So, the unit came packaged well and looked great. After taking it out of the box, it was as I expected. Quality looked good. However, couple of things that were not pleasing... 1. Installation: When the bottom brackets are installed, on the left side, the protrude past the edge of the SK. This is by design. In my case, when I installed the unit, I noticed the protruded a tad too far so the SK was not on level with smoker. I spoke to CS support, sent pics and they could not apparenty see anything wrong with the install. Duh! Long story short, I had to slightly mod. the bottom bracket so it could move a tiny bit to the right. Some may not worry about this, but for me, it was important to get it right. CS should resolve this issue. BTW, CS provides 'levelling screws' but in my case, it would have tipped the SK in the wrong direction :). Oh, thing to watch. The edges are sharp. Wear gloves when installing (dont recall reading this in the manual?) 2. Propane gas hose/tube: It is too short when the tank is installed on the hook provided. In my case, it pulled the tank off center and kinked the hose. This is a biggie IMHO. To make things worse, they provide a right angle regulator - why I would not know given the angle it needs to screw on to the bottle? I spoke with support and they said they had no options when I asked to provide me with a longer hose and/or one with a straight through regulator. It was non-answer as CampChef provides longer hoses with other grills. Ok, so, I will need to buy a longer hose as this is a SAFETY issue. Again, surprised CS does not provide a hose that is a few inches longer? They SHOULD fix this matter. 3. Instruction manual is pretty basic: Does not say anything about prepping the SK. I ran mine for about 20 mins to burn off any oils etc. However, it generated a LOT of soot. In fact, it put soot on my stake and I had to remove the outer layer from the stake (best part) as I did not want to eat soot! Later, I discovered, there is an adjustment behind the control knob to adjust the air mixture (a disc behind the control knob and the front panel). This turns the flame from a yellow flame to a blue/clear flame, which is needed so there is no soot build up. As a result I had to fully clean the SK and grill box. Why does CampChef not say this clearly in the manual?? 4. Oh, one more thing... Not CampChef related per se but if you had cover before you installed the SK, chances are it will no longer fit. My cover did not or was pretty tight. So much so, one of the sharp edges on the CS, put a rip in it. So, I have to buy a new cover. Based on reviews, CampChef's own cover does not seem to fit over the SK/Grill?? I purchased the Patio King cover - feed back is mixed on the size. Let's see? BTW, it is expensive at $75. UPDATE: Having used it, I can say this is a blast. The heat it puts out is huge and fantastic. Thus, bumping up my rating. I also have to say, following these issues, I got some GOOD support from CampChef.
