The latch makes it hard to close.
I really like this safe, except that it is very hard to close. It needs a very tight seal, so you can't just close it and expect the plastic thing to latch. You really need to push down very hard (or sit on it) for the latch to close it before using the key to lock it. Also, the latch part of it is a plastic piece that if you were to pull/push too hard, it might break; it isn't very strong. But when you get the hang of closing it and getting the latch to close it (before using the key), then it is a great safe.

Great Product!
I am about to move out on my own and this is worth every penny! I feel that my items and belongings will be safe if something ever happened to our house as well. Also, the safe is unique where you register it to you which I thought was pretty cool! Great overall product and I HIGHLY recommend!!

Important to get
I have papers I just can't afford to lose and this is keeping track of them. I have the file folders all set up, and important stuff all locked away inside. Nothing of value to anyone but all stuff that would be a pain in the neck if I lost it. So, the purchase is worth the piece of mind.

Not for security. Handle is flimsy plastic.
The lock is basically pointless but I didn't expect much and just needed a larger fire safe. Overall it's a very hefty and nice safe. My biggest gripe is the handle is the locking mechanism and it's cheap plastic. I know the lock is cheap but it feels like the handle is going to just bust off like some of the other reviews show. Also it seems like the handle will melt off in a fire and let the safe open.

Perfect for Important Docs
Very heavy duty. Perfect for the most important documents I have and the precious older photos that I want to save forever without worry. The lock is easy to maneuver. I love that this is fire and water resistant. With natural disasters becoming more common, I sleep at night knowing some of my most precious documents and belongings are safe.

Safe Box
I hope I never have to deal with a fire or flood but if it happens, my important papers are protected. Needs a better handle area to carry safely as it’s heavy and the handle area is nonexistent.

It’s sturdy, I’m very confident it will hold up in most worst case scenarios! Plus I added a fire retardant envelope as well as extra protection and it fits perfectly!

Kinda clunky, but it's growing on me
At first I regretted not buying a smaller safe. The lid on this one was hard to close (until I figured out the trick) and this thing is really heavy. Yes it's fireproof (that's the main point, I know) but yeesh it's bulky! I had a smaller model (same brand) in the past and it was easy to stash on a shelf, pick up and move as required, etc. Inexplicably, SentrySafe makes that next size down just a little too small to fit letter-sized documents (we folded/rolled up a few). I wanted a safe big enough for a document or two, not a whole stash of documents and was annoyed I had to choose between something too small or too big. After a couple weeks, I'm warming up to this big clunky beast now. I've found plenty of important files to put inside it... now that I have such a nice place for them! And I do like being able to fit file folders, not just loose papers. I put my small objects in file folders too so everything is beautifully organized. I may never have a flood or fire (should hope not!) but I enjoy the peace of mind this gives me. And if nothing else, having a safe for any really important documents (eg. passports, wills for myself and parents, etc) makes it easy to find them on the rare occasions I need them. I'm not asking myself "what did I file that under???" and searching through my larger file unit for something I haven't seen in years. Actually, it was the stress of a misplaced passport that prompted me to buy this new safe in the first place (my ex kept our old one. If I'd kept it I wouldn't have had to search my house for my passport during my move! Drat). When this safe arrived, I lugged it into the house and wondered if I'd have trouble getting it up a flight of stairs I'm a petite female and my back isn't great. I was able to carry this upstairs without any grief --just get a good grip and lift with the knees! As for closing the lid, I learned that if I just put my elbow on the lid and put some of my weight onto it, I can snap the lid closed effortlessly. Otherwise the seal is hard to squish. Unless I put my weight on it, I simply can't get the lid closed. It comes with 2 elastic straps that are meant to go on the inside of the lid. Presumably as a place to stash small objects. The straps don't stay in place at all, not even for 2 seconds. I wasn't expecting straps with the product, and don't care. If you are expecting them though... um, don't. I found another use for the straps... so thanks SentrySafe for the perfect patio-umbrella ties!

Great Storage Space
I love the storage space it has in it, can fit everything I needed. My only problem with it is the straps it claims to hold more items on top. They're not the best, and they easily come out or fall apart if you even touch them slightly. They may hold like two pieces of paper, but nothing heavy like passports, just be careful because they will pop out if you touch them by accident. Not a deal-breaker, but just wished it was better designed to hold something sturdy without handling it extremely carefully.
