Decent
This is a decent iron - it does the job adequately. It's really good at letting off steam, but the tank is a little awkward to fill. There are a lot of temperature options, and you can turn the dial all the way to the right to shut it off. I would say it's a medium weight. I prefer heavier irons because they get out wrinkles better in my opinion. The water spray button was tough at first. When I got the iron, I thought it was broken. But after using both thumbs and pushing HARD several times, it finally started working. Now I can push it with one thumb and normal pressure to get a spray. The cord retraction also isn't the best, but it's not a big deal to me. Finally, note that the inside of the iron is supposed to have condensation when you get it - this means it was tested by the manufacturer before it was shipped. Overall it's not the best iron I've ever used, but it will get out your wrinkles without too much effort.

The good & the not-so-good
After spending $150.00 on a Rowenta less than a year ago that simply stopped working, I decided to try a Black & Decker for about 1/3 less. It doesn't have all the features of the Rowenta, but if it lasts only a year, I can live with that. As far as the good is concerned, the iron heats up rapidly and produces a goodly amount of steam - does a good job of pressing my shirts. The water port is tiny - you need a steady hand - but the tank holds quite a bit of water. If you hold the iron up to the light just so, you might be able to find the water level inside the darkened red tank - a dark tinted tank may be good good for pretty, but it's short on common sense - you can't see the water inside!. The other way to tell if the tank is full is when the water runs out the port. The biggest issue I had was with the cord. First of all, it could stand to be a foot or two longer. Secondly, the cord has a ball joint type of swivel at the point where it enters the iron at its base. The problem with that set-up is that when you place the iron back on the ironing board, the cord remains in the down position. So, when you try to set the iron on its base, the cord is always in the way. And, if you aren't paying attention, the iron tips over. A little piece of tape fixed that problem. Even if it lasts only a year, I'm still $115.00 better off.

Surprisingly good iron
No joke, I iron A LOT. I mean, probably every day. I have multiple cotton shirts, but what keeps me ironing is the fact that I sew. Mainly quilts, so as the saying goes, when you quilt, you iron just as much as you sew. My nearly 10-year-old upper-end iron bit the dust. Buying a good iron is important to me, but I was not willing to spend a chunk of change on a quilter's iron. So I started searching for regular irons that would fit the bill. I stumbled upon this one, did some research on other websites, and decided to purchase it. It should be noted that I DO NOT use the steam function on this or any other iron. I will mist whatever I'm going to iron with either plain water or Best Press, so I have never used the steam setting. Pro's: --It is lightweight. Much more so than my previous iron, and that's a big plus. --It heats up quickly. --The soleplate is larger that my old iron, which means I can cover larger areas more quickly. --The retractable cord - wow, that's wonderful. Tip: there are times when I push the cord rewind button, and it won't rewind all the way. I've found that if I pull the cord out for a couple of "clicks," then push the button again, it rewinds completely. EDIT: Tip on rewinding the cord: hold the actual plug end when you push the button to rewind the cord. This will prevent the cord (due to the speed of the rewind) from whipping around and whapping you with the plug end. Wow, that hurt! Tried holding the plug as I rewound and the problem was solved. Con: --While some people may love the fact that after 30 seconds this iron shuts off, that is a HUGE pain for me. If I'm pressing open seams from one end of my full-length ironing board to the other, even though the iron is in constant motion, the light will flash that it's about to shut off. Have to pick up and shake it for the light to remain steadily lit. THAT is a major inconvenience, at least for me. All in all, this is a good iron that I've been using for at least 6 weeks prior to writing a review. Wanted to give it a full workout before I assessed its usefulness, and so far I have been pleased - other than the 30-second shut-off thing.

Not the best iron I ever used
I’m keeping this iron because l had to have an iron NOW but am wondering what has happened to irons because my old Sunbeam was way over ten years old when it died and has none of these problems. Here is what I am finding in this one (and the first one I bought, and returned, was no better) PROS: Good for light weight fabrics The new style pointed nose works well CONS: Not hot enough for canvas or denim You can’t see water level (even with a flash lite) Can’t maintain heat (loses heat when setting up) so wait to reheat. Too much steam causing it to constantly need water (and they asked it be turned off and unplugged to refill.

Nice iron so far….
I like the iron mostly….. my last Black and Decker iron lasted since 1984 so we’ll see how this does! The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t have a clear , see through section to easily see when you have filled with enough water.

Both for functionality and look it is a wonderful iron.
The iron has a very nice weight, it is not too heavy the bottom portion is made of steel and it glides on the fabric and makes the boring ironing job fun. At first, the steam and water-releasing buttons on the handle gave me some discomfort to hold and pressing the iron on the fabric but after using it for some time I don't feel the discomfort that much anymore. The iron is very nice looking too. I would rate the iron 4 out of 5 stars.
