Issue with hedge trimmer

I have recently bought this set. String trimmer works fine, battery (considering the size) holds pretty well, only thing - it takes forever to charge it and the set comes with only one battery. I have an issue with hedge trimmer attachment. For some reason (safety? ) there is a "white tooth" sticking from the base unit. Pole case (when attached) is pushing that "tooth" into base unit and then string or hedge trimmer attached to the other end of the pole work fine. When I want to attach hedge trimmer directly to base unit, it has a notch that doesn't push the "tooth" and trimmer doesn't work.... I reached out to BD but so far I only got confirmation that I reached out to them. Will see. The other, minor issue is that when you attached hedge trimmer to pole, it is unbalanced and uncomfortable to hold. Definitely not the tool for woman... Update (5/19/18): I'm sending it back. string trimmer works, battery holds pretty nicely but I didn't have luck with hedge trimmer attached to base unit. B&D didn't bother to return my emails, authorized center and local hardware store had no idea why hedge trimmer has that notch... I'm taking away one star.

Missed the mark on this one

Wont engage the activation tab when not using the extention pole. Cheap handle to activate safty grib will not push in activation tab to let you pull trigger and turn it on. Had to make modification to get it to work..sucks dont buy.

A very handy tool to have.

This is a very handy tool to have on hand. You would think that you would not need it...until you do. I am very happy with this purchase and I highly recommend if you have the Yardmaster and are hesitant pulling the trigger on this one.

Junk

The trimmer is unbalanced and difficult, the motor unit failed after about 3 hours of use. Junk, Junk Update-although the product did not meet my personal needs B&D did take it back and issue full credit on there 100% satisfaction program. Great product backup in that sense. I realize every product cannot be a hit and continue to love my other B&D tools.

OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS! I just wish they would lower the price. If you just get the Interchangeable system you get the string trimmer and hedge trimmer with 1 20v MAX battery. I recommend upgrading and getting a 40V battery for extended use. I got chainsaw and blower attachments as well. About 10 or 15 years ago B&D was my last choice for tools, but in the past 5 years they’ve come a long, long way. This set is an amazing value. I already had the string trimmer LSTE523 cost $89 with one 20v battery and the 10” chain saw LCS1020 cost $97 with one 20v battery, both powered off the MAX system and have been very happy once I fixed a small chain oil issue with the chain saw. The great In the pics the saw looks tiny, but it’s 10”, yes the bar is a bit thinner, but it will still do the job on trees up to 9” in diameter. It runs great. The string trimmer is the same quality as the one I already had and I love it. The hedge trimmer is something I didn’t have and it’s fantastic. Worked out of the box with just one piece to snap on then the battery. The blade is a full 20 inches long and just as heavy duty as my gas one. The blower works fine, I don’t use it much sine I have a small farm with no pavement to blow leaves too and no gutters. Still I use it to blow leaves out from under shrubs and it does what its supposed to do. The Weight: It’s a bit heave. The hedge trimmer is the heaviest component and it weighs in at 9.5Lbs including the 20v battery, with the pole it goes to 12.5lbs, so if you’re a woman I hope you’re buffed up. The interchangeable features ad about 3 pounds to each component if you compare them to the stand alone versions. The not so great The price is the main thing that didn’t add up. As I mentioned the saw cost me $97 and came with a battery, the attachment alone for this cost $84.99. The 20v batteries go for $18 to $26 each if you get the 2pks. So I don’t see any savings here and buying separate components you don’t have to worry about the base unit dying and taking everything with it. To sum up both trimmers purchased separately would come to $176.75 with 2 batteries; $84.06 for the hedge trimmer with battery, and $92.69 for the string trimmer with 1 battery, this interchangeable set is $164.99 with just one battery and the spare costs $15. No savings there. The blower attachment is a savings because the blower goes for $75.

Chore Helper

This is a handy assortment which includes a group of attachments such as a trimmer, hedge trimmer, blower and a chain saw. One battery and a charger are included as well. The battery takes forever and a day to charge and since only one is provided there is a limit on how much usage can be accomplished in one day. Although this may not be top of the line equipment it will provide the help needed to perform numerous chores.

An all-inclusive deal for the price! It comes with a trimmer, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, and blower attachments that attaches to the same base-unit (pic 01). So handy, especially for a new homeowner who needs the basics for their yard care. Unlike another reviewer, my set came with no problems. My hedger attached smoothly on to the base-unit with nothing sticking out (pic 02). It has 20V of power and that's good enough to trim our hedges and cut medium-sized tree branches (see pic 03). It's not industrial-sized strength but it does the yard work I can (and want to) handle. The safety-features of the hedger, for example, requires 3 parts to push simultaneously to cut with. The trimmer is standard in size, which means a little too long for my petite size but it's manageable. The blower works fine but I wish it had more power to blow leaves & branches more easily. I have yet to use the chainsaw so can't tell you how it works. This is wireless and comes with a lithium battery and a charger unit, which will be useful to charge the night before for full use (pics 04-05). Recommended.
