Lives Up To The Hype
Like a lot of people, I bought this because the NYT Wirecutter recommended it as the best immersion blender out there. I like that it has variable speeds, and quick access to full power with a separate button so you don't need to try to turn the speed dial while it is running. It is a very ergonomic design, easy to hold and control, and it seems to have plenty of power. I decided that ultimately, I like that the little hood that covers the blade doesn't have any gaps or holes in it. To be clear, that design choice is somewhat of a mixed bag. Some other immersion blenders have gaps or perforations in the hood to help circulate the material better, but at greater risk of splashing. The main downside of this closed hood design is when you want to whip air into eggs or whatever, it requires pulling the head almost entirely out of what you are mixing, repeatedly. Not a big deal, and I think that, overall, it is more important to keep stuff from splashing vs. the incremental benefits of slots in the hood, but it is a noticeable change from how my last hand blender worked. Cleaning it is easy. I hand wash the beater but the instructions say you can theoretically throw it in the dishwasher. I bought the basic one without all the attachments. I also bought a separate, metal milkshake cup, which I use with this constantly for everything, not just milkshakes. They give you a thin, plastic mixing cup, but I learned the hard way that even very solid glassware is really not up for being used with a hand blender. You can get away with it for a while, but it puts absurd stress on the glass. So I don't expect the thin plastic cup to fare much better. Do yourself a favor and get a metal milkshake cup to use with this if you don't already have one, they are cheap, oversized, indestructible and make using a hand blender so much easier.

Well after almost 30 years, my old Braun hand blender finally died. I would say that this one is even better. I like that you are able to control the speed. With my old one, you could not. It's also very easy to clean. The removable blade stem is key.

Absolutely Blenderful
I was looking for an immersion blender and researched a few. I am glad I settled on the Braun MQ5027. You can buy ones at half the price, but most come with less attachments, half the motor power, and often a shorter shaft. Also, the bell cap design on the Braun helps minimize splatter. Out of the box, it includes the immersion blender, the primary blending attachment, a mash attachment, a whisk attachment, a blending cup (with built in blades), and a mixing beaker. The attachments are easy to attach and remove. They snap in place and you press two buttons on each side at the same time to release the attachments. There are two power buttons (either one be held to operate which is good for safety). The top button has variable speed, controlled by the dial on the top). The lower button is "turbo mode". I have used all the attachments. This blender is great for when you don't want/need to dirty a whole blender or food processor. I've mashed potatoes and they take half the time of during it with an electric hand mixed. I've minced onions in teh bending cup and it takes seconds and they come out smaller than doing it by hand. I've whipped heavy cream, egg whites, made smoothies, and also minced olives making tapenade. Clean up is simple, just rinse the attachment(s) with some soapy water. It doesn't have a storage bag but won't take up an enormous amount of space in a drawer or on a lazy Susan. The cord is a couple of feet long, which is plenty, and it has a 3 year warranty.

Great product + easy use but..
I really like this blender. Compared to the old one which literally blew up while I was using, this feels extremely sturdy and less noisy. It is very strong so I don’t have to spend as much time compared to the older blender. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because of the cup chopper. It is extremely small. I was thinking of using for larger amounts but I have to prepare in small portions. That will not be a problem as long as the machine itself does not give me any issues.

bought used like new at deep discount for my college student daughter, not even sure she got it or used it, but Braun is pretty good so used like new here on Amazon is always a good value

Nice Product - Packaging the Problem
I've had other Braun stick blenders before, and this one seems to maintain the heritage of a quality product. One thing so noticeably better than the cheaper brand that I just disposed of is that the Braun doesn't create the suction that drives it to the bottom of the vessel. And I didn't dispose of the other blender for only this flaw, but for the fact that the spindly connection between the motor and shaft failed. Even though the Braun's connection is also plastic, it is much more secure with more locking points. IMHO, this Braun stick aka immersion blender has all the other advantages over countertop blenders - that being exactly one of them - it can reside in the side of a drawer not taking up countertop space. You can blend soups while on the stove and cleanup is a quick rinse under the faucet. The reason I've docked this product a star was for the package - or rather the lack thereof. I hope this was just an oversight and not an acceptable shipping procedure for this item. Not only was it shipped only in its retail box - the box wasn't even taped shut! Picking it up on the porch, the lid popped open displaying the contents! Thankfully, the Styrofoam placeholders in the ends of the box had taken the brunt of travel wear-and-tear, but I feel sure that was due to luck not design. There are many reasons why retail packaging is a poor choice for a shipping container besides the fact it wasn't made to protect as such container, including the fact that seeing the retail container might give away a gift or add incentive for porch pirates. Again, I hope this was an error and doesn't indicate policy.

Can't live without one!
I did lots of research before buying this one. The key is the power! This one is powerful at 400W and can puree root vegetables for soup in a couple of minutes, much easier than moving the soup to a blender and back to a pot. So easy to clean and store compared to a blender. Also much cheaper than a soup maker.

Pretty Good
I am using it for soup, hummus, chopping onions and such. The power seems enough, i did blend beans without any problem. Very easy to clean as everything can be easily detached. Good blender for the price. I paid 115cad
