Best 22lr rifle cleaning patches
I am fanatical about cleaning my precision 22lr rifles and i have tried EVERYONES 22lr specific patches and these are the best I have ever used. Fit just right tightness wise and are very absorbent and durable. And DO NOT come undone and unravel.

I tried using these on & off for a couple of days. These will not go down the bore of my 22-250, no matter what I do. I've tried trimming them to a smaller size & I even changed the diameter of my Tipton 22 caliber jag from .1875" to .184" diameter. These patches are 1-1/8 square & I cut them down to 3/4" square (the size of the older patches) & still they won't go down the bore. They measure the same thickness (.015") as the previous patches I've used, but for some reason they will not work. The previous patches worked fine, except now since I made the jag smaller by .0035" they are a bit looser then they were before. 2/6/2018 I decided after 2 years The only thing I liked about the Butch'S Twill cleaning patches, is that they don't lose small threads like the others. Perhaps they won't work is because the twill threads are firmer & resist compression more than the others. The others were made to be useable for .17 - .22 caliber & Butch's patches are made for .22 - .270 caliber. I use a very stiff Tipton graphite cleaning rod, so I can't imaging what more I could have possible done to make them work. 9/5/2013 Update After communicating with (Lyman), the company who either owns Butch's, I was told the following: "They would normally be in the .009" to .013" range and should work on standard size jags. We'll send out a new package of patches checked for thickness." I received replacement patches today. These patches were between .009" to .010". They work great now!! Originally Lyman wanted me to send the defective patches to them, which I balked at for one reason. Shipping charges are higher than they've ever been & I felt uncomfortable spending 1/3 of the original cost shipping them back to them. Especially since I considered it was possible I might possibly get another bad batch. However, I was wrong I did get a good batch! I offered to send 50 of the overly thick patches to them in an envelop with a standard postage stamp when I contacted them to let them know these new patches work very well. I can afford to pay 46¢ postage so they can see for themselves what the old ones measure. Overall I am quite pleased they sent these thinner patches to me and now have a good image in my mind about Lyman considering they dealt with my situation very well.[[ASIN:B00162MQEE Butch'S Twill Cleaning Patches Bag Of 1000 (1-1/8-Inch)] 2/1/2018 I tried to order more patches a couple of years ago directly from Lyman. I wanted them to check the thickness of the patches to insure I'd get .005" thinner so I would't need to send them back. The person I felt with refused to consider there was anything wrong with their patches, so I decided I'd never buy their patches again. I'll simply polish as jag to a smaller diameter so patches will work. I still have that original bag that's too thick. Modifying a jag shouldn't be necessary

Clean up your act!
I started cleaning with the cheap, super-thin patches that come with most cleaning kits, and those sucked big time. So I took a chance on Butch's patches, and I will never use anything else. Very heavy duty ridged twill that grabs dirt and crud like a magnet. The .22 patches are a little too beefy to use with a jag, but with a slotted tip they do a great job of scouring the barrel of both my .22LR and my 5.56mm rifle. A very good product.

likes: tough patch, no problem with shredding / losing fibers; relatively thick; absorbent, works well with slotted jag dislikes: might be too tight a fit on the spear-point type jags, but this is minor and the flip-side of a tough, thick, absorbent patch. Not an issue for me but just be aware. In comparison, the Hoppe's patch is much thinner and will fit the spear-point jags.

Good Patches
These are good patches for cleaning barrel bores. They are a bit pricier than other brands like Tipton's, but I saw a review on "Long Range Pursuit TV" that said they are a bit better than plain cotton patches and will get the grit out.

Butch's Cleaning Patches
I use Butch's 1 1/8"cleaning patches to clean .22 caliber rifles. They are a perfect fit with my cable pull thru bore cleaner process. They are a little tight on a jag. I will continue to use them.
