great helmet

love the evoshield helmets, have used them for my son for years and now that I'm coaching a traveling team, was first thought for team helmets

similar to the demarini helmets

Fits my 9 year old son. We took the Demarini Facemask from his Demarini fitted pro helmet and used it on this helmet. It works. On a side note, my son prefers the softball facemask over the baseball facemask, better sight lines and lighter, hence less pulling the helmet down over his eyes. This helmet casts the same shadow/shape as the demarini helmets, but with slightly better ventilation on the crown of the helmet (not surprising since both companies are owned by Wilson). But what we noticed is that the Evo shield helmet is lighter than the demarini fitted pro. Also we noticed that while both helmets have dual density padding, the evoshield has thinner initial layer of padding, the soft spongy padding. This may have contributed to the lightness. But the more important high density padding was the same between both helmets. Since the initial spongy padding isn't as think as demarini, it will not give you as much of a custom fit between the ranges of sizes. So while a demarini helmet can accommodate variety of head shapes per size, the evoshield cannot. We are not complaining at all about the helmet, my son likes it. We just wanted to give some info for Demarini helmet owners on how this helmet would be in comparison.

Great Helmet

I've played organized hardball for almost 40 years, and this is one of the best helmets I've owned so far. It's super light, and all the pads on the interior of the helmet have a stictched layer around the foam. Helmets that don't have this and have exposed foam tend to irritate the skin, and the foam will eventually rip and deteriorate. I've only worn it 1 game, but I was very happy with it. I bought it to replace a Demarini helmet that got hit with an 80 mph fastball about 2 weeks ago. (the helmet withstood the impact tremedously, so Demarini also makes a good mid to upper level helmet). I own other Evoshield products (shin guard and thumb protector) and the quality has always been legit. I also bought the Evoshield face/jaw guard that screws right onto it., which is a nice layer of added protection. The price was a little more than I wanted to spend, but after getting drilled in the dome, I figured what's an extra $20 bucks to protect your head??? If my opinion of this product chages over the next few weeks, I will be sure to update my review.

Great helmet.

Bought this helmet for my son. He loves the comfort level and that it is a very breathable. I would say out of the many helmets we have bought for baseball this one is the best.

Size gap between Int and S/M

Seems like a good quality helmet, but there is a pretty good gap between the Intermediate size and the Small/Medium. Intermediate is tighter than we wanted on our 10yo (definitely no room for growth next year), but Small/Medium was way too big and was bouncing around his head as he ran around the house to try it on. Seems like one more size in between would be beneficial. If your child is 10-11 years old, I'd order both and plan to return one.

Great Helmet!

I got this helmet for $14 – what a steal. It's well designed, strong, light weight and full of air vents. My kid loves it and it looks sharp. The padding inside is super thick with allows for some flexibility in sizing. (And if it is too big you can always wear a ball cap inside it.) I ordered a "youth" size and it fits my 9 year old just perfect -- not tight but just snug enough to not flop around. I should be able to get another year out of it, but if he grows a lot it may not fit him next year.

Worth every penny!

Great helmets I love the quality on them. I bought 3 youth helmets and it was a little big for my 6 year old but still good enough. It fit my 11 year old perfectly but it was a little to small for my 9 year old so I’m going to order him a s/m.
