Nice looking but poor functional design

Don't buy this and expect it be usable without some extra work. I wanted this one because I wanted something fun to burn incense in that would catch all of the ash and I didn't like the way other dragon themed burners looked. Other reviews noted this thing is too small for common incense sticks and has some other flaws, which I was willing to tolerate because I have a drill and willingness to modify it into usefulness. Looks wise it is exactly what I wanted so I am happy about that. From a functional perspective this is terrible. The main problem is the open area is way too short. My example stick in the photo wouldn't fit even if you cut off all of the part that you don't want to burn. Also the provided hole to stick the incense stick into is very shallow and is angled so the stick will be pushed up against the roof. The solution here is to drill your own hole, as horizontally as you can manage, out the back of the opening, but even with that you will still need to burn down the stick a little or cut off beforehand because of how short the opening is. Additionally, there are no holes in the nostrils! Instead the holes are along the roof line so smoke would rise from the center. Not nearly as cool looking. Again, the solution is to drill your own holes in the nostrils so smoke can come out of them. If someone made this exact thing but actually ready to use out of the box, I would give this 1 star and tell you to buy the other one instead. Because there isn't really anything else out there that I could find I'm giving it 2 stars. This upgrades from a 2 to a 3 if you know about the flaws from reading the reviews and are willing to accept them.

Not alot of smoke

This item works better as a decorative piece. There is not alot of holes to let the insence smoke out of it actually chokes off the aroma.

I mean it's a dragon

So I purchased this with the intention of burning incense in it. It is much larger than I thought it was, but the standard sticks will not fit, and even trimmed down the incense kept going out on mine. I purchased some "Shorties" and will test it today to see if that works better, but so far totally disappointed that I cannot actually burn incense in it, without removing the top part and that defeats the purpose of having the dragon "Smoking". I do love it regardless, it is just the functionality is poor which is why I gave it three stars. For looks? 5 stars or more all the way.

Striking and beautiful dragon.

Tuscano never fails to create incredibly detailed items, this is one of them. Well made, thick, easy to line up. A great gift for a Dragon lover. Have not cleaned it yet, but the two pieces would make cleaning easy.

Beautiful piece, small design flaw.

This dragon looks amazing especially when it's in use. CON: standard incense sticks(satya sai) need the end cut down in order to fit inside and depending on the angle once it’s seated in the holder the lit and touches the roof of the dragons head and goes out repeatedly. We either burn it down without the top on until it reaches a lower point in the stick OR rotate the incense until it arches low enough to fit below the lid. A bit frustrating but it's a heavy, solid, detailed piece of work and it looks great in our home. Update: we’ve had this piece for almost a year and it’s still awesome. CLEANING TIP: if at any point you notice your incense sticks are being snuffed out, check the dragons nostrils along the top. They can fill up with resin and dust blocking air flow.

So awesome! Very cool incense burner for the price

The media could not be loaded. First off, I absolutely love this thing. Totally worth it, I'm surprised to find something of this quality for this price. I'd expect to find this at a store for at least $60. It looks great on my dresser when not in use, and even better with incense burning. Nice to find it also has a soft velvet-y bottom so it doesn't scratch whatever surface it's on. It came packaged very well, no teeth or anything broken. Cons: -Yes, most typical sticks are too long. I suggest either getting smaller ones (Japanese style incense), or simply doing what I did and snapping off most of the bare end, and snipping off a tiny bit off the top if you need still. -The angle for the holder is too high for some sticks. I've only found this with ones with a thicker end, thin ones lay fine. Even with the thicker ones, just bend the end a little (don't snap it completely off, just enough that it angles it downward) and it can be low enough to put the top of the dragon head on. -If you have a problem with it extinguishing the incense, try sliding the head a little backwards, so the teeth aren't sitting directly over the holes. It still looks normal, and you can slide it back forward when it's not in use to cover the holes. Also wait and let the incense burn for a few seconds before putting the top on. Even though it should have been designed to make sure the average incense sticks both fit completely, and sit at the correct angle, I still recommend. For the price, I really don't mind snapping a tiny bit of some of my incense off. The visual effect, both in use and not, makes it worth it for me personally.

Cool gift. Easily chipped, delicate.

This is a beautiful dragon's head. Highly detailed. Mine came with a tiny chip, but it is not easily seen. It doesn't accept a full length incense stick, so the mechanics of the design could be improved. While the incense is lit, the smoke comes out between the teeth. Very cool. Be aware that this is a highly fragile item, and not for every day use. They lost one star for the chip and fragility, and lost another for having to cut the standard sized incense stick to fit.

The overall product is really cool. It has good weight to it. The details are really good. Plus when the smoke comes out of the holes, it looks cool.

Très beau, mais peu pratique pour l'encens

Superbe dragon, ma blonde l'as peinturé (photo), tu vas être jaloux :P Par contre, pour utiliser l'encens ce n'est pas pratique, il faut couper les bâtons parce que trop long et ca tendance a chauffer le dessus en dedans parce que pas assez d'espace. ... il va servir de décoration, beaucoup de détails, très satisfait quand même !
