Great butter dish
I liked it so much I purchased one for my daughter. Easy to clean and when baking and your hands get oily the handle on the dish makes it easy to open. Much better than ceramic ones with no handle and can slip out of oily hands. Strongly recommend this product!!!

thin, but functional
A stick of USA butter fits! Thank goodness someone posted a photo showing a regular stick of USA butter fits perfectly or I probably wouldn't have given this a try. It is impossible to see what size it is from any of the other data provided on the amazon webpage for the product, and on a previous Amazon butter dish purchase I accidentally bought a butter dish that fits British-sized butter. I don't use that size butter, though. The packaging was designed to look like Cuisinart, which is annoying. CuisinOX is NOT CuisinART. Hopefully the thin metal it is made of isn't tOXic. It is a chromed product, not brushed steel. While I would have gladly paid twice the price for a USA-made thicker brushed steel butter dish, I am happy the China came through with this. Never understood why everyone wants glass or porcelain butter dishes that break when you drop them in the sink. That's why this is getting a four star and not a three, because I am so glad there is a metal one available.

Very pleased
I'm a fan of specialty butter such as Plugra that comes in double stick sized slabs. Many butter dishes don't accommodate that size. This one is just the right size. The Plugra slab, which is one of the larger sized slabs fits fine so those that are a bit smaller, will fit well too. Any that are larger won't however as it's snug with the Plugra. The stainless steel is light, but okay for this purpose. The overall size of the butter dish is not excessive so it fits well on a crowded counter and the handle is well appreciated. Don't know why my fingers are often slippery when I'm handling this sort of thing--it's not as though I slide them through the butter :)--but the dishes that have no proper handle are just harder to hold onto securely. The lower tray has a bit of depth to it which contains the butter well so it's not sliding around when you attempt to cut a piece from a cold stick. The dish washes well in the dishwasher and is easy to carry from counter to table due to the extensions on the ends. I like to have two butter dishes in use so one can be in the dishwasher while the other is in use. I dropped my previous glass dish that had no handle and didn't want another like that. I ended up with this one and a larger ceramic one that would hold an even larger slab, but is really a bit too big for my limited counter space. That one is better for table display where this one is more utilitarian looking but it is supremely functional and I'm very satisfied with it.

I paid $17. And it was too much.
Pros: [1] You can use it to serve a sumptuous feast for your cat or chihuahua. [2] The handle on the lid there is a hard-to-find, and an appreciated feature. [3] Shatter-proof. Cons: [1] Made in China. In this instance, however, you will not get your money's worth. [2] You can see the seam lines between the handle and the cover. Only a butler's white gloves could convince you that this product is anything other than faux luxury. [3] The construction is basic sheet metal, mold-pressed into shape, then coated on the exterior for a high gloss. Nonetheless, the edges are not rolled and, thus, have a rough, unfinished feel to them. They do remind me of the steam-table pans in cafeterias from which food is served. [4] The sound of a spreading knife scraping against the dish can remind one of dishes found in surroundings other than one's own kitchen. Summary: Cuisinox is a decent brand. But I think they cut a few corners here. I'm keeping this product. But I do regret getting this instead of a ceramic butter dish. Had I decided on the latter, I certainly would've saved several dollars and, at least, felt that I got my money's worth.

It's nice
We were tired of being scared we would break our glass butter dish, so we made the switch. It's wider than our old butter dish, so it goes further back into the door taking up wasted space, but it does fit, so that's all that matters. It holds the wider 8oz Irish butter - so that would explain the extra width. I like that the lid has a knob. It says it's 18/8 stainless steel on Amazon, but nothing on the butter dish, the box, or any packaging says that, so I hope it's true? Overall I think it's nice and it's doing its job.
