Beautiful Design with a Few Flaws

These were a perfect design for my Colonial porch! And they looked very nice. But I had to return them. Here are my observations... A) They arrived packed inconsistently. Some appeared to be previously used. Some had batteries rolling around loose. Some had batteries pre-installed in their compartment. Some inner lens reflectors were scratched and dirty. B) Anyone reporting these do not fit 4x4 vinyl posts did not take the pre-installed insert collar out (which reduces it to fit a standard 4x4 wood post). These are a super-tight fit, so they must be carefully forced out with a thin blade - working alternate sides until removed. C) There are a few design "flaws". The retainer tabs under the caps interfere with them sitting down all the way on any solid post. Mine hit the side walls of my 4x4 vinyl posts, too. Therefore, if you are replacing old caps, a dirty or weathered ring will show because these cannot sit as far down as the ones you are removing. D) Another small issue is the color. These are stark white, so they may not match your existing white vinyl posts. Not a big issue. Just an observation. E) They seem to work okay. You can test them by holding your hand over the light sensor. Having said that, there is one issue I could not accept: They are very sensitive to ambient light. Any porch light or passing car at night will turn them off due to the ambient light. If you live in a dark area, or have no lights on, this might be acceptable. When lit, they are really nice-looking, but since they are not on a timer (say, dusk-to-dawn), they will not be much use if the ambient light forces them to stay off. F) Keep in mind you do NOT want to glue these onto your post, like normal caps. You will need to get to the batteries. G) I cannot guesstimate the length of time they might stay lit because I could not get them to stay on due to passing cars, etc. Having said all that, dang!! - I really LOVED the look!! But at nearly $30 each, that's too expensive for an LED lighted cap that keeps turning off.

Nice, sturdy light but missing part.

My review is based on what I did receive. It’s made well and a good value. I wonder If this was a return and sold as new since the 4X4 adapter was missing, so just check for that. At first I thought it just didn’t fit but that was the problem. Otherwise I am pleased. Once i receive my replacement, I’ll update. It was an easy exchange.

Love Them.

These were so easy to install and stay in place quite well. They look beautiful during the day - adds a little touch of class to the railings. At night that cast a nice glow that provides enough light to safely go up the stairs. As with anything solar, the longer the daylight hours the longer your light glows. As we get into to winter months they don't glow for quite so long but still a great investment.

The Pros: The lights are really bright an beautiful and I am very pleased with the 13 out of the 14 I purchased. The Cons: Of the 14 lights I purchased, one (1) didn't work, the problem is in the switch. I attempted to return the light for a replacement and Amazon said it would be handled directly by the company. I have attempted on several occasions to address the issue with the company by they seem only to be interested in selling the product rather than standing behind their defects. Other than the lack of customer support the lights fine. Better order an extra in case of a problem because the company will not offer any assistance.

Good quality and easy to install

This light was easy to install and looks Great! The light is pretty bright as well. My only complaint is you only get one (I had to order an additional one because I thought they came with two) and the price is a little expensive compared to other brands.

New Version not as good.

There is a newer version of this light, that does not have a light sensor on top, compare to the older version which has the small light sensor on top, also the newer version has a single led light. The new version has issues. It will only last just over 4 hours after a sunny day. The solar does not fully charge the batteries. I have even purchased larger mah size batteries to rule out that there was a issue with the batteries that came with the unit. The light is bright and it definitely nice looking, but its useless if it only last just over 4 hours. I will be returning this one.

went and bought more!

First, I've had a few different brands of solar post caps---good and bad---these are far and away the easiest to install or to get to the battery compartment and switch...also, even though they were a little pricey, they are so worth it. Literally installed in 2 minutes...safe and secure and bright---BEST I've ever had, hands down!! I went back and bought more! I actually need over 25 and I may buy all I can find!!

One works, one does not.

Very disappointed in this product. At first, one worked when the sun went down, the other one turned on at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, when the sun was out! One stays on, the other one works for about 2 hours. Changed the battery, but it made no difference. They really are pretty and look great on our posts out front. I just wish they worked together.

Charge not holding long.

Fixtures are very nice. Lights were bright as day the first night and lasted much of the evening (5 or 6 hrs). Although overcast, the next evening the lights didn't last much more than an hour. More sun on day 3, but lights only on for a couple of hours. It will be interesting to see how long they last with more daylight hours in the summer. A little disappointed at the moment.

Great solar light for the price.

I like the solar light design and it looks good on my post. Neighbours are complimenting how good looking it is. The problem is it only lasted 6 months. Bought another one and it also lasted 6 months. Contact the manufacturer about my issue and they told me all they can do is sell me the solar caps. Not happy customer and would not recommend it.

Cheap

Bought a pair of these for my mother as her mother's day gift. They look nice and all but don't expect them to stay on for any length of time. One has an electronic sensor and other doesn't for one thing. Both get lots of sun so that's not the problem. Would be lucky to get half an hour of low light from one and other won't come on at all most nights. I've tried everything to get them working including putting new batteries in them. The ones that these lights call for too. Not wasting time sending them back. Look nice in daylight at least as a recreation. Never buy this junk.
