PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!!!

I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED when I received these Santa Cake Stands!!!! It was better than expected!!!! I purchased several of them for Christmas gifts and I struggled with wanting to keep one for myself!!!! The colors are vibrant and it is classy looking. It makes a very nice Christmas gift!!!!

Just add cake

OK, I'll be honest: my wife is the one who wanted this, not me. Personally, I don't get it. It's a cake stand? But you won't see the design if the cake is sitting on it. As a cake stand, it can't have any sort of lip, so you can't use it to hold candy. You can place a bowl on it, but then, you could place the bowl right on the table, too. And it's a hand-wash only item... BUT, she loves it. She thinks its adorable and is eager to put it to use this holiday season. So, now I need to be objective... My *opinion* is that this isn't a terribly useful item, but my wife would disagree with me, and so I don't think that should affect the star rating at all. The stand itself is sturdy, although it is obviously made of 2 separate pieces--the stand and the platter. These are permanently attached, although there is a bit of a gap between the 2. As long as you aren't viewing the piece from below or strictly horizontal (that is, if you are viewing it from slightly above, as will almost always be the case) then aesthetically, it makes no difference, but if you DO see the gap, it does lend a certain feeling of "cheap". If I had a concern, it would be that I suspect when this thing finally does go, it will be because this joint gives out, but for now, it appears adequate. The painting is well done with nice, bright colors (some other reviews say it is sloppily done, but mine looks perfectly fine to me). With the large gap between the stem and platter, I'd call this a 4.5 star product. I have to choose 4 or 5, so I'm going to round down simply because as I noted above, I just don't get it, but I'm sure if my wife was reviewing, she'd round up. You can take your pick.

Use it for serving or just put it on dispay

This is a cute serving plate that will add some festive detail to your Christmas table. The colors are vibrant and the plate simply looks fun. If you want to show off the design, you can put it in a plate stand and forget about the desserts. The surface of the plate is raised--not textured, but giving a three dimensional look to the design. Thus, it wont work for cakes or anything else that needs to sit level. This makes storage a little tricky as nothing sits flat on top of it, so you'll probably want to store it wrapped in something soft (and hey, you're probably storing Christmas napkins anyway...).

Festive!

This is a really fun and bright cake stand. The only cake we make during the holiday season is cheesecake, and you'd want to keep that (or really any cake) on another plate (or, in the case of the cheesecake the springform bottom) so that you do not damage (i.e., scratch/chip) the cake stand with your knife. That's a bit problematic/inconvenient. As we prefer pies, which are typically left in the plate, I think this cake stand is perfect. I also think (and will likely use it) to stack cookies on. It may be a bit over-priced, but I like it overall.

Too Cute to Cover With Cake

I wasn't sure what to expect with the DII Santa Christmas Cake Platter, but once I opened the box, it was an instant hit with the family. My daughter, who loves to bake adores the platter and plans to use it throughout the season. My wife thinks it would look great on a table as a centerpiece, with or without dessert. In my opinion, the painted Santa face is too cute to cover with food. It is a get-into-the-spirit accessory that adds whimsy to the room. The quality of the platter is descent. It has some heft to it and something I would expect to find in a gift store. The art and coloration is well done. The glaze over the surface gives it a reflective quality that really makes the colors pop I anticipate this joyful platter will be used in our household for years to come. I also think this unique, functional piece would make a sweet gift for your favorite baker. ~ Kort

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

This is too cute and is as Christmas as it gets. Cakes, and deserts will look good on this stand, although you'll hate having to cover up the design by putting anything on it. Made of ceramic and nice details. You can tell someone took the time to create this with their hands and they did a very good job. The base looks removable but it is not. Can't wait until Christmastime to use this.
