Tool truck quality.
These are great ratchets. I’ve been using 120xp ratchets for 7 years now in a professional automotive setting in the rust belt. They hold up to abuse well! To get the best performance out of these ratchets, I’ve found it best to lubricate them a couple times a year. I use ATF in the 1/4” drives, and permatex purple brake lube in the 3/8” and 1/2” drives. From the factory the 120xp’s barely have any grease in them. Once you lubricate them, they become so buttery and smooth. I have a couple snap on FL80s but never reach for them because I’ve found the gearwrench (once lubricated) to be much smoother and just as robust. Like any tool, with extended use they will wear out. Proper maintenance (clean + lube) helps, but it’s always a good idea to invest in a couple rebuild kits to have on hand. Rebuild kits are cheap ($15 per) and include every component of the guts. Sure you can send the tool out for warranty, but nobody wants to wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement. These ratchets are the best deal out there!

Great quality at great price
Rivals snap on quality at a fraction of the price. Own snap on fine tooth and would definitely purchase gear wrench over snap on biased off quality and value

Hit or Miss
I have a lot of products from Gearwrench, most of it is excellent value and fills the middle niche between low end garbage and top tier tools. Yep, it's Chinese but they have innovative features and usually better QC than other brands. I just got my 120XP Flex Head ratchets today and like a few other reviewers mentioned, both the 1/4" and 3/8" have uneven finishing and very off centered heads. I like the 120XP feel and I really need the flex heads so I returned these as soon as I got them and ordered another set. I was tempted to order two more sets to pick and choose from each set but I'm too honest to do that. I will however, keep returning and ordering until a get a set that matches the premium asking price. Update 04/16/23: I got my 2nd set in today. No finishing issues, tool marks and most importantly no off-centered heads. I'm happy!

Tool Truck Quality Ratchets at Price Like Somebody Stole Them from a Tool Truck
I own a set of Snap-on Dual 80s and a Matco 88 locking flex head, and while I believe both those brands are excellent and beautifully made fine tooth ratchets, they are fairly expensive. Matco and GearWrench were previously sister companies, and it shows... my 3/8 Matco 88 locking flex head is very similar in appearance to the GearWrench 3/8 flex head. Both have a low profile high tooth ratchet head with recessed reverse lever (the Matco uses an 88 tooth mechanism while the GearWrench 120 XP uses a dual pawl 60 tooth mechanism which acts like a 120 tooth mech). That said, this entire GearWrench 4 piece set sells for less than the MSRP on that one Matco ratchet I own. Please keep in mind that, with the exception of the 3/8 stubby ratchet, the other 3 ratchets all use longer handles. The 1/4 ratchet isn't long enough to prevent you access to most places (esp when you consider the flex head adaptability), and the 3/8 does come with a stubby version for tight access locations while the 3/8 long handle ratchet offers a significant amount of leverage. As for the 1/2 inch ratchet, the handle looks like the handle on a breaker bar.... you get a ton of leverage, but it's B.I.G. It's a beautifully well made piece, though, and has a very nice light back drag. All of the above said, the fact that you also get an Apex Tool Group backed lifetime GearWrench warranty, I can't recommend these ratchets enough - even compared to the MAC, Matco, Snap-on and other tool truck brand ratchets. Again, not to knock Matco or Snap-on, both those brands manufacture excellent quality ratchets, and those brands are also made in the USA, while these GearWrench ratchets are made in Taiwan --- but, when you consider price as a factor, these GearWrench ratchets are extremely hard to beat. Just remember that you may want to have a few standard size 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 ratchets for when you are accessing bolts where you may prefer a smaller handle over a longer handle ratchet due to limited access.

Nice quality set, very smooth and a pleasure to use. Tighten the hex. A set for the price of one Snap-On wrench
This is a really nice set for the price. The flex heads come in handy more often than I even expected. I use these most of the time even when I wouldn't need a flex head. Tighten the hex to make it stiffer. (more on this later) The 120XP means that you only need 3 degrees of movement to catch a tooth and tighten or loosen a fastener. I recently used the 1/4" to remove a blower motor that was in a tight spot. The 1/2" is quite large with a long handle. The 3/8" has a normal head but has a long handle. The 1/4" is nice and small but has a long handle. The 3/8" stubby is pretty nice but honestly, I haven't used it yet. The way GearWrench is able to have 120 positions is with 60 tooth gears and 2 pawls that alternate. Every 1/2 tooth rotation it switches between the pawl on the right and the pawl on the left. There are videos that explain this better from GearWrench. If they had used a 120 tooth gear it would likely be too fragile to hold up to much abuse. As an added bonus, the switch has On and Off stamped in the wrench much like the Snap-On Wrenches do. The head also has 3 degrees stamped in it in case you forget how much travel is needed to catch a tooth. I bought the 3/8" normal length non-flex head FR80 (80 tooth) Snap-On wrench for about $100. I paid a similar amount for this set. I put the Snap-On and the GearWrench set side by side in the picture. (you get a lot more with GearWrench) There are people on YouTube who test the strength of different wrenches and although Snap-On is normally very good, there isn't much difference and at times GearWrench will last a few foot pounds more before they break. (these guys break wrenches on purpose, it is painful to watch at times) Also, if the flex head ever starts to get loose, you can tighten it with a hex wrench. My 1/4" was a little bit loose for my taste. The hex sizes needed are: 4mm for the 1/2", 3mm for both 3/8" wrenches and 2.5mm for the 1/4". A mechanic friend told me to tighten mine right away.

120 tooth are good
I have ordered a set of 84 tooth by mistake and this 120 tooth ratchet set after. I kept both because the 84 tooth was my fault. Im a heavy equipment mechanic and I have used the 120 tooth with a 3 foot pipe on the handle for extra torque without damaging it. My guess would be 300 to 400 foot pounds. It didn't damage it. However one of my 84 tooth ones keeps changing directions on me even when it was new. The 120 tooth ones do compare to snap on at a fraction of the price even after months of abuse.

Very good set
I use this product in a professional environment daily. These are very good ratchets that hold up well under abuse. Very fine tooth count, my snapon ratchets have less teeth for 4x the price. This entire set costs less than one ratchet from aforementioned company and I tend to grab gearwrench first on most jobs.

Recommended buy
I have been a technician for over 20 years. Was looking for a fine tooth ratchet set and kept coming back to this set. Figured for the price of one Snap-on ratchet I would give them a try. Been using them for several months and they are my go to ratchets now. I really like these. Update: Been using these for more than 1.5 years professionally. These things are amazing! Really, truly impressed!

Best. Wrenches. Ever!
Arrived very quickly, in 3 days despite me using the 5-8 day shipping option. They came in a heavy duty blister pack in a giant cardboard box (like 3 feet long nearly twice as long a's the wrenches) The wrenches themselves are now the best I own. I work on cars for a living, and getting a wrench that has this small of a swing arc is next to impossible. It's as close to 0 degrees as I've seen. The flex head is very stiff, but that's a good thing. It stays where you've set it. My concern is that after age it will loosen up as there is no lock(that's what warranty is for!) I've used the 1/2 to remove rear carrier bolts on mark 5 jetta no problem so it's strong as well

Great product
I'm a professional diesel mechanic. At work I exclusively run snap on ratchets but didnt want to fork out the money for snap on at home. Have been very impressed by these ratchets. They're tough and the fine tooth count means you can get into areas that you dont have much swing and still do the job. The flex head is convenient and a real life saver for some applications. Extremely impressed. Well worth the price
