Ok, lets skip past the idiots who have issues and give one star, and also skip past the idiots who know nothing and give five star... The truth is that this pump is above average in power, and has good quality parts and metal outputs. The truth is although the pump CAN pump out more air at maximum, it wasn't intended to do so without loosing lifespan and making more noise. Using it around the halfway mark makes it perform more quiet than any wisper pump(!) It runs exceptionally quiet, and with good power at almost halfway! Also, Dont use splitters if you want your pump to last. It has TWO ouputs. That is obvious to optimally use for just two items. Need more stuff connected? Get another as these are cheap for the performance. Wanna be cheap and dumb, no problem. Just use this pump for multiple lines and join both outputs together so one side affects the other, and finally, boost the output on the dial.. just crank it up! Then come back in 3 mo to cry & complain out a one star review how it failed or was too noisy... We don't need to hear crybaby stories. People in this day & age are just not up to accepting thier responsibilities and admitting their errors. Yet they are not totally to blame because did anyone ever teach you how to use a simple pump?!! Lets face it, most all airpumps today and in past were made by companies who counted and relied on you to overload them, so they can sell you more when it breaks. They are counting on you to stress the unit, and especially to combine both sides into a multi-valve splitter. What happens is, that now there is pressure pushed back, as now both sides have a pressure load of other other on them. Perfect way to prematurely destroy the pump silicone valves over time. Just be smarter than the manufacturers's designed obsolescence, and get multiple pumps, with variable dial turned down (to tone down noise) & multiple outputs ( like this one ) and you will be happy. Remember, don't combine both sides(big mistake), and don't stress a pump with a multiple valve splitter. Last important thing, is to also check & install your "one-way" valves, so you won't find a pool of water on your floor.. Good luck. Update, ok so I am still running on same two pumps, and while the output seems a bit less(could be the first one) the pump is still working nice and quiet... That is with using large airstone pads, so there is more load on them, than if I used simple sponge filters, which have almost no resistance. So I got another tank, and it's time to buy another pump. This pump.
