Best thing I have found for pick up
I like that I can pick up most everything I need to pick up with for me is mostly toys. It wont pick up heavy toys or baby cups too slippery. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the grabbers fall off they unscrew and come off, I have some many now that I keep the parts so I can put together when one breaks. I saw on another review where their grabber would not pick up a wet wash cloth this will pick up a wet cloth no problem it will also pick up a coin on the floor. I wish the engineers would contact me because I have used this for a while and have bought many of them until I find one that works better I will keep buying.

update 12/26/19 not as good
I ordered another Carex in october of 2019 and it broke the same day, Amazon was good enough to replace it with another, today it broke after less than 2 weeks while pouring nuts into a squirrel house, it is the line that holds the trigger that breaks. I'm going to try a different brand, I'm not recommending this anymore 2 were good 2 were bad the use was the same for all 4 nothing heavy or oversized. This is my 4 carex reacher. I have also purchased or been given 4 other reachers of this design, and none of them have held up to my "abuse" as well as the carex. original review below I've never had a problem with the cups popping off, or the blades crossing each other, the "jaw opens wide enough to hold a jar of mayonnaise,or slightly larger jar of pickles, its strong enough to hold a large towel and clean up the floor. I did notice that it seems like the rubber cups are different on this reacher I purchased. they seem very slick and hard and do not pick up small objects as well, I'm not sure if the pliability came with using it or they did change the little grabber cups. So a 4 because of how well they have worked in the past but not a five because the rubber grips do not seem as good. I do recommend this reacher

Grabs What Needs Grabbing
Carex 26 Inch EZ Grabber / B000AEGCW6 This is my first grabber; I purchased it after a major back surgery left me unable to pick up things. My impression is that this works about as well as could be expected. Length-wise, sometimes this feels a little short and I still have to bend a tiny bit to pick up things that are really low to the ground, but the longer version available for sale sounded too long, so I guess this is a happy medium. (I'm 5'4" for anyone comparison shopping based on height.) The "locking" button that locks the grabber in place is a nice touch and seems pretty strong, though I've not experimented with it much. I could do without the clear plastic flip-guard by the handle, as it really only seems to get in my way, but I suppose it provides balance and sturdiness for really heavy items. Overall, though, I've been happy to have this grabber and I've been impressed at just how much it can pick up and how easy it's been to retrieve dropped notebooks and lost papers (though the papers will get scrunched!). I definitely recommend this as an affordable and useful tool to anyone looking for a grabber after a surgery or injury has left them unable to bend. ~ Ana Mardoll

Locked up the first time I used it.
I had one like it and it lasted a lot long time. The first time I used it, it locked up. I can’t get it to release. Very disappointed!!!’

Not very well made
There are so many things right about this product ... the size is perfect for my short lady arms. I can't handle the manly ones they sell at Home Depot that seem like they're six feet long. OK, not really six feet, but too long for me. Also, the generous rubber pads really grab on and hold things, making it easy to pick up things from the floor from a wheelchair. But: 1) The rubber grips fell off with use. The nuts that hold them in place aren't tight enough. I tightened them on one, but the nut for the other one disappeared into the 4th dimension, so I can't repair it until I can get to the hardware store (mentioned above) and get the right size replacement. SUGGESTION: Tighten the nuts as soon as you receive the tool, and maybe you won't have any problems. 2) It's not really strong enough to lift a heavy object, say a large can of tomatoes, up to the top cupboard shelf. 3) It sometimes locks up in the closed position and you have to fiddle and fiddle with it to get it open.

Helpful product!
This is a very nice Grabber. I have had many over the years and this is one of the best. I especially like it because it is shorter and that made it easier for me to handle. It does well with picking up items as small as paper clips and large items if they are not too heavy (none do well with heavy items). My only complaint is the extra piece on the handle which is supposed to help stabilize your wrist. I found it more of an annoyance than a help since you have to open it (makes a lot of noise) each time and it's thickness gets in the way if you don't want to open it. I have small hands that are crippled with arthritis so I found that part of the Grabber inconvenient. Otherwise, I really like the item!

Most Versatile, Easiest Operation, Strongest Grip for me
I've seen/tried a couple others & this is my favorite. The mechanism is the strongest, most versatile for tiny to heavier objects, and the features give extra help. If I can't maintain my arthritic hand grip on a heavier item I can lock it and then just lift the pole part with both hands, hand-over-hand. e.g., I lock-gripped the looped tape handle on a gallon of water that was on the floor and easily hauled it to my seated position this way. I also pick up flecks of torn tissue paper easily. Very versatile. I use a longer one at home and this one at work, at my desk. I suggest you go through the motions of actually reaching for the things you need at home or work, and have someone measure the distance. Consider that when you have grasped the item you will need to pull up your arm a certain distance if you plan to transfer the item to your other hand, or consider what nearby surface you plan to deposit the item onto. I decided to get two lengths, and am very very happy with both.
