el que está basado está muy caro y tenía dudas. Luego vi reseñas sobre este y la sorpresa de que a pesar de estar basado en un "juego de mesa de verdad" estaba muy bien. Me animé y no me arrepiento. Está muy bien! Hay mucho que hacer y el tiempo se acaba! es emocionante y un poco estresante, cómo generar más dinero, ya coloqué mal un edificio, ¡no tengo caminos!, se escapó el dinosaurio y destruyó el parque, uff!.

No es para mí
Demasiado largo, enredoso, aburrido, los entre turnos son lentos, se pierde mucho tiempo en ver cómo dibujar y darle seguimiento a los combos es tedioso, me da más AP en seguir los combos y dónde acomodar los edificios que en el juego es si como gastar recursos o elegir dados. Ha sido de mis grandes decepciones en este año.

Es maravilloso
Es muy divertido jugarlo en multiplayer como en solitario, además las hojas son doble cara y por si se te llegarán acabar existe una app tanto en iOS como Android para usarla. El inglés es muy básico entonces no es ningún problema. Me sorprendió porque no esperaba mucho, sinceramente la temática del parque de dinosaurios no me llamaba la atención sin embargo me hizo cambiar de opinión. Altamente recomendable.

Buen juego e interesante
Buen juego que mezcla el r&w con una leve colocación de dados y gestión de recursos, así como un puzzle interesante con tu parque de dinos. Super recomendable y la dependencia del idioma es casi nula.
