Nice Tire Carrier
Great tire carrier for the price. Did the job for a 6x180mm bolt pattern, steel wheeled spare on the back of our small, Class C dually RV. This is likely the largest diameter bolt circle for a six lug wheel this carrier can accommodate. Lack of any provided hardware allowed me choose what I preferred. Three Grade 5, 3/8 inch diameter bolts with fender & lock washers secured the spare to the angled mount. I liked the choice of three positions for depth & selected the one bringing it in closest to the back of the RV. A StowAway hitch tightener eliminated any rattle problem. An Aomacsi tire cover completed the deal with a good look. A locking hitch pin was added to deter theft as well as a nylon covered steel cable with padlock between wheel and the Curt.

Good Rack, Needs to Come with Lugbolts.
Purchased this to mount a full size spare on my Outback, since it won’t fit where the donut spare goes. For the price, this was a near perfect solution to the problem. The mount is solid and sturdy, and I had every confidence it could survive thousands of road miles (it did, when I drove from Alaska to Montana and back). There is just one flaw, and one caution, purchasers should recognize. The flaw with this, is that it doesn’t include lug bolts. So receiving it doesn’t mean it’s ready to go. I had to go to Lowe’s an purchase some carriage bolts and nuts to mount the tire onto the assembly. This presented a small problem as I had to hold a tire in place, slide a bolt through, AND put a nut on that bolt all at the same time. While I was able to eventually get it done, it is not an easy one-man job, and I was working in a warm, well lit garage, not a dark side of the road while fighting with it. Including factory lugs would be a great boost, perhaps with some sort of easy tire mounting solution so a single person can operate this. As it is, I would not count on my wife being able to do anything with this. The other caution is to consider the mount doesn’t fold. When installed on a hitch, this sits in front of my lift gate, so I cannot access the rear of the car. I planned ahead for this, but some of the tools you need to say, unmount the tire from the assembly might not be accessible in their default storage spot in your car. Planning ahead is necessary in this case, and can be a pain of finding new storage spots in a full car for those emergency tools Overall, a solid item, worth the price I paid, and I’m happy with it. That said, think ahead and if you want this mounted full time or are relying on ease of use, probably look for a more expensive and well-refined model.

Best Investment for my Truck
I read a lot of the reviews on this product, some positive and some not so much, still for what I wanted, this was the best product I could reasonably get for the price. I watched as it travelled from the northern states to north Georgia, and was at work when it arrived. When I arrived home, I found the product in a very heavy duty cardboard box. This was a surprise since many reviews said it would arrive without one. There was no hardware, so I put a spare pin in the bracket and mounted it to my truck front end. I don’t have a spare yet, but since I am in a lot of traffic driving to work, and since the front of my truck is mostly 20 year old plastic, I figured some steel in front couldn’t be a bad thing. I read several posts about the powder coat flaking off. Not so on mine. Perfect coating, and without the tire, it can’t even be seen from the windshield. Last night while driving home, in the rain, I was in a 3 car pile up. My truck was in the middle. A lady hit my back end, very hard, and really messed up the front of her car. I have a solid steel bumper, and literally had no damage to the rear. As I have already discussed, my front end is mostly all plastic, and when she hit me I was at a dead stop. I got knocked into the truck in front of me. I figured the front of my truck was destroyed..........but it wasn’t. Nothing. No damage at all. You could see where my Curt spare tire bracket had creased the steel bumper of the truck in front of me, but no damage to my spare tire carrier at all. Even the powder coat was perfect. I drove away from an accident that should have totaled my truck because I bought a Curt Spare Tire Carrier and put it on my truck. Best investment I’ve ever made. I’m gonna buy another one and put it in the back. Highly recommend. Best product ever.

Unusual tool
I bought this spare tire carrier so that I could carry 2 spares. We venture far enough off Main Street that I wish to have a spare spare. It comes without needed bolts, and these were easy enough to find. The tire is heavy, and I can just load / unload it. Without a u-bolt it rocks considerably inside the 2" receiver.

Doesn't work with Ford F150's integrated hood-grill assembly.
This is a very well-made product, BUT it was impossible to use as a front mount on my 2013 Ford F150 because, when the spare tire is installed on it, the tire angles backward so far that it prevents the hood-grill assembly from opening. For some unknown reason, Ford designed many of it's late model F-series truck with the front grill integrated with the hood (ie. attached to it). So when you open the, hood the grill comes up with it (really dumb design, IMO). This greatly reduces the clearance between it and any spare-tire carrier that mounts the tire at a backward tilt where the top edge of the tire gets in the way of the grill when you try to open the hood. The only way to solve the problem with these types of spare carriers (Draw Tight is another one), is to add a hitch extension, but that puts the whole assembly ridulously far out in front of the vehicle, potentially causing serious bottom-clearance problems, even going in and out of a moderately sloped driveway. (Believe me, I tried it). So, if your Ford truck comes with this poorly-conceived integrated hood-grill assembly, do not buy this item if you intend to use it as a front mount. I really wish the manufacturer (Curt) would publish a compatibility notice about this, give how common late-model Ford f150s are out there; so that's why the 3 stars from me (I had to return it as a cost). Otherwise, 5 stars for well-made product. Probably would work great as a rear-mount, or even as a front mount on a truck without the integrated hood-grill.

Great rack for my spare!
It is very sturdy and fits very well in front of my Sprinter 2017 Thor Four Winds. I had to position my spare tire in front of my motorhome and this model is a little more expansive than others but it is made by Curt and their products are highly reliable. I am very satisfied.

Good unit with minor annoyances..
Doing an extended backcountry trip so needed to carry an extra spare. My spares are mounted on factory alloy rims to keep the weight down. Wanted to use domed wheel nuts that fit into the concave holes in the rims, so the rims would not be deformed by attachment. Meant I had to use wheel studs to mount the tire. Problem is that the mounting slots were about 8 thou narrower than the studs. Had to grind them out with a die grinder. Second annoyance was that the first gentle attempt to mount a tire chipped the paint off in a couple of places. Finish is too fragile. Third - my wheels are 6 bolt. The mount is obviously made for 5 bolt wheels. Going to have to drill a couple of more holes in the mount to fit my (F-150) rims. Still, the unit will do the job, and I'm glad I got it. Note to manufacturer - would have been nice if you had provided a simple additional mount for an off-road light bar.
