When a Single 30-Amp Connection Isn't Enough, This Can Help
When antiquated 30-amp electric power connections are all that a campground offers, this well-sealed heavy-duty adapter enables campers to use two 30-amp connections to "trick" their RV into seeing a single 50-amp connection if the two sockets are on the opposite sides of a 240-volt connection. Otherwise, this connector simply divides the load reducing the chances of tripping a breaker on the power post. A true 50-amp connection offers a maximum of 50 amps on each leg of the 240-volt socket but most RVs, unless they are all electric, can run everything needed from less than 30-amps on each leg. Without using an extension cord, this adapter will work only where two 30-amp connections are available on a single power post. Otherwise the cables are too short. A bright blue LED on the top of each plug shows that they're energized, which I find extremely handy. A 25 or 50-foot long 30-amp extension cord to reach an adjacent campsite connection will be a necessary addition for maximum versatility. The other limitation is that if either of the connections made with this "optimizer" are protected by a GFI (ground fault interrupter) breaker, the GFI breaker will trip. The other way that this power optimizer can be used is by using a 20-amp adapter on one of the 30-amp plugs and plugging it into a non-GFI protected 15-20 amp socket which is likely to be alongside the 30-amp socket on the campsite's power post. That arrangement provides a maximum total current of just 45 or 50 amps but will still probably be enough to power all of an RV's appliances. Some RVs have sophisticated power management systems that will shed unnecessary loads if they exceed the power available, but since this optimizer may be tricking the system into seeing a 50-amp connection, managing the power loads may need to be done manually. This "optimizer" is not always a solution for inadequate campground power connections, but it may be useful often enough to justify owning one. This has kept me going at several campgrounds when nothing else worked. The accompanying photo shows this adapter connected to a 30-amp socket and an adjacent 20-amp non-GFI socket. Since that socket was on the opposite side of the power pole's 240-volt power source, the combination gave me enough power to run both of my roof air conditioners, my hot water heater, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, TV and lighting.

Great for 50 amp rigs when the campsite only has two 30 amp sockets
We spend a fair amount of time at campgrounds that only have two 30 amp outlets rather than a 50 amp outlet. This device allows us to run more loads simultaneously than we would be able to if we just used a single 30 amp to 50 amp dogbone adapter. Spend one summer day in a Georgia campground with one of these, enabling you to run both of your A/C units at the same time, and you will appreciate that this cable is money well spent. The adapter is well made using quality materials and construction. Each of the three plugs has a little blue LED to indicate that the plug is energized. One thing to be aware of: on a 50 amp circuit, both legs provide 50 amps each (100 total); with this, even though your rig thinks it is getting full 50 amp service, each leg is really only getting 30 amps (60 total). Because of this, if you have an automatic load management system, you might end up tripping a breaker because the load management system doesn’t know to shed load to keep the draw on each leg below 30 (not 50) amps. Works perfectly
I was really nervous about this device even though the logic makes sense. It splits the 240v plug into the two 120v lines that they really are. And this give you the ability to plug it into two separate breakers. We parked at a family member’s house and I used this device, along with a 30A extension cord and two 30A->20A adapters and plugged into two different 20A wall outlets. I’m now safely pulling power from two 20A 120v sources and it’s working great. Way better than using a 30A generator.

Very good adapter
Overall this adapter work very well. I was camped out 4 three weeks with my motorhome and only had two 30 amp plugs available on the post. I would have given it a 5-star rating but I wish it extended another few inches. I had to wrap around to the other side of a 4 by 4 post to catch the other 30 amp plug and this unit was stretched to the max. I did have an additional 30 amp extension but tried not to use it to gain an extra inch or two that might have been needed. Again overall it's a well-made product and worked fine on my motorhome

Absolute must add to the RV plug arsenal
We are full time RV’ers and we will stay stationary for months or years at a time, there will be intermittent travel in there but we do remain stationary most of the time. The reason that we looked into purchasing this is because we were moving to a campground that only had 30 AMP power and we have a 50 AMP fifth wheel. Design: The overall construction of the item is great, there are no points that cracked or broke during the few months that we used this. It is almost over built (and I know that seems crazy to say) but it is sometimes awkward to move the item around and get it lined up to plug in. What is nice about that though is I have no concern about the item standing up to the elements. Disconnecting the 50 AMP plug from the RV from the 50 AMP receptacle on the plug itself can sometimes be very difficult, but that again gives me quite a bit of comfort that it will not fail based on the build quality. Issues: We did have an issue of the RV continually tripping the breaker at the campground, but I think that this was a failing breaker at the park that they refused to fix. I say this because only one of the two kept tripping and it was on the same side. Positives: ++Cost ++Construction Negatives: --None Would I recommend: Yes, it should be in your arsenal of plugs that you have as an RV’er
