TL:DR? These cast aluminum anchor and rope trivets make a nice addition to any dinner table and function just as well, but be careful of unfinished bottom edges. The Build: Made from a solid piece of aluminum, the trivet pair features an anchor and rope design that doesn’t protrude from the surface face. The top grooves are buffed smooth and its very polished and shinny. They are a generous 8 inches a piece with rubber feet that keep it about an inch off the table. There’s plenty of open space in the design, allowing for heat to dissipate versus plague (and eventually warp) your table underneath. The back is unfinished and back edges can be sharp. Be careful not to cut yourself. The Use: These are really great and they match our nautical theme to a T. I did find that a glass bottom dish can slide a bit across their surface, so just be careful when dishing up food (i.e. have you or someone else hold the corner to avoid a spill or something). Two things that bother me though. The first is, being aluminum, they transfer heat like crazy. This means that even after your scalding hot dish has cooled a little, the trivets may still be hot themselves. The bottom edge is also super rough and unfinished. It is quite easy to cut yourself and a nasty one at that. I’m probably going to get me a metal file and smooth out those edges. Children and adults should be very carefully when handling them! Comes in a package of two. +Pros: +Keeps hot food off the table at a good distance +Nautical, anchor and rope design +Cast aluminum with high shine (very silver, shiny, and pretty) +Rubber feet to keep trivet from slipping +Even resting surface +Package of two +Light weight -Cons: -Very sharp, dangerous bottom edges (may need to file) -Can get very hot from heat transfer (don’t touch!) -Dishes, particularly larger ones, may slip across its surface -Not as long lasting as cast iron Overall, I really like these trivets and will be using them every chance I get. I will be getting a file at some point because I don’t wan’t little fingers (or my own) to get cut. 4.3 out of 5 stars for the edges (rounded to the nearest star).

Nicely Nautical

If you live by the coastline, the DII Cast Iron Anchor and Rope Trivet are an absolute must. If you don’t live by the coastline, the trivets are an absolute must also! The nautical design not only looks great, but adds a special sparkle to any table setting. Of course, you don’t have to worry about scratching a surface with the trivets since they have rubber pegs underneath. On the practical side, even though they are lightweight, they work well and keep table surfaces and counters protected from hot oven dished, pots and pans. On the down side, these are no way cast iron but a much cheaper metal. Too bad! Otherwise, they would have earned a perfect score. Overall, however, I would recommend these budget-friendly trivets. 3.5 stars

I like them, but...

The DIO Trivet set with anchor design is heavy duty casted metall. They are attractive and sturdy, but my casserole dishes and pans slide off when barely nudged. I no longer use them as trivets, but hung them on the wall for nautical decor.

Nice even if not cast iron

These are excellent for a home with a nautical theme, which describes our condo perfectly. And about the only thing we didn't have there that was tied into the theme was trivets. These can be displayed when not in use, since they're so nicely done. Feet are protected so they don't scratch tables or counters. And it's nice that they come in a set of two.

Light and nautical

These are adorable nautical trivets. They are so light, lighter than they look. To me, it makes them seem a little cheap. But its nice for children or elderly to be able to handle the trivets easily. Since they are functional but unlikely to cause injury they would be a great kitchen stock item for a rental or Airbnb unit. It has a classic anchor and rope design in a silver tone and 4 bottom feet with stompers so it wont slide and wont scratch the table. Use 1 for a small dish or both tohether under a large casserole dish.
