Great Idea.
Have been road and mountain biking for a couple years. Always hated that my clipless road bike petals always needed the shoes to pedal with. Saw these Double Shot 2 petals and definitely wanted to give them a try. Great price. Great design and construction. Rode the bike at my local off road trails with just flat shoes and was impressed with how well my feet stayed on the pedals. Switch to the clipless shoes and will probably never go back to flats on trail rides. Feet stay planted. Climbs are easier and without slipping off the pedals, it’s one less thing on my mind to worry about while riding. I like that I can wrench on the bike and take it out for a test ride in the driveway without having to throw the clipless shoes on. Great idea.

The pedals I wanted.
I got a new bicycle and wanted a pair of pedals working with Cranbrothers cleats, those are already installed in my shoes. I found these ones with a platform in one side and for cleats in the another side, plus a pair of cleats, in a nice orange color!. The platform is comfy for commuting trips or casual rides, but, not enough safe for ride on the trails since your feet could slip off. The side for cleats, is a little hard to put your shoes in/out the first couple of times, so, be aware your shoes could be "glued" on the pedals. I tried them after installed, and I couldn't take my shoe out the pedal. A couple of chain lube drops, and they are much better now. They are easy to install with the right tools. Remember to look for the tiny letters "R" and "L" for the correct side.

These pedals are amazing
I absolutely love these pedals they definitely provide me with tons of extra power and what’s great about them is if you forget to bring your your clip in shoes they have that flat pedal side that provides really good grip on them so you don’t have to worry about bringing your clip in shoes all the time.I highly recommend them.

Hybrid design is great
Love the hybrid design because I can comfortably ride with or without being clipped in.

Excellent pedal for a specific type of user
I have several rides on these pedals now, and I think I know why they are a bit polarizing. They work great as either flat or clipless pedals, BUT not both at once when out on the trail. The trouble is that the flat side has terrible grip with clipless (cleated) shoes, at least with the Shimano shoes I ride in. The hard soles of clipless biking shoes just slide off the flat side of this pedal. If you think you can use both sides of this pedal while out on the trails, think again. It's not the compromise setup one might expect- you can't clip in and then use the flatless side for a dicey part of the trail for example. The flat side just won't hold your clipless shoes. The clipless side works great though. I've had no trouble at all clipping in and out, and at least for my set of pedals, there was no break-in period required. The flat side DOES work great with non-biking shoes. I've ridden with sandals, Pumas, running shoes, and boots. They all grip well and cause no problems. Like most (if not all) clipless pedals though, the clipless side is terrible with regular shoes. These pedals work fantastic for someone like me- I have just one bike, and I ride about 50:50 on nearby singletrack and on my 30 acre farm. I don't usually feel like getting out my cycling shoes if I'm just riding down to the mailbox, rounding up my pet pigs who roam all over, or just going down to the barn to get a tool or something. They are a compromise though as one has to sometimes search for the clipless side when on the trail, but I've gotten pretty quick on it. Overall, these are the perfect pedal for my situation, but I think you'll be unhappy if these are for the trail only.

Good for a stationary bike, but wouldn’t put these on real bike
I got these to put on my Airdyne AD7 exercise bike as I’d like to use it with my mountain bike cleats and my wife wants to use it with regular shoes. For this purpose, they seem fine, but I would dissuade anyone from using these cheap plastic on a real outdoors bike, especially a mountain bike. The flat side provides very little grip and your feet would not be secure on anything but the most tame fire roads. I like Crankbrothers and use their Mallet DH pedals on my mountain bikes, but this Double Shot are kind of trash. Spend a little more and get a Candy or Mallet E pedal. The difference in quality and utility is huge.

Great option for clipless and flat
Update: About to be a year with this and they are still holding strong. Added a picture of what they look like now off the bike. I have done some pedal strikes and you can see some scrapping and lost a pin but they are still holding up very well. I am not a pro or an expert, I just started MTBing last year. Yet I wanted to buy some pedals that had more grip but I didn't want to buy twice if I decided to go clipless someday. So I purchased these Doubleshot 3 pedals. I must say, it does take time to get used to. Especially if your foot comes off the pedal. You may step on the wrong side until you figure these out if your foot comes off. I ride these in tough terrain so my foot sometimes comes off the flat side when going downhill on a rocky area. I figured out that if your foot comes off, continue to pedal with the foot that is still gripped on and the other side will rotate back to meet your foot in the right placement. I don't know if that is what does the trick or if I am just used to them that it just became muscle memory. I just figured how to get my foot back and getting used to them. I do like the option to make them have more grip with unscrewing the flat side too. The little screws do give me more traction and this has helped with not losing my footing. Maybe getting better flat grippy shoes or clipless is next.

Unable to clip in
Unable to get clipped in , used shimano sod in past and had no issues clipping in, these seem to be incredibly stiff and so far haven’t been able to clip in

This is how they should have been designed in the first place
I had the Mk2s but they were lethal in the wet as they didn't grip. These Mk3s have proper BMX studs and grip your shoes safely. Haven't used the cleats yet.

Too hard to clip in or out
Hate these pedals, they are so hard to clip into, and ankle breaking force required to unclip.
