Good, but not great- then what is?
We had been using the previous model Capresso Grind&Brew, the CoffeeTEAM TS, for several years now and were happy to see that the manufacturer had taken user feedback to heart and created a new model that addresses some of the weaknesses of the TS. 1. The Pro Plus has a removable water reservoir while the TS does not - anyone who has had stray beans fall into the TS water tank will appreciate this feature. 2. The Pro Plus has a removable bean canister with a gasket-sealed cover. Arguably, only a modest improvement over the TS's non-removable, non-gasket sealed bean canister, this design change allows for a far more important improvement - the ability to clean the grinder. 3. The Pro Plus allows the upper element of the burr grinder to be removed. This is a huge improvement over the inaccessible grinder in the TS. This, in conjunction with the new grind & clean function promises to eliminate progressive weakening of the brew experienced when using the TS - especially when using oily dark roast beans. 4. A dedicated oily bean mode that compensates for the potentially slower feed rate of oily beans through the chute. This seems to be a replacement for the three-step strength setting found in the TS and, in practice, may be considered a step backwards for those who grind and brew light or medium roast beans. In use, the Pro Plus has lived up to the promise, it is easier to maintain and brews a more consistent pot of coffee than our TS ever did. So, why all the mediocre reviews you may wonder? Well, it's a question of perspective. No doubt, many owners of previous Cappresso grind & brew coffee makers, myself included, were disappointed by the execution of the new features - this is no Jura expresso maker - just a Chinese-made consumer product. In this respect, it seems equivalent in build quality to the 2 CoffeeTEAM TS units we have owned but they could have done better at this price point Additionally, in two respects, the Plus may seem like a step backwards. Firstly, the removal of the three step brew strength setting means you have to experiment with quantity of water you add for the selected pot size to adjust the brew to your taste. Secondly, the thermal carafe provided with the Plus doesn't seem to keep the coffee as warm as the carafe supplied with the older TS. This, second, may not actually be the result of an inferior carafe but rather, the difference between where the water heater is located between the two units. On the TS, the water heater is below what would be the warmer plate on the GS glass carafe model, so while the machine is brewing, the carafe is being preheated. On the Pro Plus, this doesn't seem t be the case. Personally, I never liked the idea of having the water heating element located at the bottom of the machine as it allowed any drippage from the pot or basket to seep in and shorten the life of the unit, so I'd call it a plus. In any event, expect to microwave any coffee poured beyond a half an hour from initial brewing. Bottom line - if you like the convenience of a grind & brew and your taste runs towards dark roast, this may be your dream machine. Update 4-5-17: Like some other reviewers, my coffee maker has developed a problem with the bean canister lock-out pin that prevents the machine from brewing coffee. The lockout is there, presumably, to keep the machine from operating if both the canister and lid are not in place. The pin is spring-loaded as is the switch that the pin engages. In combination, these springs exert enough force to keep the bean canister lid from staying seated once the lid's rubber seal get worked in a little. The workaround I'm using is to remove the spring from the canister spring assembly (removing the two small Philips head screws from the underside of the canister provides access). I guess adding a weight to the underside of the canister lid would also work. I contacted customer service about the problem and they offered to replace the bean canister. When I asked if they had made any changes to the canister to keep the problem from reoccurring, the answer was no, so I declined. I would remove a half a star from my previous rating for the manufacturer failing to address an obvious problem but since I can't do that I'll just say it's more a 3.5 than 4 star product.

Not built to last for than 3 years
My 4th Cappresso Coffee Team Pro and it too has died after less than 3 years. I use it daily and not more than once or at most two times daily. It does make great coffee, but it is either the grinder that will stop working or the brew mechanism will stop, lid on the caraffe will fail etc. and for $300 per machine, one would expect more from a quality perspective. Oh- and you won't need to set your morning alarm clock, this machine can wake the dead; it is that loud. Moving on and trying the Breville grind and brew.

