They’re OK

This is the second time I’ve purchased these exact type of water tubes for holding down my pool tarp at the end of the season (not sure if from the same seller.) I will say the first set lasted a few winter seasons but these I just purchased will be lucky to make it through this winter because I’ve already had over half that will not hold water and have leaks so they will all have be thrown out at the end of the season because of mold issues that can arise and I will not take a chance with contaminating my water. This purchase was not worth it this go round.

Not the winner I was hoping for

I use these to hold down my pool cover during the winter months. I bought these as replacements and I noticed that the material is thinner walled than what I am replacing (same brand just 5-6 years older). I filled 2 tubes and laid them out. In less than a week 2 of them had already leaked out the water from one side of the tube. Very disappointing.

Adequate for the job

I consider all of these pool cover tubes as disposable. I buy them and hope to get two or three years use out of them and this brand is no exception. The quality is adequate for the job. It is nothing special but it gets the job done. I will purchase these again when I need them. The very most important thing that I cannot stress enough is when your receive you order, check each one to make sure they do not leak. The last two times I ordered these, I had at least two that leaked. Where I went wrong was to use what I needed and then find out the next season that I had defective ones that were to late to return. What I recommend is as soon as you receive your order, fill each one with water to make sure they do not leak. If you find one that leaks, make sure to return them within the allotted return time frame. Bottom line is that I think they are OK to order but make sure you check all of them for leaks as soon as you receive them.

Water weights holds it down

Water weights do hold the pool cover down. Super easy to fill. Just don’t over fill. Maybe that’s why we had a couple of water leaks.

Cheap pool cover holder does the job for one season only

I bought this 5-pack of 8' water tubes to replace some of the 10' ones I bought when I closed the pool and that have now got holes in. Here are my thoughts on these tubes and the use of water tubes in general: 1. Water tubes are not the best way to hold down a pool cover. However, they are still one of the cheapest. 2. Do not over fill! 3. These should be treated as disposable, since they won't all last a season, due to ice forming or even animals scratching and birds pecking holes in them to get water. 4. It may be possible to add some antifreeze to the water, but it's a lot of hassle. 5. Bigger is better. 10' tubes are better that 8' tubes and double tubes better than single since they cope with more damage (see (3) above). 6. Do not over fill! 7. There are many manufacturers, buy the cheapest, but heaviest gauge that you can. 8. Buy more than you need. Some will leak. 9. The "stopper valves" are simply molded plastic that are difficlt to close. Here's my technique: (a) Fill tube 2/3 full with hose (b) Fold over end of tube about 9-12" from the end with the stopper to create a raised fold so the water stays in the long part of the tube but there's not much water (flat) at the stopper end. (c) Place stopper on ground and align the cover the best you can (can be difficult since they are often misshapen). (d) Use a heavy, wide, blunt object to "smack" the valve closed. I use a house brick. (e) Unfold and you're done. 10. Do not over fill! 11. These will not all last multiple seasons. Live with it. 12. If I could figure out an easy way to easily fill these with sand, they would be excellent - maybe next year! Incidentally, all 5 of my tubes DID NOT LEAK when I bought them and followed the above directions, but then I may have just been lucky!

Lost a few bags--customer service is replacing

I've lost a few bags in a few short weeks however customer service is sending replacements. Hopefully these will last longer and perhaps I just got a bad batch.

NOT heavy duty

These are a great value and were easy to use (especially the seals), but they are NOT the 18 gauge thickness they have listed. I have purchased Robelle 16g and 20g, and these feel thinner than even the 16g, so I don't expect them to last long.

Quick to leak

Approximately half of the tubes used did not survive on off-season. The remaining tubes that I tried to reuse, almost all leaked one month into this off-season and need replacement.

Can have leak along seam

Great concept and easy to fill but a couple of tubes had leaks along the seam but thankfully i have spares

Total Garbage

I would give these zero stars if I could. They’re total junk. The ones that don’t leak just sort of get pulled into the pool as the cover gets rained on. Unless you live in a climate where it’s below zero for the entire winter they’re not going to work for you. I’m in southern Canada and we generally close the pool in October and open it by the end of May. During those months our temp is about 5-15c or 40-60F. By March it could easily be 20c or 70F. So unless you’re in the Arctic, don’t bother. They won’t freeze and they won’t weigh the cover down. I’m so mad. I wish I could get my money back. I buy from Amazon all the time and this is by far my worst purchase

4 work and 1 broke immediately

These pool products (generally and all of them) are cheap and poorly made but as pool owners we have no recourse but to put up with this style of product. The water bags made by all companies are cheap, thin, and don't last, and are overpriced. On opening and filling the bags, the first one broke immediately, the entire plug system detached from the bag. The other bags filled normally, I did not use the 5th one. I wish the manufacturing companies would charge fair prices for these things, like $1.00 each.

Money wasted

How annoying to have a guy over that you have to pay to close the pool and than to find out that the materials you ordered to be crap . This product is SOOOO POORLY manufactured it’s scary , seams are crooked and half closed up , cut of right ate the seam so they BURST and start leaking as soon as it’s filled with water , now we were already cheesed of having filled one and it to be leaking let alone to find out that from the 8 bags 6 were no good at all . Also the stoppers were not working proper . We ended up having to fill up containers and use rocks to keep the tarp on . Very very unhappy and needless to say we’ve send it back . It does NOT deserve the one star but I could NOT send it of without rating

Durability has one down sines las time I ordered a few years ago

They are not the greatest quality this time around. They did send 2 extra with order because they weren’t getting great review but I’ve already had 3 break and it’s only been cold here for a month or so. May have to look for a new supplier Update April 2023. 6 of these water bag broke over the winter. Very unhappy with this product Now would give only 1 star!
