Great Fan - So Far - A Bit Pricey - Had Better Last A Long Time

Purchased as a 12v-DC backup fan for the next time the electricity in Texas hits 114*F and the power goes out again and again when "Governor" Abbott accepts another million $ donation from ERCOT instead of repairing the state's electrical grid (vote). The fan is lightweight and provides a strong breeze while running on 12V-DC (a battery or convertor system). It's super easy to clean and it won't amputate an appendage because the blade is made of what else? = Plastic. The same plastic that has created the Great Pacific Garbage Patch where aquatic life continues to die off due to ingestion of PLASTIC. Running on a 12V-DC, RV deep cycle battery or a even a regular car battery, I'm sure it will run full blast for at least 5-8 hours before it drains a fully charged battery. If it fails early or otherwise needs an updated review, I will provide one, then. It's a bit too pricey for a 12V-DC fan - otherwise, i'd give it 5-stars, so far.

My top choice for fans

I’ve bought six Caframo fans. Great quality…a bit more expensive but worth the exrtra cost.

Vibrates, sometimes, but moves air.

A little loud on high but a friend who likes to sleep with a fan said it sounded really good to her for that purpose. I like quieter, but low is acceptable. I bought two. One vibrates pretty bad, especially on high, and especially at certain angles. Moving it can quiet it down, but I think it should be better balanced for the price. The plastic thumb wheels are not press fit. Must be glued on, by the end user, if you want to use them.

A literal windstorm

The media could not be loaded. I love these fans. Summer heat will not punish my little sailboat cabin. The rotatable blades, two speeds, and super quiet will make our camping trips so enjoyable now.

Moves air

We have 10 of these fans on our Catamaran. Helps move the air and keep you cool on hot still days on the ocean. Excellent for sleeping and ours get quite a work out.

Unbalanced but easily mendable

This seems to be one of the best options available for a 12v fan, however, it’s far from perfect. Mounting:be very careful to not over tighten the screws holding the base. It cracks quite easily. You’ll want it tight though, since it vibrates pretty badly, even though I have mine mounted to a quite solid section of sheet steel. That leads to the second part. Vibration: I’m usually pretty tolerant of noise and actually prefer a little noise at night. However, something about the noise of this thing vibrating drove me nuts and gave me headaches. That being said, I ended up pulling the fan blade off, sticking it on a piece of solid wire secured to a flat surface(a section of clothes hanger works fine) and shaving a small amount of plastic off the heavy side with a razor blade(deburring tool actually works better, but a razor is fine) until it was balanced. This virtually eliminated noise and only took a few minutes. Attached pic shows quick and dirty balancing setup and how little material needs to be removed to achieve balance. If this fan was $35 and came well balanced I would give it 5 stars. So overall after balancing and forgetting about the money spent, I’m quite happy with it.

This is Direct Wire Not 12v Plug, & OK But Not Quite As Powerful as When Manufactured in Canada

The fan I received was a direct wire (Model 757), and others report the same, even though the listing says it is a lighter plug model. It does not blow quite as much air on high as the older units that were built in Canada (20+ years ago) and had lifetime warranties. These are made in China with a year warranty. Based on my experience with other made in China Caframo's the longevity is not as good as the old made in Canada units (which can last 20+ years). On the plus side the newer production fan is quieter and does not vibrate the bulkhead as do the older units made in Canada. Seems like Caframo de-powered the older production motor, resulting in less air volume on the high setting, resulting in a quieter and smoother running motor. The quieter smoother operation is a treat, but I gave it 4 rather than five stars because ultimately I preferred the higher air volume of older models, and because these fans are expensive for a small made in China fan.

Sadly Noisy as heck

I thought this would be somewhat like the other caframos, but sadly this thing is running very high power even in lower setting and has a lot of vibration and make quite the ruckus..so nothing could want to run during nighttime

False delivery dates from Amazon

Great product however Amazon for the second time when I really required an item on a specific date have let me down,registers as handed to resident however was nor yet dispatched ,no apology just they don’t care ,required this to fit today as was stated it should have arrived only to be told it will be Friday ,last item was required for an important job and arrived a week late .Have used the Caframo fans for years and this is my second purchase of one this year for my van ,quiet efficient and well made although a tad expensive they are truly reliable kit ,would highly reccomend. Amazon however is taking their eye off the ball considerably when it comes to both customer service and delivery .

Best fan ever!

Very nice quiet fan. I like the design because it doesn’t require a fan shield which means it takes up less space. I have 8 of these set up in my RV, couldn’t live without them.

Works great

Best addition to the boat for comfort in hot weather. Bought one for the cabin and it worked so well I bought another fan for my helm and it has made a huge difference to my comfort in hot weather and for defogging the windshield as required
