Genuinely unexpected
I wasn't crazy about buying a product labeled Black & Decker since they've kind of been a joke brand for the last 40 years. But I'm genuinely impressed with this composter. I've had other plastic yard accessories in the past and the fact that I don't have them now was a big warning sign. However I have to give them full credit for the sturdiness of the construction and the ease of assembly. The plastic sections are all really close to piston-fit with each other. The only material that will be moving in between chambers is going to be liquid. The barrel sections are held together with threaded rod that goes through the entire assembly, similar to how induction motors are held together, which is very secure. I've written documentation professionally and this set of instructions is a case study in what companies should be shooting for. At one point I wasn't matching up the A and B ends of the barrel sections but that was my fault for skimming, and the giant A and B stamped on the pieces prominently told me "hey dummy, you have the ends mismatched", so the assembly is actually also partially stamped into the actual product. My only real concern for longevity is the metal sections - they are coated, heavily, but I don't know what the coating is or how long it will withstand the elements (and compost goop). Turning the barrel is easy and the compost appears to mix well. Kitchen scraps tumble perfectly but a small pile of chickweed that I got compacted & tangled isn't un-tangling after one day, and I'm not holding that against it. I didn't want the gear reduction, because I saw it as an unnecessary complication, but it's already getting heavy and it's kind of nice that I can tell the 5-year-old he can turn the crank whenever he wants and that it'll actually move. The unit gets marked down one star for two issues: One, the barrel rotation lock is janky. It's not something that stays put when you want it to so if you want to lock the rotation you have to hold the lock down - which is fiddly. I will probably rig something better. The second and more important issue is the door size. I think it's too small. I just dumped my first mixing bowl full of kitchen scraps in it, and some of it didn't make it in. For something children are probably going to be doing, it should be a bit more fool proof. All in all I'm happy and looking forward to seeing how long it takes to make finished product.

Extremely Sturdy compared to others!
This frame is sturdy! The bin is strong well-designed plastic. The doors stay closed when turning. The handle moves freely and is very easy to turn. To put this together I suggest having someone help you, only because assembling the drum/bin is done by sliding into slots, which glide easily.... yet, it is in a circle and when I had someone hold it still, the whole process took just minutes. The circle is wobbly until it is completely assembled. Might add, a child could help because you just need someone to hold it still. Look at the difference in shipping weight on various other composters, some weigh 8 pounds so I cannot be convinced the frame is sturdy at all. This is worth trying.

Sturdy and practical
It was pretty straightforward to assemble and I like that the pieces are held together by metal rods as opposed to plastic clips. It seems sturdy and like it will work as intended.

Good Quality
Like everything about this product. From box to starting compost in about a hour. You will not buy anything with better instructions.

So far, so good
I’m a new gardener and this is my first composting attempt and wanted something I could manage. My 73 yr old husband was able to assemble this alone in a few hours of cussing and walking away and going back. I like the two chambers so I can have soil ready to use while other side is breaking down. I can easily spin the barrel when both sides are full. We have raccoons in our area and they haven’t disturbed this. I put the unit on pavers, it’s sturdy and not an eyesore. Much nicer than multiple bags of soil.

Great product
The best directions and ease of assembly, very sturdy. All hardware was individually packaged and labeled. Operates smoothly.

Impossible assembly
The product's provided access/connection points don't align. I'm a carpenter, so not new to challenging assemblies. This one just doesn't work. Manu defect, maybe.

Very flimsy plastic.
Does not assemble easily, and does not hold its shape under any stress. Returned it.