Great machine, has some issues but overall makes a great pot of coffee that is piping hot.
This machine makes really good coffee if you like your coffee on the stronger side. We had the old swing basket Capresso from years ago which was fantastic. Made in Portugal it was nice to see something not made in China. Not the case with this one. This one is made in China. We went with the very expensive Breville Grind Control, which gave us constant issues. It would not brew a 12 cup pot of coffee without overflowing the filter basket. Finally got tired of it and returned it and ordered this new Capresso. Having read the reviews we had some understanding of it's possible shortcomings. It arrived and first, I was shocked how big it is. It is however a tad shorter than the Breville but it looked smaller online. It is constructed very well with lots of good grade stainless steel. I agree what others have said about the bean bin cover. Why the heck did they make it black? The way the hopper is designed, you cannot see through the sides to see if you have beans so you have to remove the lid to make sure you're going to have enough. Small niggle but enough to mention. Couldn't wait to try it. Put beans in, filter in and water. It set to grinding. Yes it's noisy but they all are. We had it set on 4 cups, fine grind for a full pot. It was a bit strong, and a tad bitter. But what others have said, it's very heavy on the beans even at lower settings (but not near as bad as the Breville) Next pot was a six pot fill with a two cup setting on medium grind. Coffee was perfect. We use Starbucks French Roast which is already stronger coffee, plus it's a bit oily. The machine has an "oily bean" setting which we had selected. Apparently it runs the grinder slower. Can't really tell. It's quite ingenious how it works. When it starts, it opens a shutter on the bean hopper that allows the beans to fall into the burr grinder. When it has finished, it then closes that shutter and then grinds to clear the burr grinder and coffee chute, then it closes a door up above the filter basket to keep steam out. Works well I think. It keeps the coffee very hot and the pour spout on the glass carafe works well. That seems to be an issue with so many, doesn't matter what you do it dribbles. This one works well. Another great thing is that the programming procedure is a snap. Very simple. I also like that you can select the cup size on the timed program. This way when we set it for work mornings, it's at two cups (small six cup pot) but on regular manually operated runs, it is set at four cups for a full pot. We've only had it a few days but so far I am impressed. Easy to clean (we've not had to clear the chute yet) and makes a good pot of coffee. You will just need to work with it to get your best flavor. I will come back and update the review if anything changes. One star dinged because of the heavy coffee useage, thus lack of a lighter brewed coffee without lots of practice. If you had the early swing basket Capresso, you're ruined for life as nothing seems to work as well as those old Portugal made Capresso machines but this one is a pretty good second. Apparently they do test them, there was a note in the box that they test, and I noticed coffee remains in the burrs so they do have some quality control.

Fantastic brand but model shortcomings
Love this brand as my past experience is that it makes the best coffee. Ordered with a lot of excitement but had to return for the following reasons 1. Primary was that it didn’t fit under counter cabinet which was a deal killer. Seemed someone mixed up measurements but with water container at back, i would also need to pull out coffee maker (if it would fit) to remove water container to fill. Quite inconvenient when compared to my Cusinart that I simply piur water into. But if you have the room it is very convenient. 2. Secondly the coffee bean container hold a lot less coffee than I am used to. If you look closely you will notice that the coffee fill container is filled with internal plastic slides/sloped sides that reduced the amount of beans by at least 50%. Expect to have to add beans for every pot fill. 3. Glass carafe (this brand makes an awesome thermal carafe) but no hot plate to keep the coffee hot?!? Only thing worse than weak or too bitter coffee is cold coffee. Ehy they don’t add a hot plate (that one can default on or off is a complete mystery at this price range). Sorry Capresso. Fantastic brand and coffee makers but you can certainly do better!

poor investment
this is about my 10th Capresso! unfortunately once again the grinds block it and water leaks out the bottom. I keep buying from Capresso as when it is new, the coffee is the best.

Very Loud Grinder & Not low maintenance
I previously had the cuisinart grind n brew machine which was a terrific machine. It still works after 2 years but it now takes double the time to brew a pot......i I was going to buy the same one because otherwise it had been a great coffeemaker. I read reviews about the Capresso - which most seemed positive. One of the reviewers commented on how quiet the grinder is??? obviously no grinder will be quiet, the one on the cuisnart isnt quiet either - but this machine is QUITE loud when grinding - not great if you are the first one up and you want to make coffee without others in the house thinking there is heavy equipment being operated?! The "beeps" on the machine are also louder than others. ( not sure if that can be changed to lower audible) The other "not great" about this machine is the ongoing cleaning of the grinder and inner workings required. For this type of coffee maker - not ideal. It should be grind and brew and clean the usual components not the additional........... leave that to the real espresso makers etc. I wanted to give it a chance - but honestly - it hasn't grown on me - its loud grinding has just become a deterrent to use it.

Too expensive for poor functionality
set it to 4 cups but gave me a full carafe - when Capresso CS is asked they claim that machine uses all water provided regardless of any setting!!! I was left to wonder, why then the machine is giving you the option to set number of cups??? Extremely loud grinding and slow brewing --- all together very disappointing machine.

Best quality and value for a drip maker with built in burr grinder.
Excellent coffee in true JURA quality. The only thing that would improve this coffee maker is if you could fill the reservoir and only brew what you want. Instead you only fill the reservoir with the desired cups you want to brew.
