Case Fits Powerhouse Dual Fuel Lantern Perfectly
This case fits my Powerhouse Dual Fuel lantern perfectly. I left the tank of the lantern set in the base of the case when I used it on its first camping trip and the lantern was just as stable as setting the tank directly on a table. I read some reviews questioning the security of the tabs that lock the case cover onto the base, so I got a 4-pack of 48” lashing straps (Ayaport brand, sold on Amazon) and wrapped it around the case for extra insurance against the base & lantern falling from the top of the case. The black strap looks tidier than using rope or twine. However, I do not see how the locking tabs would come loose on their own, unless I was really lazy when attaching the case cover to the base.

Lantern protection
We bought this to protect our lantern and globe during transport. This does the job.

5th case in 20 years. Exactly the same and awesome.
I don't understand what all the fuss and disappointment is about. I've used these cases for my Coleman lanterns for 20+ years and have never had one fall out on me. The design hasn't changed and the quality remains the same as my first one. I buy a case for each of my lanterns because they provide the perfect amount of protection while not taking up too much extra space. I think it might be tricky for some, as the ball nut needs to align with the recess in the top of the case for the cover to fully seat all the way down on the base. This needs to happen for the case to latch properly and you can't see what's going on inside while doing it so maybe that's the issue. And the case will NOT latch on it's own; there are nubs on the bottom of the bumps that protrude through the cover. Once seated properly, the sides of the cover will snap over these nubs when pushed inwards, and it will not come apart once snapped into place. Even rough handling will not pop the sides open. If this is hard to picture from my description, try doing this without the lantern in place and it will easily latch properly and securely. I think for those that had their lantern fall out did not have it latched properly. It could probably hold 30 lbs or more in there without a problem. Once the design is understood it will instill confidence. I've hiked steep trails up and down while carrying the lantern case by the handle and have never felt the need to add a safety rope or tape to hold the bottom in. The case will protect the lantern more than a cardboard box, and it is pretty much rainproof. By design, falling rainwater cannot get into the case if it is sitting upright. But it is not shockproof and provides no cushioning. So pack your lantern in your 4x4 with care and it will be fine but you can't throw it or run it over and expect protection. And you can't put your lantern in the case while it is still hot, lol. Common sense folks, the latern uses fire and your brand new case is plastic.

Must have to protect your favorite lantern
This is almost identical to the older cases. Decent fit but most of all it protects your lantern. My only complaint is the same as it has always been. They can be a bit difficult to open and shut. Nevertheless, a necessity.

Fits dual fuel Northstar (also called model 2000)
I can confirm, this will fit a dual fuel Northstar lantern. The one powered by white gas / coleman fuel / gasoline. This lantern is also called a model 2000 or 2000B. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is either slide the rubber base up a little bit, or remove it. It fits firmly into the bottom piece, a little tighter than expected, but still as though it was designed to do so... be careful not to break the mantle while snapping it into place! I do wish they made the old side opening cases for newer liquid fuel lanterns, but they don't, and this really isn't a bad case. It is so much better than nothing. A more secure latch would be great, but I have 2 of these, and have not had a lantern fall out, or one of the plastic tabs/latches break. I love my 2 white gas lanters, campground and car camping WOULD NOT be the same without them, the gentle wisper they make, the softness, and unique feel of the light, the reliability, ease of use, convenience, and wonderful atmosphere that they cannot be duplicated... not by propane, not by butane, and definitely not at all by LED. Sadly, these lanterns are a seeingless and less use... "collectors" (horders) are removing the from service just to have them collect dust, folks are throwing them away, or letting them fall into disrepair, and though there are many out there, production is decreasing, and so is the availability of parts to keep them going. Keep yours safe in a case! Keep it running, use it to draw those who might sit in an RV in electronic light, in front of a TV outside, to the picnic table to tell stories, play cards, or even just to enjoy the ambiance with a light that doesn't fight the night, but creates a hub of warmth to enjoy the night in. I have spent many hours of my life sitting in the glow of a white gas lantern, going back to some of my earliest memories... keep these special lights safe and running for the next generation!

Lantern didn't fit
Looks like a nice enough case but didn't fit my vintage Coleman Lantern model 228H195. The Ventilator (hood on the top) of the lantern was just too big.

Make sure you get the correct size for your lantern!
A good case to protect the 295 power house Coleman lantern. There is a smaller case available but this is for small lantern models and doesn't fit the 295, so be aware of this. I made the mistake. The case comes in 2 parts, the base that the lantern fuel tank recesses into this is quite a snug fit, you can store a few spare mantels between the underside of the fuel tank and the base of the case. Then there's the main body that covers the lantern and protects it. It's made of reasonably robust plastic. There's enough room to get the Coleman supplied filler funnel up the inside of the main cover and the lantern. As has been mentioned in previous reviews the means that the base and main body of the case couple together is 2 small moulded plastic lugs on the base section that recess and clip in to cut outs on the main body of the case. For me this system has I high potential to get damaged and fail in time and with use. The cut outs in the main body feel pretty weak. Only time will tell, you also need to ensure that you have properly clipped the base and main body together otherwise you could go to pick it up and the base will fall out of the main body. All in all a pretty basic and straight forward design that will protect the lantern in a far better way than the original cardboard box it came in. For what ever reason this case is only available from the United States. However this didn't prove too much of a problem, door to door the delivery took 7 days. Pretty good, I feel. It was well packaged and protected.
